FC: The Harris Family 2009

To a Very Special Person, Hello, our names are Holly and John. We feel so blessed to have this opportunity to introduce ourselves to you and thank you for taking the time to get to know us. We know that you are in the process of making a difficult decision and want you to know what ultimate joy you may be sharing with us. We will always be thankful for your total act of love and selflessness. Your decision shows what a truly special person you are. We believe that God has a plan for everyone and that there are no accidents. We know that you are reading this letter out of love and we are eternally grateful! Holly and John

Holly... I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. I have a twin sister, and a brother who is two and half years older then us. When we were young my mom was a "stay at home mom". When we were all in school she began teaching at a nearby elementary. My dad was a traveling salesman and was gone every week Monday through Friday. I think my mother was overwhelmed by having to raise 3 children by herself most of the time. My twin sister and I are especially close and spent most of our childhood being each others play mates. We did alot of bike riding and swimming at the neighborhood pool. My brother had his own set of friends and found it inconvenient to have two little sisters bugging him all of the time. Easter was my favorite holiday (as you can tell). My favorite candy is the Reeses Peanut Butter Egg. It is probably a good thing they only sell those once a year!!!! My favorite color is teal blue.

My father's mother whom we called Gammy was a very important lady in my life. I would go spend every weekend with her and she would let me go through all of her makeup and jewelry. She would put my hair in curlers and let me play dress up all weekend long. She is now 90 years old and I love going to see her and appreciate all the wonderful things that she brought to my life. My mothers parents lived about three hours away and we called them Mamma Carol and Wesie. We didn't get to see them as much but we always had a great time whenever they would visit. They are no longer with us however we enjoyed them for many, many years. I have many things I enjoy doing for relaxation/hobbies. I love to read, bake and fish. My favorite hobby is exercise. I love to run. I learned at a young age that running helped me relieve stress. When I have a b1ad day , I can go run and it will make it so much better! I was a Delta Flight Attendant for 16 years. I decided I was ready to start a family and wanted a career that would keep me home at night. I started a sales position three years ago that I love very much.

My brother and twin sister Melanie, Leslie and Holly | Holly and Melanie

Mom and Dad Edward and Annette | My Grandmother "Gammy"

All about John... I was born and raised in San Antonio. I had a very enjoyable childhood. I was always busy playing with friends and family. These times were fun and I used to play hard. Bumps , bruises, scrapes, cuts, and dirty feet were an everyday treat for my mom and dad. I think the only time I ever went inside was to sleep, but not without begging to stay out longer. | The VW Bug was the best! My mom and dad would drive me around the block on the side boards for fun. My dad could fit atleast 7-8 kids in that car with fishing gear to enjoy a day of fishing at the local creek. Don't let the short shorts and black socks fool you.......I was the neighborhood sweetie and terror at the same time!

That's my bro! He and I did a lot as kids. He would take me everywhere. We used to laugh all the time. He was also the big reason I was always in trouble. Today I still enjoy laughing with my brother whether it's hanging out at our houses, playing golf, fishing in the bay, or enjoying our daily phone call. My brother is my best friend and I love him tremendously.

I graduated from Taft High School in San Antonio in 1988. High school was a fun time for me. I had lots of friends and hung out with them all the time. I played varsity basketball and baseball in high school I was a good student in high school and graduated in the top 1/3 of my class. After high school I attended the University of Houston. I graduated with a B.S. Degree in Sports Administration and a minor in Health in 1994. It was during this time that Holly and I started dating. After graduation I moved back home for one year, then I moved back to Houston to be with Holly. Houston is my home and I love it here. I enjoy going back to San Antonio to visit friends, but this is where my heart is. A lot of great and exciting things have happened to me in this town, and I hope that many more happen in my near future!

Today........... I am so blessed to have wonderful friends and family. I am also blessed to have a beautiful home and a rewarding career. I have been an elementary health fitness teacher for ten years. I get to play and interact with about 350 kids (monsters) a day. The kids that I work with give me so much reward! We laugh and play jokes on each other all the time. Sometimes I forget that I am supposed to be the adult. I get so many hugs, and high fives each day, and I get treated like a true" rock star." I am not sure I always deserve this treatment, but I am sure that I am very lucky! It is known that teachers do not get payed that much,, but if you only knew how rich I am on the inside.. I have learned valuable lessons from "my kids" through the years. Kids always seem to know what to say when adults don't. Some of the best teachers that I know are 5-6 year olds. I appreciate my kids and all that they offer and teach me everyday.

My mom is still the best! My mom worked with kids all her life in a child care center. My mom was a very hard worker. She always took awesome care of us. Mom made our childhood fun. She alsays made sure we were clean and well fed. She still cooks the best meals today. I have my mom's sensitive side. I am caring, loving, and emotional. I love to spend time with mom or having her over for an overnight stay. | Dad was my hero! He served 32 years in the Air Force. I was always so proud of how good he looked in his fatigues. My dad taught me how to be respectful, confident, and kind to others. Dad was my best friend. He supported me all the time. My dad was one of the biggest kids I knew. We used to laugh and enjoy funny moments all the time. We enjoyed hanging out and talking all the time. I hope that I will be the dad that my dad was to me!

John and I met in junior high school. He used to get in trouble at school, and I worked in the office as an assistant for one of my credits. I saw him at least once a week due to him having to be disciplined. He was only 5'5" tall and had a head full of hair. I was already 5'8" tall in seventh grade so needless to say we didn't date much less even like each other back then. It was many years later that we were both in a mutual friends wedding. I was running late to the rehersal dinner and so was John. I sped passed him on the highway and he saw me and said to himself "wow she was cute" . We ended up getting to the church at the same time and when I got out of the car he looked over and said to himself "oh that's just Holly". I almost didn't recognize him due to having grown to 6'1" and having lost alot of his hair. We flirted at the rehersal dinner, and by the night of the wedding had the start of our 16 years of being together. We dated for five years and decided to take the next big step and get married.

Our Wedding... November 1, 1997 | Our wedding day was very special. We got married in a small chapel that only held 50 people. The reception was a big party and dance to celebrate!!!

We love to travel. We have been fortunate enough to visit many places. We really enjoy destinations where we can take in all of nature and the great outdoors. Some of these places include Hawaii, Colorado , San Francisco, and Miami to name a few.

Visiting friends, watching our nephew's football games, nieces gymnastic meets or just enjoying a date night out on the town | We enjoy hanging out!

Other Enjoyments... | Concerts, crawfish boils, bbq's, fishing, motorcycle rides to Brenham to check out the awesome flowers

We went home to San Antonio for the weekend to announce our engagement to our parents. On our drive back, we found a cute dog in the middle of the road. Long story short, she had been dumped. She jumped in our car and our love for Boston Terriers began. Her name was Sunday (she passed away in 2002 ~broke our hearts). We then got Harley and Hailey. From there we received two phone calls on Gracie and Chloe. They were rescues also. Chloe passed in 2007. We are now down to three and their names are Hailey, Harley, and Gracie. They are the sweetest dogs. They love any attention people will give them and will sit in your lap all day if you let them. They love children. | THE MOB SQUAD! A.K.A. "RATS" | From Left: Gracie, Chloe, Hailey and Harley | We went home to tell our parents that we got engaged back in 1996. On our way back traffic was stopped and there was this cute dog in the middle of the road. Long story short, she had been dumped. We named her Sunday and our love for rescued Boston Terrier's began. We lost Sunday in 2002 (broke our hearts!) but as you can see we continued to add to the family. Unfortunately we lost Chloe last year. We are down to three and love them very much. They LOVE people and children. They will sit on your lap all day if you will let them.

We are passionate about animals! We will rescue just about anything. Everynight we feed wild jack rabbits in our driveway. In the morning we have atleast 20-30 wild ducks eating seed from our yard. Every March we hang purple martin houses in our back yard and provide housing for these beautiful migrating South American birds. We throw bird seed dowwn for all the other neighborhood birds. We feed the frogs and lizards on our porch meal worms during the summer. We drive to the country and feed horses and donkeys apples and carrots. Besides our dogs we love GOD'S animals!

We have two nephews and a neice. Sydney and Ray whom live in Houston. We get to see them all of the time and have been very involved in both of their lives since they were born. They are now 15 and 11. Riley lives in San Antonio, and is now 7. We don't get to see him as much as we would like but enjoy him whenever we get the chance.

Family Fun!!!! We spend alot of time with John's family. We love to get together and make a good meal, go to concerts and church and enjoy each others company!

We believe that God has a plan for everyone and that he has a special baby in mind for us. We are confident we can provide a child with an unlimited amount of unconditional love, support and friendship. We will provide a safe nurturing environment for a baby to grow and develop in. We will love and cherish this baby for the rest of our lives and are committed to a baby growing up to be secure, confident and happy.
