BC: A New Birth Loving God, morning has come again into our lives. The sunshine of a new birth brightens our entire family. We pray for your help, that this child's life will be guided by your ways. We know that we will not do everything right, so we ask that you help us do enough of the right things so this child will flourish, always aware of our love, always aware of your love. Amen
FC: "A baby is something you carry | inside of you for nine months, | in your arms for three years... | and in your heart 'til the day you die."
1: This book is to cherish the moments from when we found out we were pregnant to welcoming our first child, Clarissa Rose Buttersworth into the world on February 7th, 2013
2: The decision to have a child is to accept that your heart will forever walk about outside your body. - Katherine Hadley | Mommy and Daddy met in late May of 2007. We dated, fell in love and were engaged on March 18, 2010. On March 19, 2011 we were married. After marrying, we attended the Natural Family Planning (NFP) classes offered by the Catholic Church. After a year of practicing NFP we decided to open our hearts up to God's plan.
3: How We Found Out | Monday, May 21st, 2012 started as any other. I went to work feeling healthy, a few hours into the day I started feeling ill. I had abdominal cramping and was nauseated; being a trooper I made it through the day. I drove home and lay in bed trying to feel better. When that didn't work I gave in and called Michael at work to take me to the hospital. The name of the doctor on duty was Dr. Hajo; he ordered several blood tests and started me on IV fluids. Awhile later, he came in with the results and told us I had a confirmed case of food poisoning. In addition, he said there was another test that also came back positive. At that time he told us we were pregnant. Michael and I were happily surprised. He tested my hCG levels and they came in at 58, confirming we were probably three weeks pregnant. Since I was suffering from food poisoning Dr. Hajo decided it would be best to stay in the hospital overnight. He kept me in the hospital three days.
4: HCG Levels | Human Chorionic Gonadotropin The most common test used to detect a pregnancy in the very early weeks uses hCG. About eight to ten days after conception, when the baby has implanted into the uterine lining, the hCG hormone is released into the woman's blood stream. The hCG blood level will initially start off very low (5 mIU/ml), but rapidly increase, doubling every few days, within three to seven days the hCG levels become high enough to be detected in the woman's urine, at about 50 to 80 mIU/ml.
5: Abuela Miriam had met us at the hospital earlier. She was outside of the room when the doctor told us we were pregnant. When she finally entered the room the doctor was informing us that I was staying the night, when he said “since you are pregnant," mom dropped her cane and phone and screamed for joy. She gave Michael a big hug and leaned over the hospital bed to hug me. Hours later when we were finally settled into my hospital room we had a chance to call Grandma Linda and Grandpa Joe in Savannah, GA. Grandma Linda was so worried about me she almost didn't hear the news. I told them that the medications the hospital gave me for the food poisoning weren't going to hurt the baby. It took her a minute to understand the full impact of what we were telling them. They were both so excited to hear the news, they thought we were joking. | How the Grands found out

Dear Heavenly Father, I think and praise You for the gift of all human life, I am most especially grateful for the new life within my womb – the unborn child forming deep within me.
