1: Acknowledgements A recipe is more than instructions for a favorite dish. Sharing recipes can join the ties of friendship and start family traditions. Cooking fills a home with warmth and coziness, provides quality time for families, builds childhood memories and provides nourishment to those who gather at the table. To our children, Frank and Tara, we hope you and your families enjoy many years of these wonderful but simple recipes. We have also included some of your favorite dishes that you have brought to our table.. A special thank you to Grandma Dorothy Schnieders and Grandma Betty Roush for sharing their recipes that we have enjoyed for many years. Love, Mom and Dad

3: 12-15 chicken wings 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine melted 1/4 cup Red Hot Durkee's Sauce (or more to taste) Split wings at each joint and discard tips. Bake in 425 degree oven until crisp, turn halfway through. Drain. Combine hot sauce and butter until butter is melted, stir to mix thoroughly. Serve with Ranch dressing. | Finger Lickin' Good Hot Chicken Wings (or legs)

4: Barbecued Meatballs 1 13 oz. can milnot 3 lbs. hamburger 2 cups quick oatmeal 2 eggs 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. chili powder 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 cup onion (chopped) Make into balls. Bake 1/2 hr. at 350 degrees Pour off grease.. Sauce 2 cups ketchup 1 cup brown sugar 1 tbsp. liquid smoke 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 1/2 cup chopped onion Cover with sauce and put in crockpot to heat. | Mom made this recipe for many Christmas Eves.

5: Frank's Favorite Sausage Pizza Breads | 2 lbs. sausage 1 lb. velveeta cheese 1 tsp. ketchup 1/2 tsp. garlic salt 3 tbsp. A-1 steak sauce 1 tsp. oregano 2 small cans pizza sauce (6 oz.) Fry sausage and drain. Mix sausage, cheese and all ingredients until cheese is melted on low heat. Spread over party rye bread. Sprinkle with parmesan cheese. Bake 5-10 minutes at 450.

6: Mom's Salsa 4-5 lbs. fresh tomatoes Mrs. Wages Salsa Mix White Vinegar Dip tomatoes in boiling water, when skins start to split remove and dip in cold water. Peel and dice tomatoes. Mix Mrs. Wages mix per package, add chopped tomatoes and bring to boil. Pour boiling salsa in hot jars. I put jars and lids in boiling water which makes them seal better.

7: Tara's Texas Cavier 1 can black beans 1 can blackeyed peas 1 can shorpeg corn 1 can rotel, drained 8 oz. Italian dressing green onions, diced purple onion, diced 2 tbsp. lime juice 2 tbsp. minced garlic Mix all of the above.

8: Grandma Schnieders Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup 1 whole chicken, butchered, plucked and cooked Mix 1 egg with 1 cup flour, pinch of salt to flavor, stir with fork until crumbled into little balls. Add the mixture to boiling chicken broth. Cook until tender, add pieces of chicken to soup.

9: Audrey and Sophia right before Halloween 2011. | Grammy's Vegetable Beef Soup | 1 lb. stew meat 4-5 medium potatoes 2-3 carrots, chopped in small pieces frozen peas and corn (optional) 1 can chopped tomatoes in basil & oregano Cook meat until tender. Add vegetables to broth and boil until tender. Add meat. Add salt, pepper and sugar to taste.

10: Mom's Homemade Chicken Noodle Soup | 1 - 49 1/2 oz. can chicken broth 2 cups cubed cooked chicken 1/2 cup coarsely chopped carrots 1/2 cup sliced celery 1/4 cup chopped onion 1 bay leaf salt, pepper, and, parsley Combine broth, chicken, carrots, celery, onion & bay leaf. Season to taste with salt, pepper, parsley. Add noodles & cook until tender. Combine flour with water until smooth. Gradually stir into soup. Cook until thickened, about 3 minutes. Remove bay leaf.

11: Taco Soup 1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained 1 - 28 oz. can kidney beans 1 - 28 oz. can diced tomatoes 1 - 14 oz. can corn (do not drain liquid) Add all ingredients into the bean pot (or crockpot) and cover. Add 1-2 packets of taco seasoning and stir. Serve with sour cream, cheese and tortillas or corn chips.

12: The kids love their Dad's Chili - no one can make it quite like him. Nothing is better on a cold wintry day than having a bowl of Dad's steaming delicious chili with cheese and crackers.

13: Dad's Chili | 1 lb. ground beef, cooked and drained salt & pepper to taste 1 can diced tomatoes with basil and oregano 1 large can Brooks chili beans 1/2 pkg. Williams Chili seasoning 1/2 can tomato juice. Mix all of the above, add a little sugar.

14: Chinese Cole Slaw | 1 head cabbage or 2 bags 2 pkgs. beef ramen noodles 1 bunch green onions, green pepper, chopped Dressing: 3/4 cup sugar 1/2 cup oil 1/3 cup vinegar 2 pkgs. ramen noodle seasoning Toss and serve

16: Creamed Peas and New Potatoes 1 1/2 lbs. (15) tiny new potatoes 1 to 1 1/2 cups fresh peas 3 tbsp. sliced green onion 4 tsp. butter or margarine 4 tsp. flour 1 cup milk Scrub potatoes. Cook in boiling salted water until soft. Drain. Meanwhile cook peas & onion in small amount of boiling salted water, drain. Make sauce of butter, flour, dash salt and milk. Combine vegetables and sauce.

17: Madison's House Salad 1 head iceberg lettuce 1/2 bunch of Romaine lettuce, torn 1 can artichokes, drained and cut up 1 cup red onion, sliced thin Chill for 30 minutes. Dressing: 2/3 cup olive oil 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. pepper 1/3 cup red vinegar wine 2/3 cup Parmesan cheese Mix in salad.

18: Pasta Salad 6 oz. spagetti, cooked 6 oz. Rotina noodles, cooked 1 cucumber diced 1 purple onion, diced 1-2 tomatoes, diced 1 large green pepper, diced 1 cup Kraft's Zesty Italian Dressing 1/2 bottle McCormick Salad Supreme Toss together and refrigerate.

19: Grandma Roush's Fried Green Beans 2 cans green beans bacon, fried (save grease) garlic powder sugar onion flakes Heat bacon grease, in skillet, add green beans, garlic powder, sugar, and onion flakes. Fry until tender. You can also add bacon pieces.

20: Tara's Favorite Beans | 1 1/2 lb. hamburger, fried 1/2 lbs. bacon, fried 28 oz. can of pork and beans 15 oz. can lima beans 15 oz. can kidney beans 1 cup chopped onion 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup ketchup 1 tsp. salt 2 tsp. vinegar 1 tsp. mustard Mix and serve

21: Grandma Roush's Dumplings 2 cups flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 3 tbsp shortening 3/4 cup hot water Chicken broth or broth from cooked chicken Mix flour, baking powder, salt, shortening and water. Roll out into thin strips or squares. Add to boiling chicken broth.

22: Grandma Schnieders' Fried Noodles 1 egg, beaten 1 cup milk 1 cup flour Mix - should make stiff dough - may need to add more more flour, salt to taste. Roll out, cut into strips. Drop in boiling water until tender, drain. Fry in hot oil.

23: Grandma Schnieders Sauerkraut & Potatoes | 4-5 medium potatoes, cubed 1 cup sauerkraut Boil potatoes until soft. Pour most of the water off. Add sauerkraut and about 1 tbsp. bacon grease. Heat until warm.

24: Oven Beef Stew | 2 lbs. beef stew meat, trimmed 4 medium potatoes, cut into 1-inch chunks 6 medium carrots, cut into 1/2 inch chunks 1 medium onion, chopped 2 cups tomato juice 1 cup water 3 tbsp. quick cooking tapioca 1 tsp. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. black pepper Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a 9x13 baking dish with nonstick spray. Combine beef, carrots and onions, mix well. In a large bowl, combine the remaining ingredients. Pour over beef and vegetables. . Cover tightly with aluminum foil and bake for 2 - 2 /14 hrs. or until beef and vegetables are tender.

25: Homemade Pizza Crust: 1 pkg. dry yeast 1 cup warm water 1 tsp. sugar 2 1/2 cups flour 1 tsp. lite salt (optional) Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water, add sugar & let stand 10 minutes. Add remaining water, flour, and salt and beat very well until dough is smooth. Place dough in bowl sprayed with non-fat cooking spray. Cover and let rise until doubled. Divide dough in half and let stand 10 minutes. Roll out for pizza pan. Basic Sauce: 1 26 3/4 oz can Hunts Light Spaghetti Sauce 1 can tomato paste (6 oz.) 1/2 lb. ground meat (or turkey) 1/2 tsp. garlic powder 1/2 tsp. dried basil 1/4 tsp. dried oregano 1/2 tsp. dried thyme Toppings: 1 (8 oz.) can mushrooms, rinsed & drained 1/4 cup chopped onion 1/4 cup chopped green pepper 1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese 1/4 cup Parmesan cheese Place dough on pan sprayed with non-sticking cooking spray. Spoon sauce on top of crust. Top with toppings. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake at 450 degrees for 8-10 minutes.

26: Meat Loaf | 2 lbs. ground beef 1 cup oatmeal 1/2 tsp. pepper 1 chopped onion 2eggs 1 tsp. salt 2 tbsp. minced parsley Sauce: 1/2 cup ketchup 1 1/2 tsp. prepared mustard 1/2 tsp. ground nutmeg 1/3 cup brown sugar 2 tbsp. cider vinegar Mix meatloaf using 1/2 of the sauce. The rest of the sauce is put on the top of the meatloaf the last 20 minutes. Bake for one hr. at 350 degrees.

27: Grandma Roush's Boogin | 5 lbs. beef sliced in strips 4 green onions, chopped 2/3 cup sugar 4 tbsp. sesame oil 2 tbsp. sesame seeds 1/2 cup soy sauce 1 tbsp. Accent Black pepper to taste Mix the above and cook in hot skillet for 8-10 minutes. Serve over rice.

28: 2 cans tuna, drained 1 can peas, drained 2 cups cooked egg noodles 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1/2 can of milk grated cheese Cook egg noodles, drain. Mix together tuna, peas, noodles, mushroom soup and milk. Put in casserole dish. Cover with grated cheese. Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. | Tuna Noodle Casserole

29: Grandma Roush's Eggrolls | 1/2 head cabbage, shredded chopped onion 1 cup soy sauce 1 cup water Cook until firm, drain off water. Fry sausage with a little tabasco sauce. Lay eggrolls on cabinet. Place sausage and cabbage in them and seal. Deep fry in hot oil.

30: All I want for Christmas is ...

31: Mom's Christmas Breakfast Casserole | 1 lb. ground pork sausage 1 tsp. mustard powder 1/2 tsp. salt 4 eggs, beaten 2 cups milk 6 slices white bread, toasted and cut into cubes 8 oz. mild Cheddar cheese, shredded Crumble sausage into a medium skillet. Cook over medium heat until evenly brown; drain. In a medium bowl, mix together mustard powder, salt, eggs and milk. Add the sausage, bread cubes and cheese, and stir to coat evenly. Pour into greased 9x13 dish. Cover and chill overnight. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Baked covered for 45 to 60 minutes. Uncover, and reduce temperature to 325 degrees. Bake for an additional 30 minutes, or until set

32: 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in 2 cups warm water 2 tbsp. oleo or margarine soften Add enough flour until you can knead by hand Place dough in bread pans and let rise . Bake in 350 oven until golden brown. | Grandma Schnieders Homemade Bread | Great Grandma Schnieders with Sophia!

33: Grandma Scshnieders' donuts are the best donuts I've ever eaten! Great Grandma holding Audrey! | Grandma Schnieders Homemade Donuts | 1 pkg. yeast, dissolved in hot water 1 stick butter 1 cup mashed potatoes 1-2 cups flour Let dough rise and then roll out - cut out donuts. Cook in boiling oil until brown.

34: Monkey Bread 3 12 oz. pkgs. refrigerated biscuits 1 cup white sugar 2 tsp. ground cinnamon 1/2 cup margarine 1 cup brown sugar 1/2 cup chopped walnuts Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease tube/bundt pan. Cut biscuits into 1 inch pieces. Mix white sugar and cinnamon in plastic bag. Shake 6-8 pieces in the mix. Arrange pieces in the bottom of the pan. Continue until all biscuits are coated and placed in pan. Arrange nuts among the pieces as you go along. In a small saucepan, melt the margarine with the brown sugar over medium heat. Boil 1 minute - pour over biscuits. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Let bread cool for 10 minutes, then turn out onto a plate. Do not cut - bread just pulls apart.

35: Cinnamon Rolls Dissolve1 pkg. plus 1 tsp. yeast 1/3 cup warm water 1 tsp. sugar set aside and let rise Beat well: 1 egg 1/2 cup oil 1/2 cup white sugar 2 tsp. salt beating all the time Add: 2 cups hot water - beating 2 cups flour and beat Add Yeast mixture - beat 2 cups flour - beat Turn out on floured board and knead in 2 cups flour (or more). Dough should form a soft form, add small amount of flour at a time if needed. Cover and let rise until doubled. Divide dough. Roll dough out in oblong shape. Melt one stick oleo and place on dough. Mix together and spread over butter: 2/3 cups white sugar 2/3 cup brown sugar 3 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. vanilla Roll dough up lengthwise. Cut in 1 1/4" pieces and place on greased pan. Let rise 30-45 minutes. Bake in 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Do not overbake. Ice warm rolls with powered sugar icing.

36: Blackberry Cobbler 4 cups fresh blackberries 1 cup sugar 1 1/2 tbsp. cornstarch 1/2 cup water 1 tsp. cinnamon. Mix and pour into homemade crust. Top with crust. Bake at 400 degrees for 50 minutes.

37: Pecan Pie | 1 cup Karo syrup, light or dark 3 eggs 1 cup sugar 2 tbsp. butter, melted 1 tsp. vanilla 1 cup pecans 1 unbaked 9" pie crust Stir the first 5 ingredients using a spoon. Mix in pecans, pour into crust. Bake in 350 degree oven for 55 minutes.

38: Heading to a Luau! | MAUI - JANUARY 2010

39: Hawaiian Wedding Cake 1 yellow cake mix 1 large vanilla instant pudding 8 oz. cream cheese 2 cups milk 1 can crushed pineapple 1 cup coconut small container of cool whip 1 cup chopped pecans 1 cup sugar Bake cake as directed. Cool cake. Drain pineapple, add 1 cup of sugar, heat until hot, pour over cake. Mix in large bowl, pudding, milk, cream cheese. Pour mixture over cake. Add cool whip, coconut and nuts on top.

40: Susan's Grandma Haslag's Sugar Cookies | Audrey rolling out Valentine sugar cookies

41: 1 1 lb. margarine 3 cups sugar 3 eggs 6 tbsp. milk 1 tbsp. vanilla flavoring Mix the above ingredients with a mixer. 6 cups flour 1 1/2 tbsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tbsp. baking soda 1 1/2 tbsp. salt Mix the above dry ingredients together in separate bowl. Then combine with the other mixture and beat well. Refrigerate overnight. Cover countertop with flour. Use the flour to knead the dough. Roll out on countertop and cut into shapes.

42: Name | Coconut Cream Pie | Filling: 1 cup sugar 2 heaping tbsp. cornstarch 2 cups milk 1 tsp. vanilla extract 2 egg yolks, beaten until light 1/2 can Bakers angel flake coconut Mix all of the above, except coconut, in a sauce pan. Heat stirring constantly until thickens. Add coconut. Pour into pie shell. Meringue Topping 2 egg whites 1/4 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract Blend with mixer until peaks form. Spread over pie, sprinkle with coconut - bake for 15 minutes in 350 oven.

43: Mom's Bread Pudding | Crumble 8-10 pieces of bread Add 1/2 cup brown sugar 1 cup milk 1 egg 1 tsp. cinnamon Bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes Sauce: Mix 1 cup sugar and 2 heaping tbsp. flour Add 2 cups milk, 1 tbsp. butter and tsp. vanilla. Cook to boil to thicken.

44: Smores Dessert Top with: 1 c. butterscotch chips 1 c. chocolate chips 1 c. mini marshmallows 1 sm. can sweetened condensed milk poured over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes or until bubbly. You'll always come back for s'more! | 1 c. melted butter 4 c. crushed graham crackers (2 pkgs.) Combine the butter and graham crackers for the crust.

46: Heath Bar Cake | 1 Box Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cake Mix 1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 small container of Cool Whip 2 Heath Candy Bars Bake according to instructions. Let cool slightly. Poke holes in cake. Pour sweetened condensed milk over the entire cake. Refrigerate to cool. Before serving spread cool whip over cake and top with chopped pieces of heath candy bars.

49: This & That | Funnel Cakes 1 egg 2/3 cup milk 2 tbsp. sugar 1 1/4 cup flour 1/4 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking powder In a deep skillet, heat 2 cups of oil over medium-high heat until hot. Test the temp. by dropping pinch of flour in oil. If it sizzles right away, it's ready. Beat egg and milk. Add all other ingredients in a separate bowl and slowly add to the egg mixture beating until smooth. Using a funnel, drop into hot oil working from center outwards. Cook 2-3 minutes until golden brown & crispy. Sprinkle with powdered sugar.

50: "Thanksgiving Day will soon be here It comes around but once a year If I could only have my way, We'd have Thanksgiving every day."

51: Dad's Famous Turkey Dressing | 1-2 loaves of bread broken into cubes, 1 can chicken or turkey broth Add sage, chopped onions and celery, and salt and pepper to taste Mix, pour in sprayed pan, bake at 350 for 20-30 minutes

52: Who needs Santa when you have Grammy!

53: Mom's Carmel Popcorn 8 quart popcorn, popped 2 cups brown sugar 1/2 cup corn syrup 1 tsp. baking soda Combine brown sugar, margarine and corn syrup. Cook to softball stage. Take off heat - add baking soda and stir. Pour over popcorn and stir. Place coated popcorn in greased baking pan. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes. Grandma Schnieders Popcorn 1 1/2 gallons popped popcorn 16 large marshmallows dash of salt 1/2 stick butter 14/ cup brown sugar Combine butter, marshmallows, brown sugar and salt. Cook over low heat stirring constantly until all is dissolved and bubbling. Pour mixture over popper popcorn. Stir until evenly coated.

54: Grandma Schnieders' Pancakes 1 egg, beaten 1 cup milk 1 cup flour 2 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. baking soda Mix - add more milk if too thick. Fry in hot skillet with small amount of grease.

56: Summertime!

57: Homemade Ice Cream 2 1/2 cups sugar 2 cans Milnot 6 or 9 eggs 2 1/2 tbsp. vanilla pinch of salt 6 junket tablets placed in hot water 1 tsp. vanilla Mix and put in freezer - add enough milk to fill freezer. Surround freezer with rock salt. OR you can buy the pre-mixed gallon at Central Dairy.
