FC: 2011-A YEAR IN REVIEW
1: Jill Cutsinger and Andrea Weihe--friends from NPC Project Services are also at the game. | A game at the new KFC YUM Center with Anne & Kevin Blair.
2: Alpha Xi Delta sorority sisters from UK get together.
3: In January, college sorority sisters, Beth Bacigalupo, Diane Bennett, and I meet up in Lexington for a girls' weekend. (First get together w/Di in 35 years.) | Beth and I shop and we visit a winery while Diane works.
4: "Families are like fudge ... mostly sweet with a few nuts." | Meagan and a friend are pictured in the Courier-Journal online. Meagan and Deven brought in the New Year. | Meagan makes the Fall City Facebook page for trying their new brew at work, BW3s.

6: PUERTO RICO | First night in Arecibo, we eat at Salitre down the road from "our" house. Next day, we cross the road to the beach. Fun until the storm clouds head in.
7: Day 2, a trip to theArecibo Observatory where two movies have been filmed. The cylinder below is the size of 27 football fields and requires these special boots when crossing it.
8: After a boat ride to a restaurant on the lake, we spend our last day at Arecibo in the water. Next, on to Old San Juan for more sightseeing.
9: Our first stop after we step off the ferry, is the Cristobal Castle in Old San Juan. Charlie, Mike & JoAnne enjoy the views.
11: As we leave El Morro Fort and Old San Juan, we head to our final destination, Luquillo, PR, where we plan to relax at our hotel by the sea and visit El Yungee Rainforest.
12: El Yunque Rainforest is a beautiful site. Home to the Puerto Rican Parrot and unusual frogs whose sounds of "CoQui" can be heard throughout. Of course, the rains drenched us.
13: Our last day in Puerto Rico.

15: MAKING MEMORIES | It's Kevin's birthday, 3/1/11, so the family heads to Lexington to celebrate and enjoy a dinner at Malone's. | Kevin's place-full of music, a full keyboard and previously electric drums.
16: Chrisman Mill's luncheon with Anne & Kevin Blair - our first wine stop in 2011. Next, a trip to Lover's Leap Winery for music and tasting.
17: A stop at Smith-Berry Winery for a tasting then on to Elk Creek Winery for the Embers concert with Tim & Susie Wood.
18: Sandy Jaggers Barry and I at Hillbilly Tea. | NPC work buddies-Becky Syme, Dana Willis, Val Cline, and Carol Thompson at Bearnos. | School friends-Bonnie Kidd Esterle Brenda Mosley Campbell, Vickie Kohlhorst Seward and Jenny Ratliff Padgett.
19: JoAnne and Meghan McMahon drop by for a visit while Meghan's in town. | Joan Riddell, me, Goldie Hawn, Anne Blair and Anne Schmitt have pictures made with Goldie after "An Evening with Goldie" and her talk on Happiness.
20: Dad turns 90 years old. Susie and Stuart join us in celebrating at Signature East Nursing Home. April 11, 2011
21: happy | Dad is very well liked by all at the nursing home...he is always hanging out by the nurse' station, entertaining them. | July..
22: Meagan brings Dutch an Easter basket with what...ah, the prized Charmin toilet paper...a favorite of them both. | Kevin entertains with a little piano music. | Games like Scattergories are always enjoyed. | Easter at Susie's.
23: Spring Time--a family photo op. | A demo of the infamous Eggstractor--the tool to remove shells from hardboiled eggs--is good for some laughs.
24: Schyler McNeil and Abby's wedding. Karen and Mike after the ceremony. Charlie & I enjoy the reception with the Andersons--Michael, Melanie, Dolly & Donnie.
25: Memorial Day picnic with the family at Keith & Deven's--Mom, Charlie, Kevin, Susie, Stuart, Deanna & Everett join Chubbs, Keith & Deven at their home.
26: Charlie & I go to the Senior PGA tournament at Valhalla. Local Ted Schultz and KY-born Kenny Perry are playing.
27: We follow Charlie's favorite player, Tom Watson, through several practice holes.
28: Jeff, Sandy, Alex & Colby visit in June, and we take in a Louisville Bats game. Afterwards, treats at Homemade Pie & Ice Cream Kitchen.
29: Jeff & family are off in the good seats, but unfortunately, the Bats lose the game. Still, fun is had by all during and after the game. | 2010 Family photo & Colby's karate match
30: One of our outings is to the Louisville Zoo. We visit a few animals, then Kevin and Jeff's gang decide to do the rope climbing maze.

34: 4th of July picnic | Mom's 91st birthday is July 3. Susie has a July 2 birthday. Keith & Deven surprise Mom with Peanuts, the Jeff Dunham puppet she loves.
35: The whole Blaufuss clan makes it-Danny,Linda, Todd, Amy, Beth and boyfriend, Charlie.
36: A visit to Kathy & Vernon's house for pizza during Rachel & Bill and David's trip to Louisville brings exciting news--Melanie is engaged to Tim. Later, a family picnic at Browns Park also celebrates their visit. | CELEBRATE!
39: MICHIGAN-Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City & Glen Arbor | JoAnne McMahon and I take another "Thelma & Louise" trip to the Cherry Festival in Traverse, Michigan...and of course take several side trips along the way.
41: Pretty cherry trees, restaurants on the water in Saugatuck, wineries across the area, the Old Mission Peninsula, a barn trail, a park on the lake with stairs up the trail--lovely sites along the way.
42: We continue the trip with stops at more wineries, views of the Barn Quilt Trail, and stops at orchards for our our fresh cherries (pitted on the spot) and then on to Mt. Vernon, Ohio for a brief visit with JoAnne's mother.
44: Before the 2011-2012 school year begins, Kevin moves from his Broadway apartment to a spot closer to UK on Woodland Avenue. | 201 Woodland, Apt.12 | 820 S. Broadway
45: Our home...spring flowers and crepe myrtles.
46: In July, we made our annual trek to a state park, Barren River, with Mike and JoAnne McMahon for a little boating, tubing & golfing.
47: Meagan played softball in the summer with some friends from BW3 out at Tom Sawyer Park.
49: Later in July, we took a family mini vacation at Barren River State Park. On the way down, we stopped near Cave City for Charlie and Kevin to do some ziplining through the woods.
50: Charlie retires 8/31/11. The guys from Lou. Metro-IPL, Building & Housing Inspectors take him to lunch. Friend, David, makes a poster of all the tags used by the dept.
51: We have a little party with the neighbors & Meagan to celebrate...champagne tonight, but going forward, a relaxing cup of coffee every morning. | ON THE DECK
52: In Sept., 2011, we head out with Mike & JoAnne for the Outer Banks, NC. We stayed in Corolla and took the wild horse tour. | Shenandoah Valley overlook in VA. | The Summer House | Our bedroom with sitting area | Two porches | Beach deck | 3rd floor BR-ocean-view
53: Wild horse tour--must stay 50 ft. from them. Former Coast Guard Station provides shelter. | Miss Caroline-named for house where born | Jack Jack (half mule) the local stud | Mare with colt from Jack.
54: Lighthouses--Bodie Island and Currituck and Roanoke Marshes. | Mike attends ? a special university in Roanoke.
55: We climb the Currituck Lighthouse and visit the Elizabethan Gardens..all beautiful sites. | Whalehead Club | A view from the top...
56: Shelton Vineyards in NC is a stop for winery touring, tasting & lunch. Interesting notes: rosebushes at end of rows help catch diseases before they hit the grapes. Also, old barrels can be bought once the 5-year fermention period is complete.
57: Andy Griffith and Barney Fife's - Mayberry Courthouse, jail, Wally's service station, and Rafe Hollister's truck were all sites seen in Mt. Airy, NC (birthplace of Andy Griffith). And it was Mayberry USA Day during our visit..
58: Asheville, NC--a very artistic community. At the GROVE PARK INN, metal sculptures, like the cow, wind forest trees, and other works of art are displayed in the garden area. | Gigantic fireplace
59: Feather tiles on the Urban Walking Trail represent street actors, sculptures, O'Henry's Gift of the Magi, Thomas Hardy's Look Homeward Angel
60: GO CARDS!!! The 2011 Louisville Cardinals have a tough time, but we all enjoy our tailgating. YE, Cards head to the Belk Bowl in Charlotte, NC.
61: Meagans t-shirt quilt is finally complete. | I used shirts from her day-care days to college days.
62: A tour of Lovers Leap Winery given by owner, Logan, followed by wine tasting with Tonya. Then lunch at Wallace Station with Mike & JoAnne.
63: Late October, Charlie, Mom, Meagan and I take a drive and walk through Bernheim Forest before eating hot browns at Talbott Tavern in Bardstown. Lovely day!! | "Belinda Bob", Billy's sister??
64: The 2nd Annual Steeplechase Badminton Tournament--11/6/11 | Joan & Tom Riddell, Susie & Tim Wood and Tom Schmitt join us.
65: Champions Susie and Charlie receive their trophies as winners for 2011. Congratulations!!! | Oops! Tim tries to wrestle Charlie for the trophy??
66: ASPEN HALL MANOR, a B & B in Harrodsburg, KY November, 2011 | Charlie and I visited the Bourbon Trail, Talon Winery and Fort Harrod.
68: Four Roses-a smaller operation than Wild Turkey. Don was the tour guide and provided us our tastings.
69: Wild Turkey's tour- fermentation vats-Days 1, 2, & 3, a picture of the coils for cooling vats. Then a replica of the original buildings, filling the barrels, & tasting of their various labels.
70: WOODFORD RESERVE DISTILLERY, owned by Brown & Foreman, completes only 19-20 barrels a day compared to the Wild Turkey's 560 barrels a day.
71: Bourbon has several requirements to be labeled such--must be made in US, must be at least 51% corn (then rye, barley), must be stored in white oak barrels that cannot be re-used.
73: A Day to Give Thanks | Family lines up dinner, then later games and silly play. Traditional oyster dressing and lemon meringue pies--YUMMY!
