FC: Pictures In Time | For My Love, Barbara
To Barbara, my wife, best friend, lover, and confidant. You're the first person I want to tell "how my day was". We laugh and cry together. We have had good times and difficult. When one is down, the other is there to support and lend a shoulder. Regardless, we always seem to end up as one! Read, remember and enjoy. With all my love, Michael

...Love! | With a bowl of Deep Kettle House Chili | I found out over time, if you mix these all together (spilled salad and all), you end up with a recipe for...
30th Birthday Celebrations | The first tear I shed in front of you was when we were at the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway for your 30th birthday. We spent hours in the snow making snow angels, snowmen and writing our names. We took many pictures and as we left, you noticed something wrong with the camera. This is when you realized this new guy you decided to date had no clue how to load your camera with film... I felt like I ruined your whole birthday. We rushed to buy a roll of film (YOU loaded it), and we ran back to all the same places and did it all over again before it got dark. You were such a good sport.
Later that year, you surprised me with a "special" gift wrapping of my truck in the parking lot at work for my 30th. I seemed to remember returning that favor the next year...
We were dating for some time when we decided to take a trip to Yosemite and then Monterey Bay. Back when staying fit, was part of the dating game...
Roughing it in Yosemite National Park under the stars. We biked the valley and decided to leave a bit early when the rain started...
We rode our bikes along the trail and ate lunch at ElTorito in Monterey. On the way back, I asked you to stop for a moment and take a rest. Then on one knee I dropped and asked for your hand... You said "Yes" (thank goodness) Then, the clouds parted for a moment to allow a rainbow to form and send the message to the heavens.
It seemed to be carried on the wings of the bird we saw when we snapped this picture.

The Special Mother Most women become mothers by accident, some by choice, a few by social pressure and a couple by habit. This year, nearly 100,000 women will become mothers of handicapped children. Did you ever wonder how mothers of handicapped children are chosen? Somehow I visualize God hovering over Earth selecting his instruments for propagation with great care and deliberation. As He observes, He instructs His angels to make notes in a giant ledger. "Armstrong, Beth; son. Patron saint, Matthew." "Forrest, Marjorie; daughter. Patron saint, Cecilia." "Rutledge, Carrie; twins. Patron saint...Give her Gerard...He's used to profanity." Finally, He passes a name to an angel and smiles, "Give her a handicapped child." The angel is curious. "Why this one God? She's so happy." "Exactly," smiles God, "Could I give a handicapped child to a mother who does not know laughter? That would be cruel." "But has she patience?" asks the angel. "I don't want her to have too much patience or she will drown in a sea of self-pity and despair. Once the shock and resentment wears off, she'll handle it." "I watched her today. She has that sense of self and independence that is so rare and so necessary in her world and that's not going to be easy." "But Lord, I don't think she even believes in you." God smiles, "No matter, I can fix that. This ones perfect - she has just enough selfishness." The angel gasps - "Selfishness? Is that a virtue?" God nods. "If she can't separate herself from the child occasionally, she'll never survive. Yes, here is a woman whom I will bless with a child who has challenges ahead. She doesn't realize it yet, but she is to be envied." "She will never take for granted a "spoken word". She will never consider a "step" ordinary. When her child says "Momma" for the first time, she will see it as few people ever see My creations!" "I will permit her to see clearly the things I see...ignorance, cruelty, prejudice ...and allow her to rise above them. She will never be alone. I will be at her side every minute of every day of her life, because she is doing My work as surely as if she is here by My side." "And what about her Patron saint?" asks the angel, his pen poised in mid-air. God smiles, "A mirror will suffice."
