FC: The Civil War Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln played a very big part in the Civil war that not to many people know about. | My topic is on Abraham Lincoln. How he helped out the Union win the war, and help free the slaves by The Emancipation Proclamation.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12th, 1809. Lincolns Abes birth place was Hardin county, Kentucky.Lincoln and his family moved to Illinois. Lincolns mom died from milk poisoning, his father married a widow, Abe was very close with his step mother.

Lincoln became President at age 52 and he served for two terms. He was the 16th president. Abe Lincoln got married on November 4,1842, Mary and Abe had three sons. Abraham Lincoln died at the age of 56.

Lincoln bought a big part of the rail road that helped the north big time in shipping men and supplies out to them. The south had a disadvantage's by not having the same amount of rail road as the Union did.

Lincoln during the Civil War had to run the rest of the U.S. and had to mange the Union army.

Lincoln played one of the biggest parts in the Civil War. He bought the rail road, He used the telegraph witched helped him communicate with his troops. He was able to send more ammunition and troops to the battlefield faster then it was to march all that way.

The North benefited from Lincoln. He did nothing that happed the South. When Lincoln made the | Emancipation Proclamation the slaves came a fought with the Union. The African Americans were some | of the best soliders the Union ever had fight for them.

Life could be very different today if the south would have won. the South would be a sprite nation right now if Lincoln was never around. Slavery could still be around and African Americans wouldn't have the same rights as a wight person.

If Lincoln would have never been around a man named Stephen Douglas would might have won the presidential election and Stephen | would have helped the south out much more the Lincoln. Many things would be different today if Abraham Lincoln was never around during this time.

A famous speech by Abraham Lincoln Four score and seven years ago fathers brought forth on this continent,a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle-field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this.

But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate -- we can not consecrate -- we can not hallow -- this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us -- that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion -- that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain -- that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by people for the people, shall not perish from the earth.

The Emancipation proclamation is another famous speech that Abraham Lincoln wrought in his time as president. That on the 1st day of January, A.D. 1864, all persons held as slaves within any State or designated part of a State the people whereof shall then be in rebellion against the United States shall be then, thenceforward, and forever free; and the executive government of the united states, including the military and naval authority thereof, will recognize and maintain the freedom of such persons and will do no act or acts to repress such persons, or any of them, in any efforts they may make for their actual freedom.

There is so much more to that speech but it is still such a famous speech, and how it changed everything in the war. After January first all the slaves were freed and could do what they wanted now. Some of them came and joined the Union to help them fight the south, and thats really what helped the Union win the war.

the end of the war ended on April 9, 1864 when General Robert E. Lee surrendered . Still in some places people were still fighting.

Abraham Lincoln died on April 15, 1865. Lincoln was assassinated at the Ford Theater in Washington D.C. The person who assassinated Abraham Lincoln was John Wilkes Booth. John planed to capture Lincoln during | the war but he never did so. Lincoln dreamed that he was going to be killed. He had this famous dream in City Point Virginia after the war council meeting about ending the Civil War. | Abraham Lincoln didn't just help the north he made it so they could win by buying the rail road, using the telegraph like they did, he made the Emancipation Proclamation witch freed the slaves and the African Americans came and helped fight the South and that helped them win the war. If it wasn't for Lincoln I think the south would have won and the South wouldn't be apart of this nation.
