1: Cell Theory-Three principles | Cell theory... 1.All organisms are composed of one or more cells 2.The cell=the basic unit of life 3.New Cells arise from cells that already exists | The men who contributed to the cell theory were Robert Hooke, Matthias Schleiden, Theodor Schwann, and Rudolph Virchow.
2: Robert Hooke In 1665, he used the microscope and found cells in a piece of cork. After that, he was credited for the first one to discover cells.
3: Rudolph Virchow In 1855, he added all living cells come from pre-existing cells. It became known as the "Biogenic Law." He said pathologic reactions occurred because it was the reaction of cells.
4: Matthias Schleiden In 1838, he discovered plant parts were made up of cells using a microscope to view it. At the time, he was working with Theodor Schwann.
5: Theodor Schwann In 1839, he viewed animal parts using a microscope and declared animals are made up of cells. He extended Schleiden's theory by stating all living organisms are composed of cells.
6: Prokaryotic | -No Nucleus and no cytoplasm -uncelluar like.
7: Eukaryotic | -Bigger than Prokaryotic -contains nucleus -more chromosomes Contains most organelles found in a human cell. -nucleus | Examples would be animal and plant cells.
8: Plant Cells | -cell wall -cytoplasm -square -large central vacuole | structural,also similar to animal cell
9: Animal Cells | -round -lysosome -Centriole | enclosed by a plasma membrane,bound nucleus and organelle,
10: The golgi apparatus is a flat sac that packages and distributes proteins throughout the cell. Inside the golgi apparatus, the enzymes modify the proteins, then puts them in a sac and moves them around the cell. | The lysosome is a small, round organelle that digests the cell's waste and recycles it. They transport materials to the cell membrane if it isn't digested.
11: Ribosomes are found in the cytoplasm and rough endoplasmic reticulum. They make proteins, and it gets transported across the cell. | The cell wall are found only in plant cells and other prokaryotic cells. They surround the cell membrane,and they give extra support and structure for the plant cell.
12: Centrioles are only found in animal cells, and they are packed together to make a tube. They are involved in moving chromosomes when two cells split up. | Chloroplasts are only found in plant cells, and they only have 2 membranes, the inner and outer membrane. They use the light energy to make food by using a process called photosynthesis. | The mitochondria is a sac with its inner membrane folded. It takes food and break it down into energy called ATP for the cell.
13: Cytoskeleton is consisted of microtubules, actin filaments, and intermediate fibers. They maintain the cell's shape. They also support movement within cell organelles. | The endoplasmic reticulum is located next to the nucleus, and it makes proteins and serves as the cell's transport system. There are two types of endoplasmic reticulum, rough and smooth. The rough has ribosomes while the smooth doesn't. | The vacuoles are found in plant and animal cells, and what they do is they store water and other substances including ions, nutrients, and wastes. This allows plants to stand upright.
14: Cell Membrane | A cell organelle that separates the cells from the outside environment around it.
15: Homeostasis | Reaching stability within your internal body. | An example would be fever
