BC: Ephesians 6:1-4 Children, obey your parents because you belong to the Lord, for this is the right thing to do. Honor your father and mother. This is the first commandment with a promise: If you honor your father and mother, things will go well for you, and you will have a long life on the earth. Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger by the way you treat them. Rather, bring them up with the discipline and instruction that comes from the Lord

How We Found Out | On December 21st, we found out Mommy was pregnant. We estimated she was around six weeks along.
How We Told Our Family & Friends | We were going to wait until the first trimester was over, but we couldn't contain our excitement especially since Christmas was right around the corner!! So, on Christmas Day we surprised everyone!
 Our Visit to Missouri...
19 Weeks | First sign of baby bump at 20 1/2 weeks | The first trimester was a big struggle. I was an emotional wreck not to mention it was hard to stay healthy during the winter. I was continuously sick the month of January, between the colds, the flu and morning sickness I was physically and emotionally drained. I felt like I was never going to recover and slept all the time (so much daddy would make fun of me). I was constantly craving foods grandma makes and fried foods but was never able to indulge because I would become very nauseous after the first bite. There was not much mommy wanted to smile about. Then magically at around thirteen weeks the morning sickness went away right along with the colds, and I was able to eat more than crackers and toast without being nauseated! Then I heard your heartbeat at the second appointment and started to cry. It was a huge relief and then mommy couldn't stop smiling...
Fun Milestones... | ~ Feb. 15th: The first time we heard your heartbeat. (147bpm) ~March 1st: Mommy started to feel you move. ~March 23rd: Daddy felt you kick for the first time!
19th week ultrasound | "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb." Psalm 139:13
Our first ultrasound was on March 30th . Before the appointment daddy and I decided we did not want to find out your gender because we knew we would love you no matter what. It was absolutely amazing to see all your tiny features up on the big screen! It made my heart melt. You were so active for the camera too. We were able to watch you drum your tiny little fingers along your nose and then put them in your mouth, sit with your legs crossed at your ankles, cover your privates so we couldn't peek, you even got the hiccups! Your daddy and I were both smiling from ear to ear. We both felt so blessed especially when Dr. Abitz came into the room and announced you were a healthy baby!

2nd Trimester March-May | Surprise Baby Shower! | Visited Auntie Crystal, and your cousins! | Ultrasound! (140 bpm) | Starting this trimester I started really gaining the weight, at every appointment I gained at least eight pounds! Along with the weight gain came aches and pains...sleeping at night became harder and harder because I had so much round ligament pain. However, seeing my belly grow was a constant reminder how truly blessed we are. Your movements were becoming more and more noticeable. I was able to tell when you were hiccuping, rolling over and kicking me. It was an amazing feeling. Daddy and I could hardly contain our excitement for what was next in this extraordinary journey...

We volunteered at the church Wize'N'''' up program. We had our 2nd anniversary. And to top it off Miss Lulu came to visit! But even though it was crazy busy, I cherished every movement you made from kicking me in the ribs to rolling over. It was another reminder how truly blessed we were.

Progress | Our Labor Story | Two days later...on Saturday,August 20th, I started getting a backache. However, I never thought anything of it because we have been working really hard at getting moved into our new home. Around 12:30 in the morning, I started feeling some cramping, I wasn't sure it was normal ,I went into the closet where there was a light so I would not disturb daddy while he was sleeping to read if this was something to expect when going into labor and sure enough it was! About that time daddy woke up and asked me if everything was okay so I let him know what was happening. Realizing we were in the very early stages of labor we laid back down in bed and timed the contractions. After about forty five minutes of timing we noticed they were slowly getting stronger so we started to pack the overnight bag for the hospital. Once we did that we called the hospital to see when we should come in and they told us whenever we were ready it was fine because they had availability. It was about 1:45am and we decided it was time to wake grandma and grandpa so they would have time to get ready. Then the funniest thing happened, grandma and grandpa was so tired when I woke them up grandpa said, "It's time for church already?" and grandma said, "Wow that was the best nights sleep I have had in a long time!" The funny part was they had only been sleeping for a couple hours!! We laughed about that for quite sometime...About 2:40am we headed to the hospital, my contractions were starting to get really strong. Once we got all checked in and put in the delivery room it was around 3:00am, the nurse checked me and I was only dilated to a 4! I was shocked because the contractions already felt pretty intense, I really had to focus on breathing. Thankfully, your daddy was there holding my hand every step of the way helping me stay focused and keep breathing. We decided to get an epidural to help get me through the pain, however we had to wait for the anesthesiologist to get to the hospital. The next couple of hours turned out to be the hardest. The pain was more intense then I ever imagined, my body was shaking uncontrollably throughout every contraction which by this point was happening every other minute. Finally at 5:30am the anesthesiologist arrived and gave the epidural. I was so scared to receive the injection, even your daddy had to look away because the needle was so big. But shockingly it just felt like a quick punch in my back and then the medicine was in. The nurse then let me lie back down and we waited for about ten minutes for the medicine to work. | Sleepy grandpa and grandma!
The the nurse came back and checked me again and I was already at 8cm!! Thankfully, they checked me after the injection otherwise they would have denied the epidural because I was technically already to far along. The next hour felt like a breeze..daddy and I talked about how excited we were to meet you and took pictures to capture the moment. We laughed and took pictures of grandma and grandpa because they were sleeping in the funny positions. The best part of it all I got to still move my legs and feel contractions without any pain! But, unfortunately now that the pain was gone I started worry about the next part, the actual delivery part. So, I asked daddy to say a prayer for me, so God would help me ease my worries. After that happened, I started to feel a weird sensation and realized I was feeling my water break!! Knowing that not every woman in labor gets the opportunity to feel this part of the delivery, made me very happy!! Daddy went and got the nurse to let her know (6:30am) my water broke. The nurse came in and confirmed my assumption at 7:00 the announced I was officially 10 cm and could start pushing whenever I was ready. Even though I was scared, I was ready. The pressure was starting to be extremely noticeable. But, once again we had to wait for the doctor to show up. In the meantime the nurse came in and help walk me through on how to push for a easier delivery. At about 7:20am we started to push with the nurse whenever a contraction came about. After a couple of series of pushes the nurse informed me I needed to stop because I was fully crowned and the doctor was not here yet. All daddy could say was, "I can see it's head and there is hair on it!" Finally the doctor came in at 7:45 and guess what I had to wait 5 more minutes until I had another contraction. Go figure... on the first push your hear came out, daddy's response, "um..eww "with that he moved closer to mommy's head. On the second push there you were, at 7:59 am. Dr. Cleveland announced, Congratulations you have BABY BOY! All I could do was cry and all your daddy could say was, "Wow we were right!"
It's a BOY! | The doctor laid you on my chest and the first thing you did was jerk off my glasses! It was priceless! My goodness, I couldn't believe how precious you were, and now you were finally in my arms. All the tears couldn't even begin to express how much I loved you. and will keep loving you.
