Clothing With hot summers and mild winters the Egyptians wanted light clothing. They made clothing from plant fibers, linen, and in Roman times they would occasionally use cotton, an import from India. Wool was used to a lesser extent. Small amounts of silk were traded to the Eastern Mediterranean possibly as early as the second half of the second millennium CE and traces of silk have been found in Egyptian tombs.

Hunting | The ancient Egyptians used a vast selection of weapons. They used spears, arrows, nets, throwing sticks, and a boomerang like weapon. They also used animals to hunt other animals. Greyhounds would chase a raccon up a tree and then the Egyptians could shoot it while it is in the tree. Queen Hatshepsut kept animals such as baboons, giraffes, cheetahs, and exotic birds imported from the land of punt. This is why we see animals unknown to the environment in cave paintings.

Inventions | The Egyptians have invented many useful tools that we still use today including makeup, paper, the plow, medicine, the shadoof, and the lock.

Inventions Paper | Paper, used by everyone and everyday. The Egyptians sliced a plant called the papyrus into thin pieces, then they soaked the pieces in water to get the sugar out. Then they would beat the slices to get the water out. After the thin slices dried, they stitched them together forming paper. The English word "paper" comes from the plant papyrus.

Inventions The Plow | An invention that changed the revoultion of farming was the ox driven plow. This changed the way of farming throughout history. This was a great idea because the oxen were very strong. All they did was tie the ropes to the oxen's horns and go. | Inventions The plow

Inventions the Shadoof | The shadoof was a very important invention. It was used to lift water from the Nile river onto dry lands. The shadoof was a pole that had a bucket on one end and a weight on the other end . They would lower the bucket into the water and when it got full ,they would lift the weight to get the water on dry land.
