The first civilizations were formed in the river valleys. Nomads looked far and wide for food. Now with farming people could stay together. Families grew along the Nile River. Civilizations such as in Mesopotamia and the Nile River Valley Civilization. | Ancient River Civilizations

What if? | If the people didn't learn how to farm then we wouldn't have as much food as we do now, food would be more conserved and there would be less vegetables and overall health would be horrible, and we would have to hunt for food and we would always be on the move and never would be able to build houses and buildings

Classical Era | The Ancient Greek and Roman empires really changed Europe. People had gone from being farmers to forming massive empires. These empires conquered other lands and brought their culture to new lands. From Romans we got colliseums and olympics.

What if? | If Rome didn't fail there would have been a totally different Europe and they would have grown stronger than stronger as a major power.

Asia/Africa | In Africa the Bantu people migrated from place to place. During this time the Muslim faith began and grew in popularity. In Asia the Mongol people took over the Silk Road. The Silk Road was a trade route through Asia. The Mongols controlled this land for some time and it allowed them to grow in power.

What if? | If the mongals didn't open up the silk road then trade routes would have changed drastically. Sea trade would have probably substituted for the silk roads. regions would have been less diverse and cultures wouldn't have been mixing and adapting.

Medieval Europe | During this time The Crusades were going on throughout Europe. The Crusades were a religious movement that forced people to take up Christianity. The Black Plague also began to spread during this time. Also known as the bubonic plague it hurt many people throughout Europe.

What if? | If the black plague didn’t attack Europe then, Europe’s economy would have progressed; the plague stopped the progesstion and achevments of Europe. Arts and music would have been more bright and happy instead of dark and miserable. 25 million people would be alive and well.

The driving out of Moslems , the fall of Byzantine Empire, and the Crusades helped kick start the Renaissance period. During this time peoples ideas about life grew and changed. Great minds like Leonardo Davinci thrived during this time period. People focused on how they had power to create and do things. Inventions such as the telescope, printing press, and even the traditional toilet were created during this time period. | Renaissance

If Gutenberg hadn’t made the printing press, news would have spread slower than usually, some people would be more behind than some people, if there was urgent news some people wouldn’t know. Books wouldn’t even be written or published for others. Everything that has to do with media and news would be different today. | What if?

Prior to the French Revolution people believed that an age of enlightenment was following them. It was believed that they were coming out of a very dark time. Sir Isaac Newton discovered gravity. People firmly put their power of human reason an idea that was previously expressed in the Renaissance. It’s believed that the writers and flow of enlightenment ideas ended when the French Revolution began. | Enlightenment

If the enlightened ideas were not embraced America, would have changed drastically and our rights would have been different. Rights such as popular sovereignty, natural rights, bill of rights and federalism. | What if?

World War One began with the death of Franz Ferdinand. World War One was fought between Germany and France on two fronts, the Eastern front and Western front. Most of World War One was fought in trenches and many died. Woodrow Wilson was president during this time he suggested the League of Nations and his Fourteen Points. | World War One

If Germany didn’t get blamed they would have spread the cost across the axis powers, and they all would have been blamed for the war. All military would have been decreased and split. And they would have come up with better compromise and there would have been a difference in the League of Nations. | What if?

World War Two | World War Two began with the Nazi party's conquest to reclaim lands lost during World War One. During this time two forces emerged. These powers were known as the Allied (Good) and Axis (Evil) powers. The United States got involved with the Allied powers after the bombing of Pearl Harbor in Hawaii.

If the U.S. didn't drop the atomic bomb on the Japanese, then no other major powers in the world would not have developed the same nuclear bombs we use today. | What if?

Cold War | The Cold War was a battle between the U.S. and the Soviet Union. The Cold War was a battle of Imperialism with the Soviets being for Communism (Oppressive Government) and the Americans being for Capitalism (Expressive Government).
