2: Objectives: | 1. Understand why the United States went to war against Mexico. 2. Explain the term civil disobedience. 3. Identify the states that were created from the land acquired from Mexico.

3: Another War | 1.The President was going to war with Mexico. 2.He got a note saying Mexicans have crossed the border and attacked his troops. 3.On May 13, 1846 America and Mexico went to war.

4: There's a whole lot of party going on | A Boundary Dispute | 1. Texas captured the Mexican ruler Santa Anna and wanted him to give Texas independence. 2. After his release, Mexico lied to Texas, but Texas overthrew them and Texas became a United State.

5: President Polk Looks to California | 1. President Polk was worried he would not gain California. 2. California belongs to Mexico, but soon Americans came liked it, and decided to stay,pushing out the Mexicans.

6: The United States Declare War on Mexico | 1. After Mexico refused to sell California and New Mexico to the U.S, the U.S declared war. 2. Polk sent a general across the Rio Grande to stand for the U.S. 3. Polk lied by saying that blood was spilled on American soil. It was actually spilled on Mexican land.

7: Some Americans Oppose the War | 1. Some Americans did not think that the president was telling the truth about American blood on American land. 2. Abraham Lincoln refused and doubted the president. 3. Still, most Americans were excited about the war and volunteered for the army.

8: The Bear Flag Republic | 1. Most people helped the war and thought it has a good cause. 2. Soon the U.S.A had taken over Santa Fe and California. 3. The United States of America was rapidly growing off of Mexico's land.

9: The U.S.A Grow | 1. New Mexico and California were in the hands of the U.S. 2. In the peace treaty that ended the war in 1848 Mexico gave up almost all of the present day Southwest. 3. The U.S.A gave Mexico 15 million bucks in exchange for New Mexico joining the United States of America.
