Articles of Confederation By Donovan Ricketts

The Articles of Confederation were proposed during the 2nd continental congress. The formal ratification by all 13 states was completed in early 1781.

The Articles of Confederation were used, however poorly effective, until the constitution was developed. they were our basic unstructured idea of how a government should be, as opposed to the monarchy of Great Britain.

The Articles of Confederation were in force from March 1, 1781, until March 4, 1789, when the present Constitution went into effect.

The War for Independence had been won, but economic depression, social unrest, and interstate rivalries proved the articles in need of revision. In early 1787, Congress called for a special convention of all the states to revise the Articles of Confederation.

the articles will always have a lasting affect on our nation. if it wasn't for the articles, we may not even be our own nation. it helped us organize our beliefs and ideas, and provided a type of trial and error government. we learn from our flaws in the articles and built a rock solid constitution and nation.

the articles developed our first ideas of separation of power between states, and federal government. | the articles of confederation were the makings of a young nation facing the overpowering rule of a centuries old world power. we came together to achieve independence.
