FC: North Myrtle Beach Intermediate | 5th Grade Trip to Washington, DC | May 22-25, 2012

1: Washington, D.C Bound | North Myrtle Beach Intermediate

2: On May 22, 2012 fifth graders departed NMBI at 6:30 a.m on 5 buses.

3: The first stop on the tour was the National Museum of the Marine Corps. | National Museum of the Marine Corps

7: Holocaust Memorial Museum | The second stop on the tour of Washington, DC was the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum. Students toured the "Daniel's Story" exhibit, where they had the opportunity to view the effects of Holocaust on someone their age.

10: Museum of Natural History | Museum of American History | National Air & Space Museum | Hirshhorn Museum

11: The third stop on the tour was a 5 hour self guided exploration of the Smithsonian Complex. | Students were able to explore the Smithsonian museums at their own pace. They were able to see many of the historical artifacts they learned about in the classroom.

16: Arlington National Cemetery | Arlington National Cemetery was the fourth stop on the tour. Students got an opportunity to view the grave of President John F. Kennedy, the tomb of the unknowns, the Curtis-Lee mansion and memorials for every major historical event that impacted the United States

20: The final stop on the tour was a guided walking tour through the World War II, Martin L. King Jr., Franklin D. Roosevelt and Lincoln Memorials. | World War II Memorial

23: DID YOU KNOW?: Roosevelt was the first President to make full use of the radio, the first to fly in a plane

24: The White House | The guided walking tour also included a viewing of the White House from behind the fence. The students were very excited to see the house of the President of the United States.
