1: We Didn't Start The Fire is a song written by Billy Joel. In this song he mentions important places, people and events that took place in the 1950's to the 1980's. In this book your are going to read about five different people and events that are mention in this song. Ho Chi Minh, Richard Nixon Back Again, Moon shot, Woodstock, and Watergate.

2: Ho Chi Minh was born on May 19, 1890. In 1942 he adopted the name Ho Chi Minh. Minh was the president of North Vietnam during the Vietnam War. He wanted to make Vietnam a communist country ruled by himself and the Viet Minh guerilla. He did a movement to develop a guerilla called Viet Minh that fought Japanese and back them off from Vietnam. He received help from the US Office of Strategy Service, politically and military. After Japan surrender in 1945 Vietnam needed an imperial power. On September 2, 1945, Ho declared the creation of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam with himself as president. One year later the French was consistent about getting their Asian empire back, Ho offered a deal to rule the French and him but they refused that broke out to war during eight years when the French back out. After WWII Ho Chi Minh became allies with China and the Soviet Union. The southern capital of Saigon fell to a final communist onslaught in 1975, it was renamed Ho Chi Minh City in his honor. He was the one that fought during 30 years trying to make Vietnam a communist country. Ho Chi Minh died of a heart ailment on September 2, 1969. | Ho Chi Minh

4: Richard Nixon Back Again | Richard Nixon was the vice president of the United States of America. Then he runs for president, in 1960. Richard Nixon lost the presidency campaign against John F. Kennedy, and after losing the race for governor in California in 1962. He made a promise to the world that he would not go back to any type of politics, "You won't have Dick Nixon to kick around anymore" a promise he broke in 1967-1974, when he came as the 37th President of the United States of America. That is what the “back again” refers to, he said he backed off but he came back again in 1967 to politics as president. While he was president he also ended the US presence in Vietnam, repaired relations with China, and initiated Detente with USSR. In 1972 Nixon was being accused of participating in the cover-up of the Watergate, he forced workers to resign while he declared he had nothing to do with it. In 9th August 1974 he was the first US president to resign from office. Richard Nixon finally died on 22th April 1994.

6: Woodstock | Woodstock was record video of a concert held in the Art and Music Festival on August 15, 1969 and was from August 15 until August 18. The concert was organized by four man, Michael Lang, John Roberts, Joel Roseman, and Arti Kornfeld. These men had the task to create an exaggerated music festival were hundreds of people would assist, and be remembered for many years. In this festival people could have four days of peace, and music. It include icons as Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Joe Cocker, Santana, and The Who. There where near a half million people in the crowd at Woodstock messaging people that they could go peacefully and celebrate peace and music. The Woodstock has come to one of the most famous concerts in the world ‘s History.

8: Watergate | The biggest political scandal in the United States history is called Watergate. Watergate was in the 1972’s during the reelection of the President Richard M. Nixon, it was by President Nixon and some other guys from the committee who were sent to court with charges in conspiracy in covering up the Watergate break in. This scandal also represented an attack on one of the chief’s features of democracy, free and open elections. It also involved some other activities like burglary, wiretapping, violations of campaign financing laws, sabotage, and the attempted use of government agencies to harm political opponents. In the early 1973’s evidence was found that connected the white house with the break-in and cover-up of the Watergate. In 1973 Nixon declared he didn’t have anything to do with the Watergate. From 1973 to 1974 Nixon was accused to plan and make the Watergate break-in and cover-up. In 1974 were released additional transcripts of tapped white house conversation which stated that Nixon had approved the Watergate cover-up six days after the break in. Nixon immediately lost almost all his remaining support in the Congress.
