Why I chose this topic i chose this topic because i wanted to learn more about ghettos. Like where they were located, How they were use,and what they were used for.
What i already know I already know that ghettos were places where they kept Jews. I got this information from , the encyclopedia, and the book holocaust ghettos, www.ncwiseowl.org, www.nicenet.com
Question # 1 1. How did they keep them under control? They established Jewish Police in every ghetto
Question # 2 How did they survive in the ghettos? Jewish councils arranged housing, distributed food, and provided social welfare, childcare, and other assistance.
Question # 3 What were the ghettos made for? Jews were progressively fenced of from the rest of the population. Ghettos were just places established until they got to the camps.
The Ghettos The first ghetto was established at Piotrkow Trybunalski Poland, in October of 1939. A ghetto is formerly a restricted area where Jews were forced to live during the Holocaust. The Warsaw Ghetto was the largest ghetto ever built. It was surrounded by large walls and barb wire and guarded day and night.
What i learned I learned that the ghettos are places that Nazis sent Jews until they got to the concentration camps. They were closed in and guarded day and night by Nazis. Sometimes even by another Jew. The Nazis made the Jews send letters to their families and friends , saying that everything was well when actually it wasn't.This way they were inviting them to come. What they didn't know was they were on their way to their doom.
