1: What caused The Great Depression? -As the prices went up so did business cost, and this was making it close to impossible for business to stay open and competitive and profitable. Another cause was bank failures, when the banks started closing and they couldn't give the people who put their money in there, their money back people started to panic and everyone withdrew their money at once. -Economic trouble in Europe and other parts of the world was one of the many factors that brought down the U.S. economy, along with the income gap and consumer debt.
3: How long did the Great Depression last? - The Great Depression lasted from !926 until around world war two.
5: What was life like during the Great Depression? - Stores closed, factories stopped producing, and millions of unemployed workers. People were actually fighting over food like animals, people lived in shacks called shantytowns, there were breadlines. Marriage rate fell dramatically during the depression, so did birthrates. More than 20,000 Americans committed suicide in 1932, a 28 percent increase over 1929.
7: Who was affected by the Great Depression? - Everyone was affected by the depression, middle-class and wealthy Americans who never knew poverty, to them this was a cruel blow.
9: How did the Great Depression End? -Although the New Deal programs helped alleviate some of the problems during the Great Depression, they did not end the economic downturn; World War II was mainly responsible for the change in the economy.
