S: Heroes in Science

BC: Bye and thanks for watching! Any questions or comments?

FC: Heroes in Science | "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."

2: ^^^ Thomas Edison | My mini inquiry is on Heroes in science. The scientists I learnt about are: -Nikola Tesla -Thomas Edison -Marie Curie and -Albert Einstein. My questions were: 1. Where did they go to school? What did they study? 3. Did they work with anyone? 4. When were they around? 5. Did they win any Nobel Prizes? 6. How does there work impact us today?

3: Left to right - Top row Nikola Tesla, Thomas Edison | Left to right - bottom row Marie Curie, Albert Einstein

4: 1. In his early years, he attended Higher Real Gymnasium in Karlovac. He finished a four year term in the span of 3 years. When he was older he attended the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz. Years later, his father persuaded him to attend Charles-Ferdinand University in Prague. After his father died, he left the university after completing one term. 2. He studied electrical engineering at the Austrian Polytechnic in Graz. 3. No, but he did become rivals with Thomas Edison in the late 1880's. 4.Nikola was born 10-7-1856 and he died 7-1-1943 aged 86

5: Nikola Tesla | 5. No, but Edison and Tesla were mentioned to share the Nobel Prize of 1915, but neither did. 6. He is the father of commercial electricity and is best known for his many original developments in the field of electromagnetism in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

6: 1. In his early years he was home schooled and got most of his education from reading R.G. Parker's 'School of Natural Philosophy' and 'The Cooper Union'. 2. I don't know, but her did invent many things. 3. No but became rivals with Nikola Tesla in the late 1880's. 4. Edison was born 11-2-1847 and he died 18-10-1931 aged 84. 5. No, but him and Tesla were mentioned to win the 1915 Nobel Prize, like I said before.

7: ThomasEdison | 6. He invented the phonograph, the motion picture camera and the long lasting-practical light-bulb.

8: 1. In 1891 she followed her older sister to study in Paris, where she obtained her higher degrees and did some further research on her scientific work. She was the first female professor at the University of Paris. 2. Curie studied Physics and chemistry. She was also a pioneer in the field of radioactivity. 3. No, but she shared her Nobel Prize in Physics with her husband and her Nobel Prize in chemistry with her daughter and son in law. 4. Curie was born 7-11-1867 and she died 4-7-1934. 5. Yes. She won 2 Nobel Prizes as I said before. She was also the first person honored with 2 Nobel prizes in Physics and Chemistry.

9: Marie Curie | 6. She discovered 2 new elements for the Periodic table. They are Polonium and Radium. She also created the theory of radioactivity.

10: 1. He attended a Catholic Elementary school from the age of 5 to 10. The family sent Albert to Aarau, in northern Switzerland to finish secondary school. 2. In 1896 he enrolled in the 4 year maths and physics teaching diploma program at the Polytechnic in Zurich. 3. Not that I can find. 4. Albert was born 14-3-1879 and he died 18-4-1955 aged 76. 5. In 1922, Einstein was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Physics. 6. Einstein published over 300 scientific and over 150 non-scientific works.

11: Albert Einstein
