1: DCS DCS class, is a class that teaches students the fundamentals of a computer.
2: First week the first week of DCS was pretty boring. we couldn't really do anything, because of people not turning in their permission slips to get on the computer.
3: Chapter 2: What have we learned
4: Hardware Hardware is the physical parts of the computer, the parts that you cab touch. ex.mouse, modem, speakers.
5: Software software is located in the computers and you can not touch them. ex.programs, R.OM, R.AM.
6: CHAPTER 3 Memory
8: R.O.M Stands for "read only memory".Computer memory in which data has been prerecorded.Once data has been entered into R.O.M, it can't be removed,only read.
9: R.A.M stands for "random access memory". it is data which can be accessed randomly, that is any bytes of memory can be accessed without touching the preceding bytes.

14: Worm a worm virus follows a trial of deleted files, it can stay on for a long time.

16: Trojan Horse looks like an gift, but when uploaded or downloaded it turns into a virus destroying files

21: 2 types of speech recognition systems.
22: Discrete | Discrete Discrete systems require the user to temporarily pause between words. | continuous continuous speech recognition systems allow the user to speak continuously between words

24: What is it microtype is a learning system that teaches you how to type.
25: Warm-Up We usually have to do a microtype skill analysis for a warm-up at the beginning of class.

27: What is it All about me is a power point presentation that everybody in my class had to make an power point about themselves.

29: Digital camcorders I had to do a power point presentation on digital camcorders describing different parts and components of it.

33: Victim Phrases It's not my job I didn't because that is too much work that is unfair
35: Every week or so we would have to type a blog entry into Mrs.Mcmhahan's blog site, which had to be at least 250 words a blog entry.
37: Accountability is the obligation or willingness to accept responsibility, to account for one's actions
39: This week in DCS, we studied on how to write letters. there are 2 kind of letters Business letter Personal letter
40: Business Letter Business letters is a letter mailed to a business or company. They are blocked style paragraphs, which mean they are not indented and left aligned.
41: Personal Business letter personal business letters are letters that is mailed to someone in your business, like your boss or your supervisor.
42: Personal letters personal letters are letters that is mailed to a family member or friend.
43: Dear Everybody in the class had to type a letter to their favorite teachers, describing why they were chose as a favorite and why are they receiving a letter.
45: There are two types of reports. Unbound reports and Bound reports
46: Unbound report These are typically prepared without binders or folders.
47: Bound Reports This type of report is typically longer with a bound with covers or binders
48: Margins Top margin= 2" Side Margin= 1" Other pages= 1" Bottom= 1, avoid orphans and widows
50: Outlines Outlines are a type of enumeration that organizes data.
51: formatting outlines top margin=2 vertically centered, all others are same as the report. Main and side heading or entries are used to organize data in an outline,

53: Table of contents Table of contents is an outline of the side and paragraph headings in a report
54: Formatting Table of Contents Margins are the same as for the report( using a 2" top margin). Center the headings in ALL CAPS. Each entry should be keyed in initial caps.
56: Bibliography Bibliography is an listing of the material used in a report.
57: Formatting Bibliography Margins same as the report. Include a pg. number Center the title in ALL CAPS

59: Works Cited works cited is an listing of only those works that were cited in the report.
60: Follow the same formatting as that of the bibliography
61: Footnotes and Endnotes
62: Footnotes Footnotes is a complete documentation of reference. is placed at the bottom of the same page.
63: Endnotes Endnotes is a complete documentation of a reference, however it appears on a separate page on the end of an report.
64: Textual Citations
65: Textual Citations Textual citations are typically typed in parenthesis immediately following the quoted material. Includes the name of the author, title of the source, year, and pg. number.
66: Assignments We recently had to write a report. We also had to do an outline, and a bibliography.
67: Assignments continued Before we had to do the report we had to make two tables of data. one was about something we talked about in another class, the other one was our choice to make.

70: This week also it seems as we have our hands full, I am saying that because you gave us a multiple page handout of spreadsheets we have to fill in and answer questions on.

72: Dictionary Definition A database is an application that manages data and allows fast storage and retrieval of that data.
73: Other notes There are many types of data but the most popular are the relational database that stores data in tables where each row of the table holds the same info.
74: Activities we did We did a fake purchase order in class, that i really did not like, or get it, but we were acting like we are ordering m&m's from an m&m factory.
75: Database Activities Now, we are pretending that we are making a database for a rental company. This activity doesn't seem to be helping me understand more of databases than what I knew before. I think it would be better if we just took notes on what a database really is.
79: This week is review week, which is really just preparing us for the exams. We have some online quizzes we can take to help us study and pass the exams.
81: I started back working of microtype, and now we have to paste our microtype chart.
82: This chart shows the growth in my typing since the beginning of the school year.
83: Ending Statements well my DCS class this year was okay. The good I thought about this class was it's independence. you know, do work whenever and however you would like. The bads I thought of this class were, there was times we did not have work but couldn't browse the web, and I thought when we had our class conversations of things, they were pretty lame.
