S: Jonah Gust Miller 0-11 Months

BC: Onto year one!

FC: Welcome to This World

REMEMBERING THE JOURNEY AND JOYFUL EXPERIENCES OF THE BIRTH & LIFE OF OUR SON, JONAH GUST MILLER.

Nicolle & Jonathan | New Beginnings We waited to find out if Baby Miller was a boy or girl, but we couldn't help but try to make our own predictions. We both had an inkling that the baby would be a boy, but at the hospital both the mid-wife and nurse took us for a spin when they predicted a girl. Baby Miller was due May 12th, but the mid-wife thought he/she would arrive early, so we were ready a couple weeks ahead of time. However, our little one had different plans and decided to keep us waiting until May 18th to arrive. We were both more than ready to meet our sweet little baby!

It's a BOY! | Jonah Gust Miller | We went back and forth between the names Jonah and Gabe until we decided that we would wait to meet our little one before choosing. When we saw and held our son for the first time, Daddy decided 'Jonah' was the perfect name. Jonah's middle name comes from his great-great grandpa, Constantinos, who came to the United States from Greece. His name was changed to Gust Hubert Cachiaras when arriving to the country. If the mid-wife's prediction had been true, Jonah's name would have been Claire Alyse. | MEASUREMENTS | BIRTH DATE: May 18th, 2011 | BIRTH TIME: 4:07 am | WEIGHT: 8 lb. 2 oz. | LENGTH: 20 inches

FIRST FAMILY PORTRAIT | We had spent the pregnancy going to the mid-wives, but ended up with a doctor in the delivery room due to some complications. Mommy and Daddy were looking forward to holding Jonah right away but the doctor had to rush him off to a different room to make sure his lungs were cleared out. Once we were able to see Jonah and hold him, we couldn't believe the little miracle that was in our arms. We were so happy to finally meet our sweet, little son.

Family Visitors in the Hospital | Papa & Nana | Aunt Katie | Uncle Kyle | Uncle Bryce

Jonah's first cousin, Cadence | Uncle Dustin | Grandma | Grandpa

June and July | These two months were a little crazy in the Miller household. With a new baby in tow, Mommy and Daddy went through a lot of changes. Jonah went from being a Nebraska baby to a Minnesota baby, both Mommy and Daddy got new jobs, moved into a new apartment, and bought a house... whew!

My! Jonah has already changed so much. He has learned to smile and he melts Mommy and Daddy's hearts whenever he gives that toothless grin. He enjoys bath time, learning about the world around him and exercising by kicking and stretching his arms. | Omaha, NE

August Jonah was a busy boy in August. He traveled up north to visit the cabin for the very first time. The weather was beautiful and he had fun meeting the Cachiaras clan and looking at all the tall trees. This month he also got to visit Nana and Papa's farm in Iowa. He went on a walk around the farm with Mommy but was more interested in all the tall, green grass than he was in the animals! This month, Jonah has really found his voice. He likes to coo and smile at Mommy and Daddy. He's getting better at picking up his head, and he has started to suck his thumb for comfort.

September | In September, Mommy, Daddy, and Jonah moved into the new house. Jonah got use to taking naps through very loud noises as Mommy and Daddy worked on the house during their free time. Mommy started her new job so Jonah stays home with Daddy in the afternoons. This month, Jonah got to take his first visit to the Minnesota State Fair. It was a little chilly but he loved looking at all the bright lights! | This month Daddy made Jonah laugh for the first time! He can now roll from his tummy to his back and has lost almost all his newborn baby hair except a patch of 2 inch long hair at the top/back part of his head. Jonah has found his hands and likes to grab at toys and his toes and gives lots of smiles to family and friends!

October | October was a great month for enjoying family! Jonah got to take his first trip to the Pumpkin Farm, watch Uncle Bryce play football and also got to meet his new cousin, Brody. This month, Jonah has learned to eat baby food and has found that he can fit his toes in his mouth. He is just starting to sit up all by himself and likes to jump in his jumping chair. Although Jonah doesn't know what the word means, he can say "mama" and makes mommy smile when he does. Daddy is still trying for "dada".

November | November Dear Jonah, This month we have so much to be thankful for. We are thankful for you and the joy that you bring to our lives and we pray that you grow to be a strong, healthy little boy that loves Jesus. We love you, Mommy & Daddy

December Jonah celebrated his first Christmas this month. We think he enjoyed rolling around in the unwrapped paper as much as he did his new presents. Among his first Christmas also came his first tooth that sits on the bottom of his gums. He has gotten very good at sitting and playing with toys and likes to catch and roll any type of ball. He has started giving what Mommy thinks are kisses. Really he is just slobbering on her face. Jonah is also figuring out his voice! He can now babble like a pro and can say 'dada'.

January | This month Jonah has been on the move. He continually wants to stand up with Mommy or Daddy's help and is very close to crawling. He has become attached to his little yellow blanky and puts himself to sleep with a combination of his blanky and thumb. Jonah is starting to get picky on his food choices and decided he really likes yogurt and only yogurt. Fingers are crossed that this is a phase!

It has been fun watching Jonah learn and grow in February. He has learned how to crawl and can pull himself up all by himself. His quirks are starting to come out with his little personality. He will let us clean his ears, clean his belly button, he will even sit still while we cut his finger and toe nails but heaven forbid we ever wipe his runny nose. Jonah will sit contently watching while Mommy blow dries her hair because he likes the noise. Jonah also loves reading books - he can even choose which book he wants to read and turn the pages. Jonah has a fondness for kitties and monkeys and his love for yogurt has only grown. | F e b r u a r y

March | This month Jonah is a go-go-going! He has found his way around the house by crawling and easily pulls himself up onto things. Little by little he is finding balance and will soon be able to stand by himself. Jonah likes to play with anything that is not a toy and loves the dishwasher. When he hears Mommy open it, he comes as quick as he can before she shuts the dish washer door back up. | We have been thankful for the beautiful early spring weather. Jonah loves to go outside for walks in his stroller or sit outside while Mommy & Daddy work - especially when then are not looking so he can put leaves and grass in his mouth. | Jonah's hair is growing and despite Mommy's attempts to keep it down, it sticks straight up in a feathery fohawk. He also has two new additions to his mouth- his top two teeth have popped through.

April It's hard to believe that in one short month we will be celebrating Jonah's first birthday. In April, Jonah has learned to clap his hands and wave "bye-bye". He took his first trip to the beach and loved the sand so much that he got mad at Mommy and Daddy when it was time to go. Also this month, Jonah is learning what the word 'no' means as he creates many opportunities for Mommy & Daddy to use it. Jonah is an all-around sweet little boy who loves to cuddle up with his blanky. We are so excited to see what the next year brings in little Jonah.
