S: Economic Incentives Encouraging Colonization


FC: Group: Lauren H. | Why did the Europeans colonize the Native Americans?

1: I hope you enjoy this scrapbook and that it helps you to understand the incentives behind the European's colonizing the Native Americans

2: 1.) Trade They realized that North America was more profitable and they wanted to trade with the Indians.

5: 2.) Land Europe was overcrowded, so the Europeans came to take the land away from the Native Americans. Also, they started grow food and tobacco and send them back to Europe to make more money. As the colonies became more successful they sent in blacksmiths and cotton growers, which meant they needed more land.

7: 3.) Religious Freedom They also came to in order to gain religious rights. They believed in "Divine Right" and wanted to be able to practice whatever religion that wanted.

8: In the end as much as the Native Americans tried to resist the colonization of the Europeans they didn't stand a chance against their firearms.
