FC: Years to remember

1: "Families are like fudge mostly sweet with a few nuts." ~Author Unknown | Chapter One The Korean/Vietnam Wars On June 25, 1950, the North Korean army, led by Kim Il Sung, crossed the 28th parallel into South Korea. The US, fearing the effects of the domino theory, decided to enter the war against North Korea.

2: (directly above) the fear of giant blocks with names on them falling against each other is called dominotheoryphobia. (top left corner) "North Korea invades South Korea!" was so over hyped. Headlines should have said "Gas Prices go up to 30 Cents!" (directly to the right) the Korean War cost us $54 billion back then, or $454 billion today.

3: It's the little things that make life beautiful. | (directly to the left) Brhhhh! it was cold in Korea! (down left diagonal) the 38th parallel, the starting point and ending point of the Korean War. (directly below) look! some locals are happy that we're bombing their houses! (top middle) LOOK! everyone loves explosions!

4: Love/Valentines Day/Anniversary | "I love you, not only for what you are, But for what I am when I am with you." -Roy Croft | "Lucky I'm in love with my best friend" | The Vietnam War Represented a successful attempt on the part of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam and the National Front for the Liberation of Vietnam to unite and impose a communist system over the entire nation. Opposing the DRV was the Republic of Vietnam, backed by the United States.

6: ( directly to the left) LOL those Vietcong always had a knack for popping out of no where. (directly above) for some reason the war wasn't really popular,maybe it was the army uniforms?

7: "The more you laugh the longer you live" | "Good times are even better when they are shared" | (directly to the left) strange... I wouldn't normally jump for joy if my friends were shot. (two pictures to the left) we're just spreading some Agent Orange, a deadly chemical that could have catastrophic side effects, whats the worst that could happen? (directly below) the Huey helicopters, the things that brought you in and back out of hell.

9: Hippity Hoppity Easters On It's Way | (Directly Below) the war cost us $30 billion back then, $111 billion today. (directly left, result of Agent Orange) I take it back! I TAKE IT BACK! | (directly to the left) you see this male donkey hole we died to assist? (directly below) well he was executing people "suspected" of being a communist.

10: Good times are even better when shared with | Chapter 2 China During the time of American military involvement in East Asia, China was going through a cultural revolution via the Great Leap Forward. Mao Zedong, often regarded as the father of China, was putting into place his vision for China based on the communist doctrine. Through Chinese participation in the Korean and Vietnam Wars, Mao Zedong was able to elevated his status and prestige as a leader.

11: (above) Grandfather? is that you?

12: The ribbons of your love are woven around my heart | (directly to the left) Zhou Enlai, a Chinese Communist leader and premier of the People's Republic of China. From the 1920s on Chou was among the top leaders of the Chinese Communist party I swear, this guy looks exactly like my uncle.

13: "Flowers have the sun, children have their mothers." ~Kay Andrew | (directly left) McDonalds 1950, AKA Communes. A community of people that shared interests, living quarters, and possessions. i don't know about you, but I've never been one to share. | (directly to the right) The Cultural Revolution. Great, go ahead and burn thousands of years of knowledge, philosophy, and history. There is no way that everyone won't respect you after.

15: (above) The Great Leap Backwa errrhhh Forward, The Great Leap Forward. A heroic effort by Mao to modernize China that involved melting farmers tools to make wonderful illustrious crap...fail, just epic fail. (Left) the man who chose to stand in front of marauding tanks shall be forever remembered (far left) Tienanmen Protests started by students protesting for economic and social reform did not end well | (right) if you want something to blame for cheap low quality products, blame the four great modernizations that opened China to foreign investment

16: Family, Fun, Food and Fireworks | Chapter 3 Soviet Union from Stalin to Khrushchev. The reign of Soviet Leaders from Stalin to Khrushchev was marked with unprecedented hostility and tension between the US and Soviet Union. All out war was nearly declared as evident in the Cuban Missile Crisis. This period is also marked by the advancement of technology and the start of the space race.

17: "Home of the free... Because of the Brave" ~Author Unknown | Let's Celebrate! | OOOOOOooooo! Aaahhhhhh! Ohhhhhhhh!!! | President John F. Kennedy

19: (directly to the left) the Marshall Plan was an American policy to send financial aid to Europe to insure that it doesn't fall into communism. (far left) the United Nations is a world organization in which members are nations that was created to keep the peace and insure that another world war does not happen. (down left diagonal) The US policy of containment meant that the US would fight communism where ever it emerged. (bottom left corner) the Truman Doctrine sent money to Greece and Turkey to prevent communism from spreading. Aren't they still broke? (Bottom) The Iron Curtain referred to a physical and idealogical boundary that divided east and west Europe.

20: Hooray For Birthdays | (Above) the Warsaw Pact was a military alliance between soviet Russia and eastern Europe to counter act NATO (left) the Berlin Wall was a huge wall that divided East and west Germany. Fell in 1989.

21: (above) NATO is a strategic military alliance that was formed to protect each other from communist invasion. (right) Brinkmanship was the ability to push issues to their breaking point in oder to benefit.

22: (below) is it just me, or does Fidel Castro look a lot like Liam Neeson

23: Always a New Adventure | (above)The Cuban Missile Crisis occurred when the Soviet Union tried to install missiles in Cuba that could reach the US. Ended in the Soviet Union backing off. | (above) The Sputnik was the first satellite to be launched. it started the space race. (below) in an effort to overthrow Castro, CIA trained Cubans attempted to retake Cuba. It Failed.

24: Chapter 4 Soviet Union from Brezhenev to Yeltsin The Soviet Reign from Brezhenev to Yeltsin was characterized by the end of the Cold War, Disbarment, and the fall of communism.

25: (below) Mikhail Gorbechev AKA Mr. Doodoo head. believe or not, but this guy got a Nobel prize for losing the Cold War

26: (left) President Nixon is the only president to resign as the nation's chief executive. Facing charges of misconduct in office for his involvement in the Watergate scandal, Nixon chose to resign rather than undergo a lengthy impeachment trial. Also known for his "i'm going to rape you" smiles.

27: Trick or Treat! | (left) "Perestroika" (restructuring) and "glasnost" (openness) were Mikhail Gorbachev's watchwords for the renovation of the Soviet body politic and society. | (right) Reagan obtained legislation to stimulate economic growth, curb inflation, increase employment, and strengthen national defense. he known for pressuring the Soviet Union into disbarment talks.

28: Titanic Montage anyone?

29: "The more you laugh the longer you live" | (left) The Cold War ultimately brought the Soviet Union down, but it took nearly half a century to accomplish this goal. The Soviet Union's arms race, space race and continued support of the communist regime (all of which cost a lot of money) resulted in a stagnant economy with virtually no growth. | (left) the SALT talks set limits to the nuclear capabilities of both the US and Soviet Union (Below) Serbian military commander in Bosnia, Ratko Mladic, sometimes issued specific orders to his soldiers to shell a particular village more than others, because there is less Serbs and more Muslims living there.
