FC: Clay and Mandy
Hello, we are Clay and Mandy. It would be our joy for you to consider choosing us to parent your precious child. Before we tell you about us and our family we would like for you to know how much we love and respect you for the choice you are making for your child. We are thankful for you and pray that you will be given peace as you make these important decisions. It is our hope that the following pages will help you get to know us, and lead you to feel completely positive about selecting us as adoptive parents. Thanks again and God bless!
Our Background and Why We Are Adopting We met while we were in college. After a year of friendship we began dating, and before either of us had graduated we were engaged. We have been married for 5 years now. We both come from close knit families with multiple siblings. By the time we got married our brothers and sisters had begun having children. Our love of kids grew during this time, and we knew that we wanted to begin our own family before too long. We believe that God placed the desire to parent in our hearts, and we began to pray for our future children. After enjoying our time as newlyweds and both working full time for about a year and a half, we began to try to get pregnant. After many months of trying unsuccessfully we began to believe there might be a problem. It was at that time that we first considered adoption, but it turned out that God’s timing for that option would be put on hold. Through a series of many blessings Mandy was able to get pregnant with the help of fertility. Our twin boys, Miller and Charlie, were born in 2010. Thankfully, our desire to parent has grown even more since the birth of our boys, and our heart for adoption has too. We have been blessed to witness many successful adoptions over the last two years. Clay’s sister recently adopted a year old girl from China and two family friends from church have four adopted children. We are so thankful that God opened the door for Mandy’s pregnancy, and we know that He is leading us into this adoption as well. We have the full support of our family and friends. They are excited to share in the joy of our newest family member. They, along with our church family, will help to form a very special and nurturing environment.
Family Life Our family is our most precious blessing. We believe that it is a gift from God, and because of this we handle it with care. Our aim is to have joy in being together and to create an environment that our children will benefit from in the future. At the center of our life is our Christian faith. This shapes our values, our parenting, and our decision making. We are blessed to have a wonderful church. It is very diverse, with members from many races and ethnicities. It is a great church to raise a family. There are many children and lots of people who invest in the lives of our little ones.
We spend a lot of time with our family. Miller and Charlie love going to their grandparents house for a cookout or family get together. Our nieces and nephews are around the same age as our boys, so there is never a shortage of playmates. We are grateful to be good friends with our siblings so we often stop by their houses just to hang out and play. Though we get together often, some of our most special family memories are summer beach trips or winter mountain getaways. We love sports and the outdoors. Often we take the boys to nearby parks to play. They love swinging and playing on the playground. They also love swimming in our neighborhood pool. When we are at home, the boys love playing with balls or reading books. We also spend a lot of time on the back deck enjoying the fresh air.
About Mandy (by Clay) Mandy is my best buddy and such a wonderful mother to our boys. She is a woman of strong faith and moral character. She is trustworthy and responsible, and on top of that, she's a beautiful woman. She comes from a great Christian family. She is very close to her parents and three brothers, as well as many cousins she grew up with. She is well educated and had a successful career in sales prior to having kids. Once she became pregnant with our boys she became a full time mother. This has been a HUGE blessing to our family. She is able to stay home and raise our children and give them valuable parenting every day. Mandy has a great personality. She is extremely personable and makes friends very easily. She has a lot of energy, which is valuable to have with kids at home. She loves to get out of the house with the boys and take them to the park or anywhere she needs to go. She truly can do it all when it comes to keeping our house in order and keeping up with the kids. She enjoys sewing, scrapbooking, shopping, going to the pool, and hanging out with friends. She is also very involved at our church. The kids and I are blessed to have her in our life.
About Clay (by Mandy) Clay is my best friend. He is funny, loving, caring and devoted. I could not ask for a better husband to love me and our children. He is my biggest encourager. He is always doing everything he can to meet my needs, as well as the needs of the boys. His love for children is one of the reasons he is so excited to bring another baby into our family. He is one of three children and has always wanted a big family for himself. He is the absolute definition of a wonderful father. He spends so much of his time with the boys. When he is not at work, he is with Miller and Charlie teaching them how to throw a ball, swing a golf club, read them a book or sing to them. As soon as he walks in the door, the boys start running to him yelling “DADDY!!!”. Our next baby will get that same love and attention from their daddy too! Not only is Clay a great father and husband, but he is also a smart businessman. Clay went to school and got a degree in finance and has used that in the family business in which he is a partner along with his father and uncle. Because it is a family business, he is able to have flexibility to be able to earn a good living but still be able to take off when needed to be with his family. Clay also has lots of hobbies and activities he enjoys like golf, baseball, football, skiing and being outdoors. He is very involved in our church and spends a lot of time in men’s devotion groups and prayer meetings. His love for the Lord is at the heart of everything he does and that is why he radiates love.
About Our Boys Our boys are 2 year old identical twins. Although they look alike, they are different in many ways. They enjoy playing together, but also have their individuality. They do share a love for people and other children. We have been telling them about their new “baby” for many months now. Each night before bed we pray for the baby and for its mother. The boys always end the prayer with an emphatic “Amen!”
Miller is the oldest of our twin boys. He has a sensitive heart and a kind nature. He enjoys interacting with others, and even at his young age you can tell he is going to have a big personality. He loves to kiss people... sometimes people he just met! He also loves babies, and it's obvious he’ll be a nurturing big brother.
Charlie is the younger of our two boys, but he likes to take the lead. He’s got an adventurous attitude and a free spirit. He is physically strong for a two year old and likes to show off his muscle by hanging on anything he can reach and jumping off anything he can climb. He’s not too rough and tough though... One of his favorite things to do is snuggle up to his mom and dad. He will be a great big brother, too!
Our Home and Town We live in a three bedroom brick home with a large playroom above the garage. We live on a quiet street in a residential area. We frequently play outside or go for a walk or wagon ride through the streets of our neighborhood. We also own a piece of land in another nearby neighborhood that has a community pool. We will build a new home there one day, but until then we enjoy using the pool frequently during the spring and summer. Our town is a great place to raise a family. It's a multicultural community with good schools, medical facilities, parks, and retail areas. It is also within an hour of a very large city, but far enough out of town that you would never know it is that close. Where we live gives us access to the city, the country, the mountains, and the beach. But most importantly, it give us access to our family. Some are a few minutes away and others are a couple hours, but thankfully all are reachable to us.
On Parenting We are so thankful for our kids and the opportunity to parent. We do not take any area of it lightly. We pray that our children will be well rounded individuals who love others as much as they love themselves. Our greatest hope is that they will share in our faith. We believe that being a model for them is the best way to show them how to love. Hopefully the lives that we live as parents will reflect the values that we are trying to teach. We want our kids to get a great education, compete in sports, make great friends, and hopefully have children of their own one day. Ultimately, we want our kids to love God and love people. Nothing would make us prouder.
