FC: It's a beautiful day, don't let it get away. | Scout's Book

Hi I'm Scout! I live in Maycomb. I have a brother named Jem, he is a great brother. My dad, Atticus Finch is a lawyer. My mom died when I was little and I don't remember much about her. I love to read and Jem's been sayin I could read since I was born.

Me and Jem like to play in the treehouse, their aren't many kids in our neighborhood so we mostly play by ourselves. I am a tomboy and I like to overalls but Aunt Alexandra says I should be more ladylike and wear dresses.

It used to be just me and Jem until summer when Dill came to town. He is from Meridian, Mississippi and he comes every summer to stay with Ms. Rachel. Dill has a very wide imagination, he suggested that we started to make plays about Boo Radley

This is my brother, Jem. He always is wanted to play football and never backs down from dares. Jem is four years older than I am. Even though Jem doesn't like to play games with me as much cause he growin up he still always protects me.

On halloween night, me and Jem were walking back from the court house when we hear noises in the bushes. At first we thought it is Cecil Jacobs but then we are attacked. Jem got his arm broken, and the doctor said the ham costume i was wearing was probably the only thing that saved my life. Well that and Boo Radley he stopped Mr. Ewell from killing me and Dill, he had a kitchen knife and was out to kill us,

When Dill came over in the summer, we started to play the Radley game. We would get all dressed up and it would be real fun but then I feared that Atticus was startin' to figure out what games we were playing. I also feared that Boo Radley might find out about our game and beat us our somethin'. Luckily no one found out about the game because we decided to stop playing it after a while.

In the beginning, I was always wantin' to read and I was real good at it. I got into trouble at school for knowin how to read and so Atticus explained to me that if I continue to go to school, that he would continue to help me read.

One snowy day, me and Jem decided to make a snowman. We had never made one before because it never snows in Maycomb. When we were all finished it looked exactly like Mr. Avery.

"When they finally saw him, why he hadn't done any of those things..Atticus he was real nice" (Lee 281). I was tellin' Atticus about this man who didn't do nothing wrong but still got in trouble. It's just not fair for people to be convicted of something because of their color, or because they ain't the richest of the rich. When a man is innocent we have to look real deep down inside of em'.
