S: CALLED TO SERVE - Elder Dillon Andrew Martin - Idaho Pocatello Mission
BC: The Fellowship of the Unashamed I am part of the fellowship of the unashamed. I have Holy Spirit power, my die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of Jesus Christ. I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still. My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, worldly talking, cheap giving, and dwarfed goals. I no longer need pre-eminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, first, tops, recognized, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, am uplifted by prayer, and labor by power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven, my road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my Guide is reliable, and my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded, or delayed. I will not flinch in the face of sacrifice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, shut up or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, prayed up, and preached up for the cause of Christ. I am a disciple of Jesus Christ. I must go till He comes, give till I drop, preach till all know, and work till He stops me. And when He comes for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me - my banner will be clear.

8: Wherefore, my beloved brethren, I know that if ye shall follow the Son, with full purpose of heart, acting no hypocrisy and no deception before God, but with real intent, repenting of your sins, witnessing unto the father that ye are willing to take upon you the name of Christ, by baptism - yea, by following your Lord and your Savior down into the water, according to his word, behold, then shall ye receive the Holy Ghost; yea, then cometh the baptism of fire and of the Holy Ghost; and then can ye speak with the tongue of angels, and shout praises unto the Holy One of Israel. 2 Nephi 31:13

He was the first lesson that I ever gave and I invited him to be baptized on my first lesson ever. After he came up out of the water I was sooooo pumped!!! I wanted to jump into the font and give him a huge hug. It felt like I was the one being baptized." Exert from Elder Martins letter 2/14/2011
12: I know that which the Lord hath commanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory , that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance ; and this is my joy. And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy... Alma 29:9,10

23: Chelsie Highland April 23, 2011 "This week we had the wonderful opportunity to see another one of Gods children enter into the straight gate and start a new life on the straight and narrow path. Chelsea got baptized on Saturday! It was a wonderful service. What a great way to start off the Easter weekend." Elder Martin | Ashlee Kiefer April 30, 2011 " I had the awesome opportunity to baptize Ashlee on Saturday!! It was a way cool experience! I felt so blessed that she would ask me to baptize her." Elder Martin
27: "This past week has been awesome! Remember in my first couple of emails I talked about a less active family that we were going to baptize on the 26th of January. They ended up moving out of my previous area suddenly, before we could find out where they were going to move. Well, we were riding our bikes down the street, in my new area, and we passed a group of kids walking home from school. About a hundred feet after we passed them I slammed on my breaks! I realized that I recognized one of the kids! It was the Jorgenson family that I had taught three months earlier!! They remembered who I was and I found out the address and went back later that night. They are really nice and It was crazy to see them again! We bore our testimony about the Savior and baptism and they are now scheduled to be baptized the 4th of June! We are really exited!... No unhallowed hand can stop the work from progressing. It’s nice to have that kind of power on your side!!" Elder Dillon Martin | THE JORGENSON FAMILY JUNE 4TH 2011 "The Jorgensen’s baptism was great! We started the baptism service with ordaining Brother Jorgenson to a priest. Then we watched him baptize three of his children. It was really spiritual. While we waited for them to change, we had a short testimony meeting. It was one of the most spiritual testimony meetings that I have ever witnessed. Great experience." Elder Dillon Martin
31: Elder Martin and Elder Pace Highland Stake / Pocatello ID June 27th - Nov 1st

37: Elder Martin and Elder Pace with Suzy - September 17th 2011 Suzy's Baptism was awesome!!! She was really nervous a couple of days before the baptism but she held on. It has been so cool to be a part of her change of heart. Suzy has truly repented. She bore her testimony at the end of the baptismal service and it was powerful.
42: "Becoming" is the process of our everyday lives. We all make choices everyday that will either bring us closer to "Becoming" the eternal being that our Heavenly Father wants us to be or push us farther away. I feel that as you look at everything from that perspective our choices are easier. Everything in life is black and white. There is no gray area in the gospel. But we all make mistakes. Our days are full of rash decisions and foolish thoughts and words. That is where repentance comes in. Repentance needs to be a part of our everyday lives. Before my mission I looked at repentance as some huge thing. But, in reality it isn't. It is the process of "Becoming" more like our Savior. It is the way that we can take full advantage of the atonement. It is the way that we can find and have the happiness that we all desire. I promise all of you that as you look at life with this perspective you will be happier. You will feel the Holy Ghost more in your lives. You will feel free from the everyday troubles that beset you. You will live the life that your Father in Heaven wants you to live. You will "Become" the eternal being that you are destined to be. Life is a battle. Fight a Good Fight! It was so moving. We also had some really, really spiritual lessons. Our lessons with Devin before she was baptized have been incredible. She has truly felt the healing power of the Atonement. 54: January 7, 2012 This week has been awesome. Mason was baptized on Saturday! There were over 100 people at the baptism service! It was one of the most spiritual baptisms I have ever gone to. Mason is a guy that I will keep in contact with my whole life! He is such a champ! He is a senior in high school and is hopefully going to serve a mission. Elder Dillon Martin | Elder Martin, Mason, Elder Roberts
55: This week has been great! One of our investigators, Jeremy Cunningham, got baptized this Saturday at 2:00p.m.! It was a great service! I had the wonderful opportunity to baptize him. Jeremy has been taught by many different missionaries for over 5 years and has finely decided to join the church. He has changed a lot from the time that I first met him. When I got into the area my companion just viewed him as an “eternagator” (eternal investigator). We have had some great experiences with him though. As we boldly testified of the blessings that the gospel would bring, he began to change. He began to experiment upon the word as taught in Alma 32:27. He has been taking his children to church for awhile and knows that it will bless both him and his family. We have come far together and have enjoyed the journey. Elder Dillon Martin | February 4, 2012
57: Linda Christy May 5 2012 William Karn | Elder Rosa: Pocatello, YSA 1st stake , Poctello Central Stake April 9th - Aug 23rd | What a great week! Both Bill and Linda got baptized on Saturday! It's something special to see someone that you love so much make eternal covenants. It's a long road from when you first meet them. You meet them for the first time and small miracles begin to happen. You testify of the healing power of the Atonement and how it has changed your life and they feel the spirit whisper to them that what you are saying is true. You then set up appointments and discuss with them how the Lord loves them and how He is their literal father. As a result of this great love that The Father has for us, He has once again restored His church to the earth. Tears then come as you share some of the most precious knowledge that you posses. As this process continues and you pour out your whole heart to our Father in Heaven for them. You plead for there lives as if you have never had your own. Through this journey a relationship is formed that is so sacred and unique that only those who have been on a mission can truly understand. I love being a missionary.
58: Benjamin Hawker May 9th 2012 | Jerry Fergison May 11th 2012
59: Brandi Lott July 7th 2012 This week has been great! Brandy was baptized on Saturday!!! It was a great service. The Relief Society had a dinner before the baptism and we had a good turnout. Brandy is such a great girl. We have had some great experiences with her. She knows how to live the gospel to the fullest. We have taught about repentance almost every lesson. She has felt the power of the atonement in her life. It has been great to be a part of her journey to baptism. | President and Sister Colton, Elder Martin, Elder Rosa, President and Sister Brinkerhoff
60: We set two more baptism dates this week as well! Kylie plays soccer for ISU and has a friend that is a member. Her friend, Rachel, told her about how she received a blessing from her friend and as a result of the blessing she felt peace in her busy life. Kylie replied that she wanted a blessing too! She got a blessing and after she agreed to meet with the missionaries. That's where we come in. We had a powerful lesson about how Christ can relieve us of our pain and sorrow as we fallow Him. She felt the spirit and accepted the invitation to be baptized on July 28th. | Kiley Godfrey July 28, 2012
62: Justin Lineberry August 4, 2012 | Justin, another person that we set a baptism date with, he is really cool. He just graduated from high school and will be leaving to go to school in Boise at the end of August. He is dating a great member of the church. They both came to church last week and we talked to them and asked if we could come talk to them latter in the week. At first he was really hesitant, but as we continued to talk he felt comfortable and gave us his contact information. We got to know him and asked him how he had liked coming to church. He explained that he had a lot of LDS friends and he felt comfortable there. We talked about why we were there and how the gospel had changed our lives forever. The spirit was very present as we all bore our testimonies. We invited him to "experiment upon the word" and prepare to be baptized. He agreed :) He is preparing for the 4th of August.
64: Shantae Raatz August 11 2012 Shantae was baptized this last Saturday the 11th. Her Mom and siblings have come back to church and they are doing great!

68: Elder Scott D. Whiting from the first quorum of the 70 came to tour our mission. It was great to be around him and get to know him. We held two separate meetings where President Brinkerhoff and Elder Whiting trained the whole mission. One was in Pocatello and the other was in Idaho Falls. After the meeting in Idaho Falls he asked if we could hold a Zone leader council with him. During the meeting with the main leaders of the mission he taught us a great lesson about forgetting ourselves. It was great to hear that training because it has been something that I have been studying for my entire mission. I really want to finish my mission doing as much good as I can. I want to completely loose myself, and thanks to Elder Whiting's training, I know how I can do it. He taught us from the scriptures about Christ and showed us how much Christ cared for those around Him. He invited all of us to loose ourselves so that we can look back on our mission and see that we have found ourselves. After the meeting Elder Whiting asked if he could have a brief interview with me. It was a very special experience. He told me many things, but one central thing that he talked to me about was that he was an assistant on his mission and had the opportunity to help a new mission President transition into the field. He told me that I had fulfilled my assignment well. I can't explain the gratitude that I felt. I knew that the Lord was pleased with my service and sacrifice. I knew that I had done what I was called to do.
69: Elder Sweeten American Falls Oct 2012 - Nov 2012
71: OCTOBER 27, 2012 Barbra is a lady that Elder Vela and I had taught that has experienced a mighty change of heart. She is a great Native American woman that has had a hard life filled with a life style that many on the reservation deal with.. All of our fist attempts to teach her failed. She would set up appointments and not be home or give us excuses. But one day our persistence payed off, she let us inside and we taught a powerful lesson. She felt the spirit so strongly that she always wanted to have it be apart of her life. She wanted to be born again. To have a fresh start, a new life. That is what the gospel brings. Her and her unborn child will have the restored gospel to lift and support them for the rest of there lives. After she was baptized she had a glow that was contagious. The church is true. | Ian Young September 29, 2012 We had a baptism! Ian got baptized this last Saturday. It was a very good service with many ward members coming to support the recently activated family.
73: "I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith." 2 Timothy 4:7 | It is hard to believe that this will be the last email that I will send. At this time next week I will be in Arizona. It's hard for me to come to that reality. Two years..... I can't believe that it has been that long. I don't know if I will ever be able to properly express the way that I feel. I feel so blessed, so grateful for all of the experiences that I have had. My mission is apart of who I am, and to think that it's over is scary. I have loved serving the people of Idaho. I have loved inviting others to come unto Christ. My converts and less active families that I have helped bring into the Gospel will always be apart of who I am. I will never forget all that I have learned and gone through here. When I return to AZ my assignment will only slightly change. I will no longer have the opportunity to serve as a full time missionary, but I will still be a missionary. I will always be a missionary. I will always seek to be an instrument in the Lords hands. I know that if I give my whole soul to Him, if I choose to place myself in those masterful loving hands, He will make of me more that I can ever make of myself. I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints is Gods true, restored church on the earth. I know that Christ is at the head. He leads and guides us. I have felt His influence over and over again. I have witnessed for myself the redeeming power of the atonement change peoples lives forever. I have been a part of that process as I have been a part of missionary work, I feel that I have gained more that I can ever give. I will always be indebted to my Master, my Savior, my King. I have served with all my might, mind, and strength. I welcome the opportunity to stand before my Maker and give an accounting for what I have done these last two years. I know He will have no problem recognizing me as one of His own. I have Fought a Good Fight.
