Date March 4, 1898 Dear Journal, My patents have been talking about moving to America for about 2 years and finally the time has come. | Me | George Greenhalgh... (my dad)

My Papa said I was only allowed to bring one suit case and even that was every small. The most I brought was cloths and 2 pairs of shoes. One very special thing I brought was my stuff pink elephant, I was also 5 at the time. | My mom's shoes

The day we left Germany it was a bright and sunny day. I was excited but scared to go on the first ship ride of my life maybe my last. | Bye Germany, Hello America

On the long hard ship ride I met to young girls about my age one named Nicole and the other Monika. We had lots of fun together playing with our dolls. One person got so tired of the boat he jumped off the side of the boat. | Monika Me Nicole

Date March 20, 1898 Dear Journal, Day 16 on the ride to America, But this day is different. I wake to the sound of cheering on the deck. My Mama tells me to follow her on to the deck. When I reach the deck I smell a strange smell like I have never smelled before. In the distance I see the Statue Of Liberty. It brings treas to my patent's eyes. I quite didn't know what is happening. When we tuck our first steps on America it didn't feel different to German soil. My first American meal was a hot dog. It was very tasty. But why do they call it a hot dog if ti is not a dog?

 First site of America!!

Thank goodness, they let me in but gave me some antibiotics to help the cut heel. | My medicine

 Mental Test | Eye Test

Date March 21, 1898 Dear Journal, We had to take lots of test such as a writing test, a eye test, and a reading test. The test I was the most scared of was the medical exam. They said I had a cut that was infected. I prayed that I could go through like my parents.

We walked out to the gates to freedom. We had to take one more boat to the “real” America. When we got off the faerie the first thing we did is take of family photo on American soil to remember our long dangerous trip.
