FC: Revenge | Catherine Earnshaw, may you not rest as long as I am living" | Hannah Ritchie

In Wuthering Heights, there is a lot of mistreatment and harsh behavior. Because of this, revenge is on the rise! Throughout the whole book there is an underlying theme- REVENGE. Heathcliff is in love with Cathy- Edgar marries Cathy. Heathcliff marries Isabella to get back at Edgar. Hindley and Heathcliff fight in the stables-Heathcliff gets Wuthering Heights. Hareton is Hindley's son-Heathcliff treats him badly. The book is full of getting back and getting even! The cover of this yearbook has a dark and rustic feel to it, which is what Wuthering Heights represents. The quote on the front shows Heathcliff's angry with Cathy; he is saying that as long as he is living, she will not rest-this is a form of REVENGE! | 1

 Nelly Dean | Catherine Earnshaw/Linton | Frances Earnshaw | Hareton Earnshaw | Hindley Earnshaw | Heathcliff | 2

 Joseph | Catherine Linton | Edgar Linton | Isabella Linton/Heathcliff | Lockwood | Linton Heathcliff | 3

Why these people? I chose to use the following REAL people to act as the Wuthering Heights characters because of the following: | Oprah as Nelly Oprah is a talk show host; in that setting she talks and listens a lot. In the book, Nelly always is there for Cathy to talk to and she narrates the whole book (meaning she talks a lot!). Brooke Davis as Cathy In the TV show One Tree Hill, Brooke Davis is always caught between two guys and can't ever decide. Cathy is the same with Heathcliff and Edgar. Princess Diana as Frances When Princess Diana died, she left behind her whole family. When Frances dies she also leaves behind her whole family. They were both young and more than likely didn't want to die. Micheal Jacksons Daughter as Catherine When Micheal Jackson was living, he never let his children out into the world! Before his death there were hardly any pictures of his children at all. Catherine was treated the same way; Edgar never let he leave the Grange grounds. House as Edgar In the TV show House, Dr. House is very protective of his patients and does everything he can to make sure that they are treated properly. Edgar is the same way with Catherine; his main goal is to keep her safe, because of this he will not let her leave Thrushcross Grange. | 4

Justin Long as Hareton Justin Long seems like a very quiet, calm person who doesn't care about a lot of things. Well, this is exactly like Hareton! Justin and Hareton are both quiet and have a 'go with the flow' kind of attitude. Charlie Sheen as Hindley Charlie Sheen started off, as Hindley did, an ok guy. As time went on, they both turned to drinking and gambling in Hindley's case and drugs in Charlie's case. Mel Gibson as Heathcliff Mel Gibson, recently, has been in the news for yelling at and abusing his wife. In the book Heathcliff has the same attitude. They both have a bipolar character trait. Miley Cyrus as Isabella To me, Miley Cyrus reminds me of Isabella. Isabella's character is that of a kind a stupid crowd follower. This is Miley Cyrus! She does what everyone else is doing and she can be 'a blond' at times. George Stephanopoulous as Lockwood On Good Morning America, George Stephanopoulous is a news anchor. In this position he has to 'get his nose' into everything! Lockwood is the same way when it comes to trying to find out about his neighbors. Sterling Knight as Linton I chose Sterling Knight for Linton because he looks and seems like he could act out a sick, gaunt looking character, such as Linton. | 5

Cutest Couple: Cathy and Heathcliff | "I cannot live without my life. I cannot live without my soul" -Heathcliff (Chapter 16) | "I love the ground under his feet, and the air over his head, and everything he touches, and every word he says. I love all his looks, and all his actions, and him entirely and altogether. There now!" (pg. 71) | Throughout the whole book, Heathcliff and Cathy have tried to be with each other. They have been mistreated, abused, and suffered just because they love one another. Compared to the other characters in the book, Heathcliff and Cathy were truly in love. The quotes show how much they love each other; Heathcliff cannot live without her, and Cathy loves even the ground he walks on. | 6

Nosiest: Lockwood | Gossip: Nelly | " Well, Mrs. Dean, it would be a charitable deed to tell me something of my neighbors..." -Lockwood (pg. 30) | Nelly is, for the most part, the narrator. But, without Lockwood's curiosity in wanting to know about his neighbors, the book would have never been. I have awarded Lockwood with the Nosiest award because he started the whole story by asking about someone else's business. The quote shows that he wants Nelly to tell him about his neighbors no matter how long it will take. | "Oh, certainly, sir! I'll just fetch a little sewing, and then I'll sit as long as you please." | I awarded Nelly with the Gossip award because she was willing to 'split the beans' about Lockwood's neighbors. It was really none of his business, but without him asking, there wouldn't have been a book! The quote shows that Nelly is more than glad to tell Lockwood anything he wants to know. | 7

Most Sheltered: Catherine | Most Protective: Edgar | "Ellen, how long will it be before I can walk to the top of those hills? I wonder what lies on the other side-it is the sea? -Catherine (pg. 173-174) | Catherine receives the Most Sheltered award because she is so protected by Edgar that she has not been off the grounds of Thrushcross Grange and she is a teenager. The quote shows that Cathy doesn't even know what lies in her back yard because of Edgar being so protective. | "I shan't speak to you Mr. Heathcliff. Papa says you are a wicked man, and you hate both him and me: Ellen says the same" -Catherine (pg. 214) | Edgar is what you call a very protective parent! He has instilled in Catherine that if she is to ever come in contact with Heathcliff, she is to not talk to him. This can been seen through the quote, Catherine meets Heathcliff but tells him directly that she must NOT talk to him! | 8

Most Religious: Joseph | "We thought a bolt had fallen in the middle of us; and Joseph swung onto his knees, beseeching the Lord to remember the patriarchs Noah and Lot, and, as in former times, spare the righteous, though he smote the ungodly." (pg. 77) | Joseph is a very religious man throughout the whole book. He always goes to church, is always praying, and reading the Bible. This quote shows that when a storm comes, he bows down and starts to pray for mercy. | Drunk: Hindley | "Yesterday, you know, Mr. Earnshaw should have been at the funeral. He kept himself sober for the purpose-tolerably sober: not going to bed mad at six o'clock and getting up drunk at twelve". -Heathcliff (pg. 158) | During the book, Hindley slowly went down hill. He started out a normal child, but ended up a man that had a gambling and drinking problem. He is awarded the Drunk award for this. The quote is used to show that because he was drunk he wasn't even able to go to his own sisters wedding. | 9

Most Afraid of Dying Young: Frances | Quietest: Hareton | ""Then she began describing with hysterical emotion the effect if produced on her to see black; and started, and trembled, and, at last, fell a-weeping-and when I asked what was the matter? answered, she didn't know; but she felt so afraid of dying!" (pg. 40) | Frances is very, very, very afraid of dying. She expresses her worry and fear to Nelly in this quote; she is completely terrified! For these reasons, she has received the Most Afraid to Die Young Award. | "Mr. Hareton recoiled, looking as foolish as he could do: he sat down in settle, very quiet..." -Nelly (pg. 271) | During the times when Hareton is mentioned in the book, he is never being loud or causing too much trouble. So he gets the Quietest award. The quote shows that he is calm and quite in that particular setting. | 10

Weakest/Sick: Linton | Crowd Follower: Isabella | "I don't mind the conversation, I wanted to be with-with him, and I won't always be sent off!" -Isabella (pg. 93) | In the book, Isabella reminds me of someone who only wants what everyone else has. Because Cathy loved Heathcliff, she also wanted to love him. The quote above shows that Isabella wants to spend time with Heathcliff for one reason, because Cathy liked him also. | "He made several efforts to obey, but his little strength was annihilated for the time, and he fell back again with a moan". (pg. 246) | Linton, from the time he came to the Grange and then went to the Heights, has been sick and lazy. He never wants to do anything and sometimes he can't do anything. So he has been awarded with the Weakest/Sick award. The quote shows that he cannot even pick himself up off the ground to walk back home. | 11

 17. Heathcliff dies. | 18. Cathy and Hareton engaged. | Why are these events so important? | 1. If Mr. Earnshaw were to never have brought Heathcliff home, there wouldn't have been a book! The book is mostly revolved around how Cathy and Heathcliff love each other but can't have each other. If Heathcliff never came to Wuthering Heights there wouldn't have been the love between Cathy and him, which means there wouldn't have been a book. 2. When Mr. Earnshaw brings Heathcliff home, Hindley is not very welcoming. One day, Heathcliff and Hindley are in the stables and Heathcliff tells Hindley to give his his horse or he will tell his father that he is mistreating him. Hindley gives in and allows Heathcliff to take his horse. 3. Because of the tension between Hindley and Heathcliff, Hindley is sent to college. During that time, Cathy and Heathcliff begin to spend a lot of time together. 4. A few years after Hindley is away at college, his father dies. Hindley returns to Wuthering Heights for the funeral with a wife, Frances. Because Mr. Earnshaw had showed Heathcliff favoritism, when Hindley gains Wuthering Heights Heathcliff is going to be mistreated. 5. One afternoon, Cathy and Heathcliff run off to Thrushcross Grange. While they are spying on the Linton's, the dogs are let loose and attack Cathy at the ankle. She has to stay at Thrushcross Grange because she is sick. 6. Cathy returns to Wuthering Heights a changed person. She is dressing and acting in a new and proper way- which is completely different from what she came from. When meeting Heathcliff again, she laughs at him. | 16

 7. Hareton is born and a few months later Frances dies. This is important it is now Hindley with a baby and no wife. He starts to drink and gamble uncontrollably. 8. When Cathy is talking to Nelly, she says that it would degrade her to marry Heathcliff. Heathcliff overhears her and runs away for three years. During this time, Cathy and Edgar get closer because Heathcliff is not around to take her attention off of him. 9. After three years, Cathy decides to marry Edgar. Heathcliff has been gone of three years and Cathy doesn't think that he is going to return; so, she marries Edgar. 10.Heathcliff's returning is huge! Cathy has just married a man who she doesn't love! The man she loves is now back in town, but she can't have him because she is already married. 11. Isabella thinks she is in love with Heathcliff. But, Heathcliff only marries her to get back at Edgar. 12. When Cathy dies, Heathcliff is completely broken. He has just lost the love of his life. He now is going to focus on getting revenge on the people who caused him harm and mistreated him throughout his life. 13. Hindley dies leaving Hareton in the care of Heathcliff. Heathcliff and Hindley never got along, so now that Heathcliff is in charge of Hareton he is going to try and get revenge. 14. Isabella dies and leaves Linton with Edgar. Heathcliff finds out that Linton is back and demands that he come to Wuthering Heights. Heathcliff's many goal is to get revenge, in this case by gaining Thrushcross Grange. He is hoping to do this through Linton. 15. Heathcliff thinks that if he can get Linton to marry Cathy, he will have Thrushcross Grange when Edgar dies because Linton is the only male hire to the Linton family still living. 16. When Edgar dies, everything he owns goes to Linton. When Linton dies and everything that he owns, including what he got when Edgar died, goes to Heathcliff. 17. When Heathcliff dies, it is peaceful. There is no one who is causing Hareton or Catherine trouble or trying to control there lives. 18. Hareton and Catherine are engaged to be married! They are in love with one another and nothing can stop them now. | 17
