BC: On a car trip, an old couple stopped at restaurant for lunch. When they left, and traveled a couple of miles, the old woman said that she unfortunately left her glasses on the table. The old complained all the way back to the restaurant, telling his wife to be more responsible about her belongings. When they finally arrived, as the old woman got out of the car to retrieve her glasses, the old man said, "While you're in there, you may as well get my hat, too." Be Responsible

 Responsibility Here I Comes

Responsibility is the social force that binds an individual to be held accountable of certain actions and deeds. It is the moral obligation by which one is held answerable to an higher authority such as society. In other words, responsibility refers to fulfilling one`s duty towards society or any other authority in a responsible or allowable way. It requires a the trait of being answerable to someone for something or being responsible for one's conduct.

What types of traits do we require to be responsible ? First of all, We should determine what types of task or duty is deemed to be fulfilled. Secondly, We will then seek out what our selected task or duty entails, so that we can take necessary action to complete that task or duty fully, by the best of our ability and in a timely appropriate fashion.

For example, You are in fifth grade and what is supposed to be your biggest responsibility ? In my view, your biggest responsibility is to obey whatever your parents, teachers or any other higher authority requires you to obey. To fulfill such responsibility, you have to complete your homework according to your teacher, behave in a proper way as your parents require, and never do anything against society.

 1. Setting Expectations: We should set appropriate expectations that help us to succeed in our life. Meeting these expectations would not only make us successful but also allow us to be responsible. It is the very first step in learning how we can take care of the responsibilities in our lives. Come up with easy expectations for your child that you know they can handle. Then let your child know what those expectations are. Hold them responsible for meeting those expectations. | Requirements for Responsibilities:

 2. The Battle of the Chores: If we are unable to achieve our expectations, we are unable to fulfill our responsibility at all. Therefore, we should give up our other privileges, in order to meet our responsibilities. After all, It is the way the life works. It is important that we are able to learn these lessons while we are in teen years instead of learning the hard way as in adulthood. So, therefore, we should not lose this fight over chores, and fulfill our expectations as excepted from us .

Responsibilities and Chores to Give Your Teen: We should be responsible for our daily habits as, for example, Cleaning our room and Making our own bed. In addition to these chores, we should be also responsible for household duties as Keeping the rooms vacuumed, Washing dishes, Loading or Unloading the Dishwasher, Sweeping the floor, Keeping the bathroom cleaned, Marinating the Lawn and whatever our parents needed help in. It will definitely help to clean the house and learn being responsible, as well.

Part of growing up and being responsible is to teach ourselves to learn to make our own decisions. It can help to create a sense of purpose to those chores that can give the feeling of growing up and really creates responsibility in our mind. Moreover, Since we always get rewards, either by our parents or in form of success, we should always try to be responsible.

"We are made wise not by the recollection of our past, but by the responsibility for our future." George Bernard Shaw "Accept responsibility for your life. Know that it is you who will get you where you want to go, no one else. Les Brown ." Bill Maher | "You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." Abraham Lincoln

"Most people do not really want freedom, because freedom involves responsibility, and most people are frightened of responsibility." Sigmund Freud | "The willingness to accept responsibility for one's own life is the source from which self-respect springs." Joan Didion

"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today." Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln, 16th President of United States, wrote this quote in response to Civil War. He justified Civil War as war or responsibility ,to preserve the Union, which either now or latter was supposed to happen in America.. We cannot evade or postpone our responsibility. What most of the people tend to seek is that they can be free from any restrictions that responsibility imposes on them. It matters whether you are responsible or not. Responsibility is not like work that can be postponed and finished later with greater hard-work. Once one misses the opportunity to fulfill the responsibilities, it can result in his/her failure. Doing our responsibilities in alloted time can earn us rewards, recognition, a sense of entitlement, satisfy our growing need for independence, promote self-direction, and make us succeed in school, in their careers, and in social relationships. Responsibility can be only effective if we accept it at the very moment it is presented to us. Likewise, Lincoln believed that the Civil War was a responsibility, and the victory in it would only be evidence for fulfilling this responsibility . He never postponed this responsibility of war to succeeding Presidents, and accepted it at the very moment when presented to him.

"Lincoln demonstrated an ability to withstand adversity and to move forward in the face of frustration" said Kearns Goodwin, a speaker at SHRM's 2008 Annual Conference in Chicago. It depicts that Lincoln knows the tough responsibilities of being a President and moreover, he accepted them without any complain, postponing for his successors or blaming on others. Lincoln once quoted,"Every man over forty is responsible for his face." It implicitly means that the reputation of an individual depends upon the responsibilities fulfilled by that individual in his/her life. He accepted the responsibility of preserving Union through Civil War as he quotes, "My paramount object in this struggle is to save the Union, and is not either to save or to destroy slavery. If I could save the Union without freeing any slave I would do it, and if I could save it by freeing all the slaves I would do it; and if I could save it by freeing some and leaving others alone I would also do that." Lincoln regretted his father's illiteracy, never liked to do the hard labor associated with frontier life. Nevertheless, he willingly took responsibility for all chores expected of him as a male in the household, and even agreeing with the customary obligation of a son to give his father all earnings from work until age 21. But the main responsibility that Lincoln felt towards his country to emancipate all the slaves held in America at that time. To fulfill this responsibility, he even protested against slavery, saying,"the institution of slavery is founded on both injustice and bad policy." What is more important that he lead victory of U.S. against confederates and at last, freed all slaves held in bondage that is fulfilled his responsibility towards his nation. He even sacrificed his own life for accomplishing this goal.

In Bible there is a story about The Great Flood and Noah`s Ark that reflects the responsibility of Noah to build an ark. When God said to Noah, “The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth, Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood...," he was given the responsibility to construct an ark as well as to collect a couple of every living creature on the earth. When he finished his job, he and other creatures escaped the Great Flood. What does it tells about responsibility? Noah was held accountable or responsible for obeying the command of God, and when he did so; he fulfilled his responsibility towards his God and ultimately was saved from destruction. Therefore, Be Responsible. Likewise, a couple of year ago; Elizabeth Reiko Kubota Whitney established a $750,000 endowment that will fund the School's first four-year scholarship for a theater undergraduate student, covering fees, room and board and other expenses – costs that can add up to almost $30,000 per year. What Responsibility she has demonstrated by performing this act? She is Socially Responsible: creating an entity or an organization that will act in welfare of society. It is because of her commitment to fulfill her responsibility, that now she receives such appreciation and acceptance in community.

Barack Obama, the President of U.S., accepted his responsibility for fighting against the terrorism when he accepted the presidency of United States. He quoted,'I consider it part of my responsibility as President of the United States to fight against negative stereotypes of Islam wherever they appear.' Recently, when President Obama acknowledged that U.S. intelligence services had intercepted two packages containing explosive material, carried on two cargo planes bound for the United States. he vowed that counterintelligence agencies would "take whatever steps are necessary" to prevent an terrorist attack. He is working to fulfill his responsibility or expectations set by him, when he accepted the presidency. On the other hand he likewise said,"As a nuclear power - as the only nuclear power to have used a nuclear weapon - the United States has a moral responsibility to act." So, what he did in order to fulfill this new responsibility of resolving the foreign issues and conflicts? He, recently, supported an legislation of reducing military aid to Chad, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Sudan, and Yemen who used child-soldiers in war. He asserted firmly that " it is in the national interest of the United States" to waive application of the Child Soldiers Prevention Act for the four countries. Even if President Obama has enormous work, he never postponed or ignored his responsibility he ever accepted.

 OF | LUCK | THE | Responsibility

President Nixon, the first President to be ever impeached, was charged with Water-Gate Scandal: the burglary or break-in to the Democratic National Committee headquarters at the Watergate Office Complex in Washington, D.C. The purpose was to steal all essential documents relating Democrats that can be exploited in upcoming election. Video Tapes that recorded the conservation with Nixon and strangers about the break-in were found. So, Is Nixon have the trait of being responsible? No, Because Nixon, before accepting Presidency swore that he ' will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States' but he never fulfilled his swore oath. This is what we should try to avoid like be. We are responsible for our own actions and when we accept a certain responsibility, we are obliged to act out that responsibility even if it requires extensive struggle and pain.

The Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, or BP oil spill, is an oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico which flowed for roughly three months in 2010, releasing roughly about 4.9 million barrels (185 million gallons) of crude oil. It was the largest accidental marine oil spill in the history of the petroleum industry. It was estimated that 53,000 barrels per day was escaping from the well just before it could be stopped. On September 19, the relief well process was successfully completed and the federal government declared the well "effectively dead". But NY Times claimed, "Halliburton officials knew weeks before the fatal explosion of the BP well in the Gulf of Mexico that the cement mixture they planned to use to seal the bottom of the well was unstable but still went ahead with the job ." What does this action demonstrate about the characteristics of Halliburton, World's second largest oilfield services; with headquarters in Houston, Texas. Halliburton should be more responsible in doing his duty. If he knew that the cement used was inauthentic and can cause oil spill, he was just being ignoring his responsibility of making sure that everything done in the industry is safe for human as well as environment. This is what we should try to avoid. A slight ignorance of responsibility can wreak havoc in Nature. Be Responsible.
