4: Matthias Schleiden (1838)- This scientist concluded that all plants are made of cells. He dealt with cell formation, and plants.
5: Theodor Schwann (1839)- He concluded that all animals are made of cells. He also discovered the digestive enzyme, pepsin in 1836.
6: Rudolf Virchow (1855)- He concluded that all cells came from pre-existing cells. In 1859, he made a book called Cell Pathology that became the foundation for all microscopic study of disease.
7: Robert Hooke (1665)- When looking at a piece of cork under a microscope, he discovered cells. He then named a cell a cell.
8: Three Principles of Cell Theory! | 1. All organisms consists of one or more cells. 2. The cell is the basic unit of structure for all organisms. 3. All cells arise from pre-existing cells.
10: Prokaryotic Cells VS. | Prokaryotic cells lack a membrane-bound nucleus and instead of having chromosomal DNA, their genetic information is in a circular loop called plasmid.
11: Eukaryotic Cells | Eukaryotic cells have a membrane-bound nucleus, and membrane-bound structures called organelles.
