1: Tartu is the second largest city of Estonia. Tartu is often considered the intellectual and cultural hub, especially since it is home to Estonia's oldest and most renowned university. Situated 186 km southeast of Tallinn.

2: Tartu was first settled on 5th century and first mentioned on 1030. Tartu got city right before 1262 . The mayor of Tartu is Urmas Kruuse. Tartu's total area is 38.8 squarekm. Total population in 2010 is 103.284 Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tartu

4: The University of Tartu (Latin: Universitas Tartuensis) is a classical university in the city of Tartu, Estonia. University of Tartu is the national university of Estonia; it is the biggest and highest-ranked university in Estonia. The University of Tartu is a member of the Coimbra Group and the Utrecht Network, and was established by King Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden in 1632, thus being one of the oldest universities in Northern Europe. 6: During the second half of the 19th century, Tartu was the cultural center for Estonians. In 1869 Vanemuine Society organised the first song festival in Estonia. On June 24, 1870, the fifth anniversary of the society, a play called "The cousin from Saaremaa. The theatre was originally located in a building on Jaama street. 8: Toome Hill is best known park in Tartu. The park contains numerous monuments to people connected to the scientific and literary traditions of Tartu. Also on the Toome Hill are the seat of the Estonian Supreme Court, Dorpat Observatory, built in 1811, and the university's old anatomy theatre.

10: On the Town Hall Square there is housed the Town Hall, which was built in 1786. There is also a fountain called "Kissing Students" (Suudlevadtudengid) which was opened on September 1, 1998.

12: Big Mother river connects two largest lakes of Estonia, which are Lake Vortsjarv and Lake Peipsi. Big Mother river has length of 100 km.
