FC: Youth Service Portfolio

3: The students have impacted my life by showing me new areas of learning at young ages, I also formed many relationships with students at my site. I often was missed by the children when I left. I have learned to form more friendships with the younger generations, so I am able to understand the future more in depth. Also, I have learned to be more sympathetic when students are unsure of the activities.

4: At my site: I have learned to cooperate with children more and allow them to learn more individually while still helping them when needed. I have learned a large amount of how to assist in the learning of children from my own students in class.

7: For my future in Physical Therapy I will use my experiences to perform my job better. | During Class, I often used the I-Pad or I-Touches to work with the children on their learning activities. I was amazed at how much technology has transformed since my time in school

8: Timesheets: Week 1: Monday: 1:10-1:49 Made sock puppets with a needle, pipe cleaners, and tye dye socks Tuesday: 1:10-1:53 Finished previous project from day before. Made coffee filter butterflies also. Wednesday: 1:02-1:50 He/ped Mitchell with coloring. Assisted Brady, Dominic, Gabe, and Ayden do foamy alphabet letters. Read the Hungry caterpillar. Thursday: 1:01-1:50 Did alphabet flash cards with the class | Week 2: Monday 1:06-1:52 Assisted with play time, fixed broken toys. Tuesday: 1:06-1:53 Did rhyming words with classes. Thursday: 1:06-1:52 Helped Dominic with rhyming words. He is great with his alphabet, but needs help in rhyming.

9: Week 3: Monday 1:10-1:43 Helped Trevor do alphabet, numbers, and spelling. Taught him how to write his name. He needs more help in this department, but he learned a lot. *Tuesday 1:16-1:47 Did picture matching with class. I was amazed at how the classroom technologies have changed since I was in kindergarten. *Wednesday 1:12-1:42 Colored in the scarecrows with the class. Helped children use I-touches and I-pad the classroom has. *Thursday1:10-1:41 Outlined the children’s scarecrows so they could begin to cut them out from their pages. | Week 4: Monday 1:10-1:43 Distributed crayons to the class for their “Orange Pumpkin Orange Pumpkin, what do yo see?” books. Tuesday 1:15-1:45 Today we continued to color our scarecrows that the children were going to present for grandparents’ day. Wednesday 1:10-1:42 Cut out scarecrow pieces for the children to glue together for their “scarecrow” project. Thursday 1:10-1:40 Today was a beautiful day, so we went outside! I gathered some of the children and we played “State Tag” on the map of the United States on the playground.

10: Week 5: Monday 1:10-1:40 Completed Alphabet words and matched up with Mitchell, and Dominic. After, we went outside since it was nice out. Tuesday 1:15-1:40 Completed Alphabet puzzle with Gabe, then went out with class to recess | Week 6: Monday 1:10-1:40 Completed alhpabet sheet for Brady, Janessa, and Mitchell. Graded the lower and upper case alphabets Tuesday 1:17-1:42 Set up the children's books for grandparents day! Organized all of the work the children have been working on over the weeks into a folder so their grandpa/grandma would be able to see what they have accomplished. Wednesday NONE-in class Thursday 1:10-1:40 I completed the letter puzzles with Gabe and Filepe, also had each child recite their alphabet. Friday Used paper room to cut out strips for the class headbands for a future project. I am unsure what the headbands will bet used for!

11: Week 7: Monday 1:12-1:40 Laminated Projects that the children have completed for their Grandparents. Also, I cut out the laminations to save the class some time. Tuesday 1:16-1:39 Today, I cut out paper for the future “Shiny Christmas Tree paper.” Wednesday 1:15-1:40 The class was on a field trip today to the pumpkin farm. I was unaware of this, so another teacher gave me permission to work on homework since my classroom didn't have any work for me in it. | Week 8: Monday-- 1:04-1:37 Completed number puzzle with children. Assisted Dominic with painting. Tuesday-- 1:10-1:43 Cut out paper for class projects. The projects are for the future Christmas cards as well as the holiday decorations. Wednesday-- 1:10-1:40 Helped construct cards for soldiers overseas. I also made one to share, as there were students who were absent from the class. Thursday-- 1:10-1:40 Children made turkey hands today for thanksgiving project. They colored and decorated a book with their personally drawn hand in the shape of a turkey.

12: Week 9: Monday 1:09-1:40 Today, the children began their turkey hand books. I assisted some children with tracing their hands so the drawing would appear more clear. Tuesday 1:16-1:40 Continued with previous project in classroom. Dominic refused to color today, and was not allowed to play until he finished. I assisted him on finishing his work, but told him that he must work hard to finish during class time. Wednesday 1:12-1:42 Today, the classroom was split between the Veterans Day activities to prepare for the 11th and the children who needed to finish their turkey books. Thursday 1:14-1:43 With the final day of the week, I completed a letter puzzle with Natasha and Brady. The children showed great effor today in class also. I was surprised by the work ethic of certain children. | Week 10: Monday: 1:10-1:40 Listened to Alex read me a book. Natasha refused to read to me after the teacher warning her many times to read to me. Apparently, she is just shy around men according to Ms. Koene. Tuesday 1:15-1:40 Helped dominic color Batman! he had to finish his family activity in where he needed to draw his family Thursday Gave a spelling test today to Brady. He struggled greatly today. I observed that he had a hard time paying attention when I was quizzing him. Friday 1:08-1:40 Helped Caleb, Gabrial, and Jenessa begin their alphabet. Helped Hanna, Alberto, and Drake start their lower case letters. I placed glitter shining Christmas trees on the bench outside the room to dry.

13: Week 11: Monday 1:08-1:38 I cut out Turkey paper for the the Thanksgiving headbands. I helped the class by preparing 60+ cutouts. Tuesday 1:15-1:41 The children completed their "I am going to Grandma's/ I am staying home for Thanksgiving" projects that were due at the end of class. | Week 12: Monday 1:10-1:40 Sight words with Aiden. Helped complete the colors of Christmas books. Tuesday 1:14-1:45 Christmas bell ring project with Dominic. He used his creative skills today! Wednesday 1:10-1:41 Ipad smartiepants app with Brylee and Aiden. Aiden tends to be shy when working Thursday 1:10-1:42 Spelling test with Gabe s. Smartiepants learning app with Natasha. She struggled to understand what we were working on.

14: Week 13: Tuesday--1:10-1:40 Completed number counting tests with Alex and Natasha. Children were planning their Christmas books. Wednesday 1:10-1:42 Began Christmas coloring books for Christmas. Thursday 1:10-1:41 Continued x-mas coloring books for Christmas. Children proved to be effective workers today. | Week 14: Monday 1:16-1:40 Helped prepare Christmas hand paint bulbs with Mitchell Tuesday 1:16-1:44 Continued project with Alex, Dominic, and Mylee Wednesday 1:17-1:45 Same project with Ethan, Sage, and Catalina. Thursday 1:15-1:45 Completed the rest of the Christmas bulbs with Alex G. Andrew and Kaylei

15: Week 15: Monday 1:16-1:40 Helped Prepare X-Mas bulbs with Mitchell Tuesday 1:16-1:44 Continued project with Alex, Dominic and Mylee Wednesday 1:17-1:45 Finished project with Ethan, Sage, and Catalina. | Week 16: Monday 1:12-1:40 With Aiden reading and Felipe. Wednesday 1:17-1:45 I had my Colombian exchange student, Federico visited the classroom to understand the younger side of American learning. | Final Week: Monday: 1:10-1:49 How many sounds activity with blocks Tuesday: 1:16-1:42 Completed Coloring with children who were behind

16: At my site: I have became a great leader for the children. Frequently, I was stopped in the hall by children I have never met. The connection with my classroom was clearly much deeper. I began to learn the names of the children and I was able to assist many with their learning. Every day at my site was great. I enjoyed spending time with the younger generation, knowing that someday my life will be in their hands. I rarely had issues with students who would decide not to work I would be creative and offer solutions to get the best benefit for both of us throughout the classroom. I will sincerely miss Parkview, it has been a great school to return to as a High School Student.
