S: Juliana's 1st Pregnancy Journal

FC: A baby is something you carry | inside of you for nine months, | In your arms for three years... | and in your heart till the day you die." | Pregnancy | Journal

This book is to document the time from when we decided to try to get pregnant to the day of going into labor and welcoming our first child, Baby Nicole Nunes Schallert into the world on November 26, 2011

Progress | Juliana Eneriz Pereira Nunes | Juliana, the mom-to-be, was born on October 24, 1980 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She has one younger sister Gabriela and they were both educated in Catholic schools. Juliana moved to the USA in July 2002 to attend RIT with a scholarship. She graduated in 2004 and in 2005 started working for Dawning. Juliana likes to travel and enjoys having lots of friends. She also enjoys the beach, dolphins and during the summer, she counts rainbows!

Gregory Scott Schallert | Greg, the dad-to-be, was born on April 14, 1977 in Oneonta, NY. He is the oldest of three. Greg also attended RIT and even though he was there for 10 years, he only met Juliana after graduation, also in 2004. Greg likes to read, work on the yard, play poker, fix old cars, juggle and etc... he has lots of hobbies that keeps him very busy. His life dream is to have a family and kids.

Rio de Janeiro | Sambaing in Carnival just hours before conceiving...

The decision to have a child is to accept that your heart will forever walk about outside your body. - Katherine Hadley | March 12, 2011

How We Found Out | The newly parents Juju & Greg met in 2005 at work in Rochester, NY. In 2006 they moved to Fort Myers, FL and started dating soon after. On April 17, 2010 they got married. Since the start of the relationship Greg would always demonstrate his passion for kids and his huge desire to become a father. Juju enjoyed the idea but wanted to wait a couple of years before starting a family. After the wedding they decided they wanted to have 2 kids by 2014, when the World Cup will be held in Rio de Janeiro. Juju didn't want to be pregnant or breast-feeding a new born and miss the party happening just a few blocks from her house. They also decided to enjoy one last Carnival in Rio before trying to get pregnant. Juju wanted to stop the pills after the trip, but once arriving there she realized she had not taken them. Rio was a lot of fun, drinks and party involved so they slowed down on the "practicing" for a couple of days. haha

On their return to Fort Myers, on Sunday March 13th, 2011 they conceived!!! Only 14 days after stopping the pill!!! That was quick!!! Today is March 31st, Greg flew to Rochester for a couple of days and Juju left work thinking about babies and if she should stop at a drug store and do her 1st pregnancy test of her life!!! On the way down the stairs, she sees a friend who just had a baby and says: good to see you with your little princess, I was just considering purchasing a pregnancy test. The lady mentions about buying them at Dollar Store as they are a lot cheaper. Some people may take months to get pregnant and that could cost a lot of money, she said. Juju goes to Dollar Tree and buys 2 pregnancy tests and one Ovulation test for the next month. | March 31, 2011

How We Found Out | Juju comes home, without her hubby who is away, and decides to take the test. She could not believe her eyes when she saw the two lines!!! Wow... I AM PREGNANT she screamed in the bathroom looking at herself in the mirror. Wow I AM GONNA BE A MOM!!!! Wow...what a miracle!! She thanked God, prayed and hoped everything goes well from now on and then called her mom in Brazil, who could not believe it!!! Today, March 31st 2011 I became the happiest person in life and I just can't wait to tell the big news to my hubby. On April 14th, his birthday, we will be on a cruise and I believe that will be the perfect time to share the news!!!! Love you Gregory. Love you Baby!!! ~ From mom, Juju

Little info... | Fetal Growth: Conception to Birth You're pregnant. Congratulations! Are you curious how big your developing baby is, what your baby looks like as it grows inside you, and when you'll feel it move? Take a peek inside the womb to see how a fetus develops from month to month. Conception: If a sperm cell meets and penetrates an egg, it will fertilize it. This is known as conception. At this moment, the genetic makeup is complete, including the sex of the infant. Within about three days after conception, the fertilized egg, which is dividing rapidly into many cells, passes through the fallopian tube into the uterus, where it attaches to the uterine wall. The placenta, which will nourish the baby, also begins to form.

Today is certainly one of the happiest days of my life. The day we met our baby-froggie for the first time!!! We had our first ultra-sound today at 7 weeks and 4 days. We also discovered the possible due date is December 8th, what makes me even happier as itÂ’s the birthdatesÂ’ of my best guy-friend in Brazil. Daddy Greg was at the doctorÂ’s office with me and met Dr. William Rincon. We both liked him and I was happy to discover he has no problems doing C-section when the time comes. Baby-froggie will probably be born at Health Park Center Hospital in Fort Myers, a beautiful local hospital near the beach. | April 25, 2011

Life hasn't been so perfect for me like some people in my family believe. So to make me happy,, I have emerged myself into baby world, I have been playing around with room furniture and nursery colors. The guest room has already moved to the office. The office has disappeared. The nursery is empty and needs some splash paint. We will wait til we find out froggie's sex, but so far the room is blue. Hoping for a boy, I guess! | May 20, 2011

 My Own Fruit Salad!!!!!

Eating healthy ... to have a healthy baby.!!!

1st Trimester Summary | My first trimester was a breeze... I was expecting to puck my brains out and have the worse morning sickness anyone could have. I know it's not the same, but I usually have the worse hangovers and puck all day. I am very glad my body is reacting fine to froggie. Today May 26th, we are moving to the second trimester and the risks for miscarriages are a lot smaller. I actually was never too concerned about it as I prefer to look at the good side of things and be positivist. Bad things don't happen to me... so why worry about it? Baby froggie is the size of a plum this week!!! I am enjoying every minute of this pregnancy. The only thing I kinda don't like is the mood swings... sometimes I am extra happy, sometimes extra frustated. I guess that's normal!

On Monday May 23rd, I had my 2nd pre-natal visit with the doctor. I really like my new gynacologist. He is from Colombia and very friendly, differently from most American doctors. We used a doppler to hear the baby's heart beat. Again I was pretty happy to hear baby froggie again. I have purchased a non-powerful doppler on Ebay to use at home but haven't been able to find froggie yet. Maybe as he grows bigger it gets easier. Not much of a belly yet. Can't wait to start showing on my clothes my froggie belly! On Thursday May 26th, Joana (Tati's friend) gave me TONS of baby stuff. I got a car seat, nursing chair, pack & play, toys and clothes!!! I am very thankful for other mom's that like donating! I certainly like receiving =)

 Great Baby Photo Ideas!!!

12 Weeks | Fetal Development at 12 Weeks The fetus measures about 2 inches and starts to make its own movements. You may start to feel the top of your uterus above the pelvic bone. Your doctor may hear the baby's heartbeat with special instruments. The sex organs of the baby should start to become clear. | Brazilian Valentine's Day

Belly Bump at 14 weeks | 3 pounds gained so far

16 Weeks | Fetal Development at 16 Weeks The fetus now measures about 4.3 to 4.6 inches and weighs about 3.5 ounces. The top of your uterus should be felt about 3 inches below your belly button. The baby's eyes can blink and the heart and blood vessels are fully formed. The baby's fingers and toes should have fingerprints.

At 16 weeks we spent 4th of July weekend in Miami with my sister Gabi and her friend Ana Paula. Gabi was very happy to see me and my cute little baby bump. We had a great time there. Gabi brought baby froggie a bunch of "Auntie love you" onsies. Very cute! | Miami Weekend | I was the DD for the weekend and they really appreciated that! Fun Fun Miami Days!!! | Exploding???

The baby can suck a thumb, yawn, stretch, and make faces. Soon -- if you haven't already -- you'll feel your baby move, which is called "quickening." | Lunch at Olive Gardens

On the last week of July, my mother in law Cindy spent 10 days with us in Fort Myers. Baby Nicole is now moving and kicking all the time. This week Cindy, Tati, Tia Rita & Michelli were able to feel her movement. It's a very special moment for mommy Juju =)

20 Weeks | Time for an Ultrasound An ultrasound is generally performed for all pregnant women at 20 weeks of gestation. During this ultrasound, the doctor will confirm that the placenta is healthy and attached normally and that your baby is growing properly in the uterus. The baby's heartbeat and movement of its body, arms, and legs can also be seen on the ultrasound. The gender of the baby can usually be determined at 20 weeks.

 Before & After

A Newborn's Conversation with God A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, But how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?" God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you." The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have To do anything but sing and smile to be happy." God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy." Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand When people talk to me if I don't know the language?" God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words You will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will Teach you how to speak."

"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?" God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach You how to pray." "Who will protect me?" God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life." "But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore." God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach You the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you." At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth Could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave Now, please tell me my angel's name." God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."

We love you baby Nicole | She has daddy's face!

36 Weeks | Fetal Development at 36 Weeks Babies differ in size, depending on many factors (such as gender, the number of babies being carried, and size of the parents), so your baby's overall rate of growth is as important as the actual size. On average, it's about 18.5 inches and weighs close to 6 pounds. The brain has been developing rapidly. Lungs are nearly fully developed. The head is usually positioned down into the pelvis by now. A pregnancy is considered "at term" once 37 weeks has been completed!

38 Weeks | A mother's due date marks the end of her 40th week. A pregnancy begins with implantation and the delivery date can be calculated using the first day of the last period. Based on this, pregnancy can last between 38 and 42 weeks with a full-term delivery occurring around 40 weeks. Some post-term pregnancies -- those lasting more than 42 weeks -- are not truly post-term. A common "cause" is an incorrect due date. For safety reasons, most babies are delivered by 42 weeks, inducing labor if necessary. ------- | Baby Nicole was a good girl and waited for her grandparents to arrive! 15 hours later...
