2: Ancient River Valley Civilization | What if Hammurabi did not write his code of laws? | If the code hadn't been written crime would have been high and improper respect of others values wouldn't be in place.
3: The Ancient River Valley civilization was one of the first civilizations that had job specialization, cultural diffusion, and a government. They followed a system called The code of Hammurabi. The first civilizations were along; Nile River Valley( Egypt) Tigris and Euphrates ( Iraq) Indus ( India) Huang( China)
4: Classical Greece/Rome | What if Rome did not fall? | If the Eastern half didn't fall into a Byzantine Empire maybe today you would see less Muslim rule.
5: In the city-state of classical Greece and Rome the social classes were broken into two classes plebeians and patricians. Fights between men often were held to impress women the winner was called arete. Alexander the Great, was the rule at the time of Greece.
6: Post-Classical Asia/Africa | What if the Mongols had not opened the Silk Road to safe travels? | Trade across east, south, west, and north Asia would not exist
7: Post-Classical Asia/ Africa was a Stateless society. It had many story tellers the most know one was Griots. Money was often very hard to come across. Great Zimbabwe (one of the most powerful city-states) was one of the places many traveled to for health, and trade issues. Europe was one of the main factors in helping Africa gain their civilization. Europe divided the ethnic groups of Africa for their own benefits.
8: Post-Classical (Medieval) Europe
9: Post classical Europe was a very dark time. A sickness called the Black Plague hit killing many, changing there art to very dark paintings many people also lost their faith in God and the church. Many Churches and buildings were shifted to a more Gothic style. Their government was a monarchy they had lords,vassals, and serfs. | What if the Black Plague did not attack western Europe? | Their art and music style would be different and the people who once held faith in God would still believe.
10: Renaissance & Reformation | What if Gutenberg hadn't invented the printing press? | If the printing press was never invented maps wouldn't be easy to come across, so less travel and trade. Also books were never made.
11: Reformation came about when the Protestant group broke away from the Catholic church. They didn't like the way the Catholic ran their churches. Renaissance means "rebirth". It was the rebirth of knowledge the printing press was one of the main inventions made during the time. Humanism was created from it. Patrons were held in high regards often.
12: Enlightenment Ideas and Revolutions | People wanted change. They didn't like how some things were being run so they made new rules for themselves. In Great Britain people were making new inventions to make things easier for them. They made steam engines and printing presses to travel more and make more books.
13: What if the Enlightenment ideas were not embraced by the colonist? | If the change was never made than people would be following the rules of others and would have to revolt against the ones who enforce them and all would be horrible and begin fights.
14: World War One | World War 1 started when the next emperor, or heir to Austria was killed. The people who killed him were from a country called Serbia and Austria didn't like Serbia so they went to war. Russia came and helped Serbia, so Germany came to help Austria. France wanted to help too so they came and started fighting with Germany. | In the end, Germany was blamed for the war because they did the most damage
15: What if Germany had not been solely blamed for the WW1? | If they had not been solely blamed for for the war maybe they would have gone and killed everyone in world war two. | World War I
16: World War Two | Germany got so mad at the other countries in Europe that they started another war. Japan wanted to help so they attacked the United States. We didn't want to be attacked so we attacked Japan right back. France and England didn't want to fight another war with Germany so they tried to make them happy to avoid making them mad. This is called Appeasement.
17: What if the U.S hadn't dropped the atomic bombs on Japan? | If we had never dropped the atomic bomb on Japan to stop the war to this day the war would still be going on. Millions of people would be dead.
18: The Cold War | The Cold War was when Russia didn't like The US and The US didn't like Russia. They never went to war but they were enemies. The Theory of Containment was a policy that the US made to stop the Russians from spreading communism. During The Cold War the US and Russia were both trying to reach space. They both tried to out do each other to see who could do what first. Russia sent a satellite into space first but The US landed on the moon first.
19: What if the Russians had landed on the moon first? | If the Russians had landed on the moon before the US then they would have tried to keep it all for themselves and would have tried to end the American Space Program

21: Renaissance:rebirth of ideas Printing Press:a machine for printing on paper Humanism:humans interest, values, and dignity Patrons:The Church leaders, wealthy families, and merchants who spent a huge amount of money on art. Enlightenment Ideas:new ideas about government,religion, and family Revolutions:a sudden, complete or marked change in something Stem Engines:the first way of transporting stuff by water nationalism:extreme pride and love of ones country and willingness to sacrifice for it Heir: next in line to rule an area Austria:a country in Europe Serbia:A former kingdom in southern Europe Germany:a country in Europe Japan:a group of islands in the ocean Appeasement:to give into a rule to make they happy The Cold War:a "butt heads" war The Theory of Containment: A policy of the US to keep communism from spreading Policy: A definite course of action Satellite: A device designed o be launched into orbit in space
