S: The Great Depression
FC: THE GREAT DEPRESSION
1: The stock market crashed in 1929 causing people to lose money making them want to pull there money out of the banks. This put many banks out of business making everybody who did not pull there money out of the banks lose it.
2: During the great depression many soup kitchens sprouted up often because religious people believed that it was there duty to help the poor
3: The children of the Great Depression were normally not very clean and normally pretty ragged.
4: Many of the men during the Great Depression were jobless or getting paid very little.Some of the families lived off of soup kitchen and other relief efforts because the men had no money to pay for a house or food.
5: The Great Depression lasted 12 years so many of the | people did not have the money to pay for housing | so the started moving into places like this | many people also lived in boxes or just on the street.
6: The great depression never came to a complete halt, but conditions slowly got better. Many people believe that Roosevelt's New Deal helped to accelerate the end of the Great Depression.
