America Realizes that they are going to a race to the moon. On May 25, 1961 John F. Kennedy gave a public announcement, that they should land on the moon before the decade is out. | blog.chron.com

1: Who believed that one man had the courage to end discrimination. Martin Luther King Jr. demanded racial equality and spoke in which he believed for. This man himself has changed history. Who knows what the day today will be like without him. | Martin Luther King Jr. only took 17 minutes to have his message heard. 2: On April 12, 1961 history has been made all over the world. Yuri Gagarin was the first person to enter space, and also the first to orbit Earth. How did this man achieve to where he is at? He worked hard in school. Even though he had a terrible living conditions. The Nazis took his family apart, and removed them from there own home. | Yuri Gagarin was a great student in mathematics and physics. 3: Marilyn Monroe was an American Actress, singer, and a model. Some could ask, What the heck is she not? What people don't know is, how hard it was for her to be in the position she is in right now. As a child, she was passed around from family members to family friends. To avoid the orphanage Marilyn Monroe got married at the age of 16. 4: On May 24, 1917 our 35th president was born. John F. Kennedy was the second youngest president to be elected(after Theodore Roosevelt), also the first boyscout to be president, and he was the first first Catholic President. John F. Kennedy also served for the U. S. Marine. | His assassination occurred on November 22, 1963. The murderer was caught and killed after two days in prison. | connect.in.com

5: Super Bowl I. Occurred on the date of January 15, 1967. The two teams that played that day were, The Kansas City Chiefs and the Green Bay Packers. Guess who won? Nope not the chiefs. 7: The three designers for the bullet train were engineers in the WWII. The average speed of a bullet train is 137 miles per hour. In 1964, the opening of the bullet train reached 100 million passengers less than 3 years. They reached 1 billion in 1976. 8: In the 1960's the first optical laser was invented. This has led to many other lasers today. Laser is a Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. | Lasers back then was just a beam of light. Now a days we use it in concerts, laser tag, and the army puts a laser sight on their gun to make it more accurate. Today lasers has a bigger megawatts. 9: Sesame Street is arguably, the most important children's program in the history of television. This show is for kids of all young ages. Sesame Street would teach you to count from 1 to 20 and your A B Cs. Since 2009 Sesame street has won 9 Grammy Awards, and 119 Emmy Awards.
