2: The Articles of Confederation were proposed during the 2nd continental congress. The formal ratification by all 13 states was completed in early 1781.
3: The Articles of Confederation were used, however poorly effective, until the constitution was developed. they were our basic unstructured idea of how a government should be, as opposed to the monarchy of Great Britain.
4: The Articles of Confederation were in force from March 1, 1781, until March 4, 1789, when the present Constitution went into effect.
5: The War for Independence had been won, but economic depression, social unrest, and interstate rivalries proved the articles in need of revision. In early 1787, Congress called for a special convention of all the states to revise the Articles of Confederation.
6: the articles will always have a lasting affect on our nation. if it wasn't for the articles, we may not even be our own nation. it helped us organize our beliefs and ideas, and provided a type of trial and error government. we learn from our flaws in the articles and built a rock solid constitution and nation.
7: the articles developed our first ideas of separation of power between states, and federal government. | the articles of confederation were the makings of a young nation facing the overpowering rule of a centuries old world power. we came together to achieve independence.
