BC: Just Me and You :-)
My journey through the pregnancy is one that I will never forget! There has been no greater experience in my life than carrying my little guy. The past 8 months have been filled with excitement, fear, tears, and joy...not to mention the occasional embarrassing moment! As I get closer to my due date I'm experiencing every kind of emotion there is. Above all, a type of love that I've never known. Can't wait to see you! Love, Mommy
I was playing the role of a pregnant woman that was due any day. I remember the first time I put on the pregnancy belly I began to rub it. I was told this is something that actors do and not pregnant women. Funny thing is I find myself constantly rubbing my stomach now that I'm actually pregnant! That taught me that there is no wrong choice when you're acting. Different people do different things. It's up to the actor to make it believable and I clearly wasn't that day! Back to my story...I thought this huge belly was hilarious and decided to send the picture to the right to my family with the following message,"There's something I need to tell you." Oh how we laughed...not knowing I was actually pregnant at the time! Which explains why I was nauseous opening night!!!
Watching you grow for 8 months... Seemed like it took forever to get a true baby bump...now I can't remember how I looked before! I remember going through a stage where I didn't want to leave the house because I didn't have a bump but just looked like I gained weight. I couldn't wait to get a real bump. Next was the stage where my bump had finally shown itself and I thought it was the cutest thing ever! Now? Well, I'm back to the point of feeling fat and not wanting to leave the house. I have a new found appreciation for my mother...she did this 3 times! Baby boy... will you ever stop growing? Everyday I wake up and think I can't possibly have gotten any bigger. That's when I look in the mirror. The scale is now showing numbers that are foreign to me...ah well, guess I'm growing a football player :-)
Oh the joy of being pregnant! So I have a confession...one of the first thoughts that came to my mind when I discovered I was pregnant was "I can eat whatever I want!!!" I then proceeded to do just that!...Until I realized whatever I gain I have to eventually lose. (Not fair!) The only cravings I had happened early in my first and second trimesters. Before I knew I was preggo I wanted Mexican Pizza's all the time (and I don't even like Taco Bell). The thought of that makes me sick to the stomach now. Then suddenly I craved beef...mainly steaks...all..the...time. Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a chicken, turkey, seafood kind of girl. Should have known then you were a boy! I haven't had any true cravings this last trimester. BUT, if anyone mentions food or if I'm watching someone eat on TV, I want whatever they're having and will stop at NOTHING to get it! It's like I see myself eating it as they're talking...sad I know! LOL
I remember my doctor pointing to this itty-bitty dot on the screen. "That's your baby" she said. I have to admit that it was hard for me to get excited over...well a dot. It still didn't seem real to me. She then proceeded to talk about what I assume were things that I could expect in the coming 9 months. I honestly didn't hear a word she said. All I could think was..."I'm pregnant." One day I will share with you in more detail of what this moment was like for me. It was at that moment that I realized my life would be changing forever...
"You must be mistaken...I'm having a girl."
Yes, those were the words that came out of my mouth when my doctor revealed to me that you were a boy. I was in denial. I so wanted a girl...or so I thought. I had a name picked out and everything. I think you got fed up with my calling you a girl because you revealed yourself earlier than expected! My doctor warned me that it was much too early to detect and not to get my hopes up (because I kept asking). But as soon as that screen came on you showed us and continued to "show us" throughout the rest of the ultra sound! The doctor and nurse laughed the entire time. It's like you were saying "Mommy I'm a boy...get over it!" Sometimes we think we know what we want but it isn't until God gives us what we need when we realize that was the better choice all along! Now I couldn't imagine not having a baby boy!
I initially thought I would have a hard time finding a suitable name for my baby boy. I've held on to a name for a girl since I was in college and honestly never thought about a boy's name. But when I came across the name I selected, I knew immediately it was the one! The middle name wasn't so easy. I decided on a name but it just didn't feel right. As I thought about the type of man I've asked God for you to be, I thought about the man in my life that has been that and more. That's when I decided to name you after him. Together these two names are powerful and have set you up for greatness! I'm excited to soon announce you to the world!
When I was 24 weeks, I began to have early contractions. This is something I will never forget. From that point on I didn't care what else was going on in my life. All I could think about (even to this day) is carrying you full term and getting you here safely. I was in and out of the hospital for a few weeks as they tried to stop me from going into pre-term labor. The only joy I got during that time was hearing your heartbeat. The medication began to affect you & wasn't working anyway. So on my last visit (although scared), I refused the medication and prayed. I will always be grateful to God for getting me through that time and keeping you healthy. He truly heard my prayers!
I honestly can't remember your first kick. I can however remember the first time you began to kick without stop for hours at a time! Well, it was my fault... I was about 31 weeks and reading about things that should occur during that time. As I was reading about how many kicks I should be feeling I suddenly panicked because I thought I hadn't felt you move all morning...(even though it was only about 8am and I had actually felt you move before I got up). Well, I shook my belly really hard and it clearly startled you because you began to kick constantly for the rest of the day...and have continued ever since!
My parents and brother took a special trip from Michigan down here to Atlanta just so they could see me pregnant! We had a really good time and got to celebrate my dad's birthday. They took your cousins - who can't wait to meet you by the way - to the Georgia Aquarium and they had a ball! To the right are some pictures from that visit. They of course will be back for your big day! Your cousin Garland lives here in Atlanta and is SUPER excited about your arrival. He's already shown me numerous toys he's approved for you to play with :-) That's him and Titus playing in his bedroom...can't wait to see all 4 of you together!
We have been on this journey together for 8 months now and I can't believe I get to meet you in one month! I've been on a roller coaster of emotions throughout this pregnancy but every second has been worth it!
I see us doing many things together. As you already know (or will soon find out) I am very passionate about acting. You already had a job offer and an agency ready to sign you! (shocked myself!) I of course will follow your lead and allow you to pursue whatever it is you desire. I know you will be great at whatever you choose because it's in your genes. I'm so excited to be your mommy!!!
