FC: Type Of Cells | By: Roheana Sahibzadah and Kristen Saunders

Cell Theory 1. All living things are made up of cells. 2. Cells are basic units of structure and function in living things. 3. Living cells come only from other living cells. | Matthias Schleiden and Theodor Schwann first stated that theory.

Cell membrane It is also named the plasma membrane. It is a very thin membrane, composed of lipids and protein, that surrounds the cytoplasm of a cell and controls the passage of substances into and out of the cell .

Prokaryotic cell It is any cellular organism that has no nuclear membrane, no organelles in the cytoplasm except ribosomes, and has its genetic material in the form of single continuous strands forming coils or loops, characteristic of all organisms in the kingdom Monera, as the bacteria and blue-green algae. | Eukaryotic cell It is any organism having as its fundamental structural unit a cell type that contains specialized organelles in the cytoplasm, a membrane-bound nucleus enclosing genetic material organized into chromosomes, and an elaborate system of division by mitosis or meiosis, characteristic of all life forms except bacteria

Animal cells Animal cells do not have a cell wall. They don't have chloroplasts. Animal cells are round. | Plant cells It is the cell that is a structural and functional unit of a plant. Plant cells make their own food. Lysosomes are usually not evident in plant cells. Plant cells are rectangular. Plastids are in plant cells.

Ten Cell Structures | 1. Cells are one of the basic units of life. 2. There are many different cells. 3. Cells are one of the smallest units of life in our bodies. 4. Cells have "skin" called the plasma membrane, 5. Lysosomes are very important in the life of a cell. 6. each different type of cell in the human body does different things. 7. They come in different sizes. 8. Plant cells have larger vacoules than animal cells. 9. Prokaryotes are the first cells to evolve the earth around 4.5 billion years ago. 10. There are about 75 to 100 trillion cells in the human body.

Homeostasis It is the tendency of a system, especially the physiological system of higher animals, to maintain internal stability, owing to the coordinated response of its parts to any situation or stimulus that would tend to disturb its normal condition or function.

 Unbalanced

Rudolf Virchow In 1855 he stated that "All living cells arise from pre-existing cell." This statement is known as the "Biogenic law".His major contribution was the idea that pathologic reactions were reactions of cells.

Robert Hooke In 1635-1703 Robert looked at a cork through a compound microscope and observed tiny room-like structures that reminded him of the "cells" that monks lived in. Therefore these structures became known as cells. The cork cells where not alive so he only saw the cell wall. He stated that "These pores or cells, were not very deep, but consisted of a great many little boxes, separated out of one continued long pore, by certain diaphragms."

Theodor Schwann Schwann was a German Biologist who viewed animal parts under a microscope and discovered that animals were made up of cells. He extended Schleiden's cell theory in plants to animals, stating that all living things are composed of cells.

Matthias Schleiden Schleiden was German Botanist the viewed plant parts under a microscope and discovered that plant parts are made of cells. He is considered to be the co-founder of cell theory together with Schwann, with whom he consulted.
