This term is highlighted in present days because of the sudden decrease in sex ratio. It is meant throughout the world that sharp decline in sex ratio is a result of deliberate action of killing female fetus in the mother's womb itself. 2: Growing up in India for more then 21 years of my life, I have witnessed many womens who have lived through the pain of this social reality having fought to save their daughters. After marriage, the prospect of having a child is a night mare for many Indian womens who are pressurized to produce a baby boy under pain of rejection and torture. The story of Dr.Mitu Khurana , is an example of the approach towards daughters in middle class, educated India. Mitu alleges that when she refused to undergo a sonography, she was tricked into one in the guise of kidney test. She was then pressurized to abort the twin girls she was carrying. The concept of a loving mother who nurtures and forms the foundation of lives is deeply ingrained in the Indian psyche. In reality, the way mothers are treated is very shocking.

Daughters are considered as economic burdens because of the high cost of weddings, while sons provide income, and are seen as type of insurance by their parents. 8: Both Conflict and Feminist perspective relates to the issue of Female Foeticide. Women will remain in their subordinate position as long as men maintain their social, economic, and cultural advantage. Conflict theorists identify how women's subordinate position is linked to their relationship to the means of production. Feminist theories refer to gender as a process, a system of social practices that creates and maintains gender distinctions and inequalities. Feminist theory is a way of looking at the social world through the lens of gender inequality. The focus is on male and female "power".Feminist theory addresses the roles women have in society and the ongoing battles women face. Most importantly, this way of thinking about the social world focuses on the rights of women including economic, sexual, reproductive, property and voting rights.

10: Female Foeticide is a danger and menace to humanity. It can destroy the very foundation of society and damage the smooth running of life for humans on earth. It will create a situation that forces men to commit immortal and unethical acts which leads to physiological and psychological distortion. It is necessary to stop it as early as possible if the human race is to continue and humans are to live in a dignified way in this world. Some suggestions to eradicate this social problem are: Principle of equality between men and women should be more widely promoted. Government regulations prohibiting the use of prenatal sex identification techniques for non medical purposes should be strictly enforced and violators should be punished. Laws and regulations on the protection of women and children should be strictly enforced. Family planning programs should focus on effective public education, good counseling and service delivery to increase contraceptive prevalence, reduce unplanned pregnancies and minimize the need for an induced abortion.
