BC: He has crossed over from death to life. John 5:24b

FC: Caring Bridge | July 8-23, 2011

1: Our story begins on July 8, 2011. After thinking Harlan had the flu for two days and deciding that something else was going on we took him to the local ER. Later that evening they transferred him to the Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. After two days of testing they diagnosed him with MRSA, which is a blood infection that turned septic. Complications that have come with that are: congestive heart failure, kidney damage and pneumonia. One of the biggest concerns for Harlan is his mechanical heart valve that he had put in 20 years ago and that the MRSA may attack this valve.

2: Sunday, July 17, 2011 10:36 PM A week of testing has gone by with many ups and downs and there are still so many unknowns. Harlan's kidneys are functioning better than they were but not at 100% yet, the extent of damage done is unsure. Yesterday he had a great morning with a walk in the halls, but by dinner time his heart rate dropped down between 20-33 bpm. They put in a temporary pace maker to regulate his heart rate. He now has to lay flat and not move, which is very uncomfortable for him. Today they turned down the pace maker to see how his heart would do on its own. With an EKG done during this time it was discovered that the top of his heart is working but the bottom is not. The pace maker was again set to regulate his heart. Another test will be done on his heart tomorrow to determine if the infection has attacked the heart. He is still fighting pneumonia along with fever and chills. Harlan is termed critical right now so we ask that visits are kept short. As I, Andrea, pulled up to the Heart Hospital today the song “Blessings” by Laura Story came on the radio. Talking with my Mom she also said this song came to mind a lot this past week. We have to believe that blessings will come from all of this. We pray for blessings, we pray for peace Comfort for family, protection while we sleep We pray for healing, for prosperity We pray for Your mighty hand to ease our suffering All the while, You hear each spoken need Yet love us way too much to give us lesser things Cause what if Your blessings come through raindrops? What if Your healing comes through tears What if a thousand sleepless nights Are what it takes to know You’re near? What if trials of this life Are Your mercies in disguise? | Journal

3: Monday, July 18, 2011 10:13 PM Today has been a hard day with tests and results that shocked and scared us all. Harlan’s mechanical aortic valve is infected. The infection has attacked the valve itself and is destroying the tissue around it. The only way to treat this is to replace the valve and remove all the infected tissue. He is not able to get another mechanical valve as this would just get attacked by the MRSA again. His blood is not showing any more MRSA in it, which is a positive, but the doctor said that it is hiding somewhere in his body and can come out again. The doctors are thinking he will be a candidate of the Ross Procedure, which is a very complicated surgery and is only done by very few doctors. In this procedure they would take his pulmonary valve and use that to replace his mechanical aortic valve. They would then put a pig valve in the place of his pulmonary valve. If this is the route chosen then he will need to have this done at the Mayo clinic, in Rochester, MN. We will find out more tomorrow as to how soon they would like him to have the surgery. The kidney and infectious disease doctors would like to hold off with the surgery and allow him more time on the antibiotics. However the cardiologist would like to see the surgery done soon. He still is on the temporary pace maker and will need to stay on that until surgery. Even though it’s been a hard day we cling to Psalm 62:5: HE alone is my rock and my salvation. My fortress where I will not be shaken. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 1:22 PM Dad was able to get a good nights sleep last night! The dietitian came to talk with him this morning. He has not had any appetite since getting sick and has eaten very little so they now started giving him a protein shake. The doctors should be talking today to discuss when he should have the surgery. We are waiting to hear more on that. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 5:19 PM Harlan has moved to room 210. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 9:00 PM Another long, hard day of waiting for doctors...waiting for answers...Harlan has been struggling with chest pains, due to the pneumonia, and laying flat on his back since Saturday afternoon. He will need to continue laying flat until the weekend when they will put another temporary pacemaker in his chest. We cannot do a permanent pacemaker until after the heart surgery. The cardiologist wants to see him on IV antibiotics for 4 weeks before the surgery...not sure the surgeon will agree...I was so hoping to see him today...after keeping vigil in his room all day, we saw three of the five prayer is "Please, Lord, help them figure this out...he seems to be fading before my eyes..." We have been so blessed by all your beautiful words of encouragement! I thank God for you! Marilyn

4: Wednesday, July 20, 2011 6:06 AM It has been a long, miserable night for Harlan. I was called at 4:30 to come in since he was so restless. The pain of laying flat has become unbearable. They have given him lots of drugs, including morphine, but, nothing helps. His cardiologist was just in. They will hopefully, get the pacemaker put in his upper chest so he can get off his back today. He will be calling Mayo to see if the Ross procedure is even an option for Harlan. If not, surgery will be done here. The pulmonologist also just in-not much change yet in his lungs. We are walking thru the valley of the shadow of death...scary, but, we know God is faithful...HE will never leave us... Marilyn Wednesday, July 20, 2011 7:48 AM WOW! We just saw another cardiologist! And it's not even 8:00 yet! They will be putting the pacemaker in at 8:30am!!!!! Yeah! We had a feisty nurse last night that really advocated for Harlan...blessing! He said we are in a dangerous situation...not sure what the abscess on his heart is doing, but, as it was growing while he was on 4 antibiotics, we can assume it still is not under control. He will be in contact with Mayo, and if they feel they can operate, we will be heading up there ASAP. After a day of frustrating waiting, I am now feeling like I am not ready for this. Pray that Mayo can do this surgery...we are running out of options... Marilyn | Wednesday, July 20, 2011 7:30 PM After much waiting we have finally gotten a decision from the doctor. Harlan will be transferred to Rochester tonight. They are planning for surgery on his heart tomorrow. They will not be doing the Ross Procedure as we thought before. They have a different kind of valve they would like to use in place of the infected mechanical aortic valve. We will post more when we know it. Dr. Vonk said, "Quite frankly, this will take a miracle... Thank you all for your love, prayer and support. We love and appreciate it. Wednesday, July 20, 2011 11:57 PM We are at St. Mary's Hospital. The Care Flight went well, Harlan very tired-just wants to be left alone!!!! After being told by Dr. Vonk that they would do surgery on Thursday, I found out differently when we got here. The surgeons won't be in until the AM, and will decide then. This is an amazing place! I know the prayers of God's people are carrying us now, I was so at peace during the flight... Marilyn

5: Thursday, July 21, 2011 10:03 AM What an amazing place! And what a blessing to live within hours of the best medical care in the world! Many tests and many doctors are on the scene! It was determined that pieces of the abcess around Harlan's heart have been breaking off. One clot has gone to his finger, and they found another clot in his brain. So, a very large concern is that one may break off and cause a stroke. Surgery will happen quickly, depending on the surgeon. They are getting the best surgeon here, because we need the best right now. The cardiologist after looking at the TEE stated his infection couldn't get worse. The actual procedure will consist of removing the valve and infected tissue. It will be replaced with tissue from a cadaver and a pig valve. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God" and the peace of God which transcends ALL understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 Thursday, July 21, 2011 7:15 PM After very little sleep and a very big scare it has been quite a day...Harlan gave us all quite a scare this afternoon when his blood pressure dropped, breathing increased, and he began shaking badly. Suddenly, there were 11 various doctors and nurses working, family and friends praying, crying, watching...we found out later that it was a burst of the toxins around his heart that had caused it. The surgeon would like to wait until possibly next Tuesday to do the surgery. The cardiologist felt it needed to be done ASAP. They will talk in the morning...we continue to watch and pray... Marilyn

6: Friday, July 22, 2011 9:56 AM After a visit from the surgeon this morning, we have been told that the surgery will be done Monday. This will allow for a couple more days of antibiotics. His white blood cell count has gone down some so they feel the new antibiotic they started yesterday is effective. Waiting will also give them more time to get his INR level ("thickness" of his blood) to a safer level for surgery. We are waiting to hear if they want to do an angiogram this morning. Dad experienced another episode, much like yesterday's episode, last night. His blood pressure did not drop, but he complained of a heaviness on his chest in addition to the excessive shaking. With concerns of a blockage, they may do an angiogram to determine if he will need to have a bypass done during his valve replacement surgery on Monday. We are also waiting on lab/EKG results to find out if Dad experienced a minor heart attack last night. Waiting, waiting, waiting. We were reminded yesterday that all this waiting stinks, but it gives us time to pray. It gives us time with Dad. It gives Dad's body time to get rid of the infection. Thank you for all the prayers and encouragement through your posts in the guestbook. It is truly appreciated! Tomorrow, July 23, is Dad's 57th birthday. Please take a moment to send him a wish in the guestbook. We are reading all your posts to him and he is comforted by the support. Erica Friday, July 22, 2011 3:14 PM Dad's heart has been beating on its own all day and not relying on the pace maker! Dad was just taken for an angiogram. This is a test to check for blockages in the heart. Please pray for safety during the surgery. He is anxiously awaiting a long drink of water after having to fast since this morning for this test.

7: Friday, July 22, 2011 4:49 PM Dad is back in his room and resting after the angiogram. He does not have any blockage but the infection is pushing against an artery and narrowing it. This caused a minor heart attack last night. There is concern that it could happen again. His doctor visited with the surgeon again to see if the surgery should be moved forward, but as of now we are still looking at Monday for surgery. We'll find out Sunday night what time his surgery will be. We know that we'll have to be here, at the earliest, by 6:15 a.m. He'll be in surgery for 4-6 hours. He is then looking at being in the hospital for 7-10 days, another six weeks of IV antibiotics (done on an outpatient basis at hospital back home) and no lifting for 3 months. Be assured that through all the stress and sickness, he is still the same ol' Harlan. While visiting with the assistant heart surgeon, he requested a cold beer. :) He hasn't lost his sense of humor (thankfully, his doctor has a good sense of humor as well). His mouth and throat are incredibly dry so it is adding to his frustration. Hopefully soon he can at least have his long drink of cold water and "lots" of ice cream, per his request. Pray for a very boring weekend! No more complications would be a blessing. Prayers of thanksgiving that his latest labs revealed that his kidney function is still improving and his blood cultures are still negative (meaning the MRSA is not in his blood stream causing damage to everything it flows through). Praise God! Andrea and Erica Friday, July 22, 2011 10:40 PM Prayers needed! Harlan is struggling-chestpain again, can't breathe, heart rate too high, blood pressure too low...if this continues, emergency surgery will be needed...we don't want that...I'm so scared...Marilyn Saturday, July 23, 2011 12:31 AM We continue to watch and wait...I can no longer stand being in the room with breaks me up seeing him struggle to breathe...for now, the blood pressure is acceptable and the heart rate has slowed. He struggles to rest peacefully because his breathing is labored. Marilyn Saturday, July 23, 2011 2:15 AM Due to Dad's labored breathing they have intubated (breathing tube). He has a high fever which they have been unable to break so they feel the MRSA may be back in his blood stream. We will know for sure after the cultures are back in a couple days. More damage may have been done to his heart. This may be due to progression of the abcess on his aortic valve. His cardiac team is advocating to do the surgery sooner. It is ultimately up to the surgeon to move it up or leave it on Monday. Thank you prayer warriors. Rest. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

8: Saturday, July 23, 2011 6:26 AM If you are thinking of visiting today please hold off. Saturday, July 23, 2011 11:10 AM Dad received the best birthday present ever today....his seat at the banquet table with Jesus. "And the day of death is better than the day of birth" Ecclesiastes 7:1b Dad passed away around 3:40am today. While our hearts are broken we rejoice with the knowledge that he is experiencing no more pain, no more confusion & no longer has a body consumed by infection. His last few weeks on earth were filled with trials, but he has "fought the good fight & has won the race." 2 Timothy 4:7 Thank you prayer warriors - your support was constantly felt. We covet your prayers in the difficult time ahead as we adjust to life without him. Our apologies for not posting this earlier. We had hoped to get home to tell his grandkids & family before sharing with everyone else. God is still good. Marilyn, Erica, Briana, Derick, Andrea and families

Ed & Leah (Van Den Top) De Jong | Wednesday, July 20, 2011 2:32 PM To Derick and Family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all in this time period. In a recent tragic 'accident' our family we found Psalm 4 comforting. 1 Answer me when I call to you, my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; have mercy on me and hear my prayer. 2 How long will you people turn my glory into shame How long will you love delusions and seek false gods 3 Know that the LORD has set apart his faithful servant for himself; the LORD hears when I call to him. 4 Tremble and do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. 5 Offer the sacrifices of the righteous and trust in the LORD. 6 Many, LORD, are asking, “Who will bring us prosperity?” Let the light of your face shine on us. 7 Fill my heart with joy when their grain and new wine abound. 8 In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, LORD, make me dwell in safety. Even when we question if God is hearing our prayers (vs1) and our struggling with our thoughts (vs4) He works in us to bring us joy and peace with his will(vs7-8). May the Lord continue to bless you! Trusting in the Father, hearts are fully blest, finding, as he promised, perfect peace and rest. Hidden in the hollow of his mighty hand, where no harm can follow in his strength we stand. 34: Friday, July 22, 2011 10:50 AM Waiting. That was theme of today's post. Oh, I am a terrible waiter. Good thing God has everything timed out, Harlan. How He loves you. In the waiting, I will praise Him for your beautiful, sacrificial, unselfish life. I will praise Him for Jesus, your Savior, my Savior. In the waiting I will continue to call upon Him for your healing. You are loved, dear friend. Ruth Landegent Friday, July 22, 2011 10:51 AM The "waiting room" is one of the hardest places to be in life. I agree that letting the antibiotic work longer is a good idea. I pray that the doctors will find all the problems of the heart and know how to help you Harlan. God is the great physician. You're still here and that is good news. I check for updates regularly and then tell Ken. We've been praying for you constantly. I know you could have a happier 57th birthday, but you probably won't have a more memorable one. God Bless and Heal you.We love you. Barb Addink Friday, July 22, 2011 10:51 AM Erica--What a great reminder for all of us that all things are on HIS time and not ours. Harlan, be strong and know that you have the love of your family and friends and the prayers of all who know you. We love you all! John, Darcy, Campbell and Will Valline Friday, July 22, 2011 10:55 AM Rumbles of thunder rolling through Sioux Center now as I write.....Continuing to pray, pray, pray.... Thank you Andrea and Marilyn for the updates, as often as you are able. I know it has to be so difficult for all of you to WAIT for news, WAIT for decisions, etc. On this end too we all crave to hear again, thank you so much for keeping us informed. Be assured, the prayers will continue in a mighty fashion. I have to tell you this little story about when I first got to know Harlan. I don't recall what we were at, AWANA, or some function at church....I was sitting next to you | Harlan, and I was going crazy trying to figure out what that clicking noise was...coming from you...finally I asked and you told me it was your heart valve! I was fascinated and you told me all about it. In all my medical doings I guess I had never met anyone who had a mechanical valve. It is a fond memory. Whether you click or not I just offer up a prayer for healing and restoration. You hang in there my dear friend, and all the family too. HE will see you through this situation. One of the prayer warriors.... Gail Andringa Friday, July 22, 2011 11:43 AM Dear Harlan and your whole family, This morning I am thinking about all of you and praying for you..... In the book of Philippians, Paul has some words he says about being in prison that I wanted to share. Now, I know being in the hospital is not the same as being in prison...( well, maybe Harlan you are thinking it has its similarities) , (smiley face).......but I loved these words..... Philippians 1:12 " Now I want you to know, brothers, that what has happened to me has really served to advance the gospel." Harlan, because of your illness, a whole huge group of believers have gathered together at St. Mary's Hospital. You are all being quite the witness for The Lord there , "missionaries spreading The Gospel." There are many non believers watching. As you lay there in bed waiting and waiting and struggling.....know that The Lord is using all of this for His purposes. Mark and I can't wait to see you guys again....... For now, we are standing along side you, praying, in CA. We love you , Barby and Mark | Friday, July 22, 2011 12:04 PM Harlan and family...this is a prayer that I will be praying everyday for you. Father God You are the maker of all things. You are all powerful and all loving. You created the world and all things in it. You formed the majestic mountains and yet took time to paint the tiny dots on each lady bug. You thought of every detail and You care about every detail. You are our Counselor and the Almighty Physician and our Loving Father. Lord, in Psalms 139 it is written: "You formed our inward parts; You wove them in our mother's womb. We give thanks to You, for we are fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works Dear Lord." We humbly ask You tonight to be with Harlan as he goes through the night with all that lies ahead of him. We ask You Father to, please, once again form Harlan’s inward parts and weave them back together. Wonderful are Your works Dear Lord! Control all those little numbers and counts that most of us don't even know what they mean. Father God bless the doctors, nurses, and all other care givers that deal with all the needs of Harlan. Grant them steady hands, kind hearts, knowledge and wisdom, help them know when the time is right for all things, and also Dear Lord give them rest to face each new day. Lord God also be with the family of Harlan and grant them rest, peace, comfort, patience, and help them to continue to let their light shine through all this Dear Lord. Surround them, hold them, and keep a hedge of protection around them. All these things we humbly ask in Your precious Son's name. Through Christ Alone! Amen! Another prayer warrior! 36: Friday, July 22, 2011 12:06 PM Hey there Harlan!! (Marilyn & family too!) We so appreciated what Peter & Betsy said in their note this morning & because of that we are addressing our message directly to you, Harlan. You have been in our prayers since we 1st heard your body was not behaving right. :S We hope its OK to share some of things that have been coming to mind since we began praying for you. 1 - Harlan and Marilyn probably know more people - God fearing people - than anyone else we know. Therefore, 2 - there are COUNTLESS people pleading before the Throne on a continuous basis for you, Marilyn, your family, your Dr's & other experts working on your case. 3 - These aren't just people saying they are praying - they are effective, fervent, powerful prayer warriors that became that way because they (just like you or perhaps along side of you) have seen God's mighty hand perform many miracles, unexplainable acts & KNOW that "the Lord delights in the prayers of His people" (Pr 15:8 LB) & that "the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise him up" Jms 5:15. Someone in Doon, yesterday, said "I heard Harlan needs a miracle" and someone else said "well, isn't it wonderful he serves the very God who is in the miracle working business!" Love it!! What a testimony to you, your faith and your work for the kingdom! 4 - In light of that, it is very evident that your severe illness is having an impact on MANY people! We believe completely that incredible things are going to come from this(maybe have already)... some you and the rest of us may not know until heaven. And we know that you would say 'I don't care what I have to go through if just one person's faith/commitment is strengthened &/or if just one person comes to the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ through my experience'. Harlan, God honors your heart (no pun intended :)) and your unwavering love for Him. So we cling, on your behalf to verses like 1 Chr 16:9 "for the eyes of the Lord range throughout the earth to strengthen those whose hearts are fully committed to Him." And, Ps 33:18 "the eyes of the Lord are on those that fear Him, on those whose hope is in His UNFAILING love" We along with you and your family are trusting God in and with this whole difficult, pain filled, uncertain time. David says it so beautifully in Ps 62 "My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from Him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will NEVER be shaken." Knowing you are in His love and in His grip, Greg & Shar Dengler | Friday, July 22, 2011 12:10 PM Just dropping a note to let you know we are thinking about and praying for Harlan and your family. Let me know if you guys need something there in Rochester, I have connections that would love to help. Chad Robertson Friday, July 22, 2011 1:57 PM I'm going to be a day early (to make sure I don't end up being a day late!) HAPPY BIRTHDAY Harlan! It may not be where you want to be on your birthday, but our prayer is for your 58th birthday you'll be doing what you love (boating, camping, not sure what all your loves are....I'm guessing anything with your family is what you love!) Hope you can have a great day despite the circumstances. Your update talked about "waiting" you know, we've been really wrestling with the waiting/wondering/asking why type things lately too....a song that has really spoken to me is "Hold My Heart" by Tenth Avenue's the lyrics....hope it blesses all of you too...God is holding your heart.... How long must I pray, must I pray to You How long must I wait, must I wait for You How long 'till I see Your face See You shining through I'm on my knees Begging You to notice me I'm on my knees Father, will You turn to me, yeah? One tear in the dropping rain One voice in a sea of pain Could the Maker of the stars Hear the sound of my breaking heart? One life is all I am Right now I can barely stand If You're everything You say You are Would You come close and hold my heart?

37: I've been so afraid, afraid to close my eyes So much can slip away before I say goodbye But if there's no other way I'm done asking why 'Cause I'm on my knees Begging You to turn to me I'm on my knees Father, will You run to me, yeah? One tear in the dropping rain One voice in a sea of pain Could the Maker of the stars Hear the sound of my breaking heart? One life is all I am Right now I can barely stand If You're everything You say You are Would You come close and hold my heart? So many questions without answers Your promises remain I can't see but I'll take my chances To hear You call my name To hear You call my name One tear in the dropping rain One voice in a sea of pain Could the Maker of the stars Hear the sound of my breaking heart? One life is all I am Right now I can barely stand If You're everything You say You are Would You come close and hold my heart? Hold my heart Could You hold my heart? Hold my heart With love - Darcie Van Voorst and Family | Friday, July 22, 2011 2:09 PM Dear Harlan, I am praying for you many times a day, asking the Lord for your healing. 38: Friday, July 22, 2011 4:08 PM Uncle Harlan and family, You and your entire family have been in my prayers and on my heart continuously throughout these days. A song that I have been leaning on today is Everlasting God by Lincoln Brewster! It talks about how our strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord. I know waiting is not so fun but we are waiting for God and his plan and timing is perfect. This song is from Isaiah 40: 28-31 --- "He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless .. but those who trust in the Lord will find new strength and not grow weary" He is the defender of the weak and comforts those in need. That is my prayer for you all that you continue to lean on our Everlasting God during this time of waiting and feel his comforting presence!! Here is the link so hopefully you can take a moment to listen and it will touch your hearts and uplift you! :) He is our HOPE and STRONG DELIVERER!! Love, Amy, Curt and Caden Bowen Friday, July 22, 2011 4:45 PM Dearest Harlan & Marilyn, hello precious you! We are at peace with you. Our God reigns!!! These words are truth, and are everything, forever. In Him and through Him and for Him, each day. Including in a very special place where the housekeeper is as dedicated as the surgeons and their team, the nurses, the cooks who brought up room service for Rusty and Kasey.(order a slice of birthday cake! :) All those people are God's goodness. Whats up with that? That friendly face really must atrract women to make all those comments.I presume that the real reason is that they are better at that than us men.

I know the comfort and peace that comes from that assurance and knowledge even in the depths of sorrow. Harlan is an shining example of a man for whom "as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether in life or by death. For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:16) Over the years Harlan demonstrated God's presence in his life by giving of his time and talents to help others. I loved going camping with you guys - you were all so much fun to be around!! Harlan always had a smile and I can still hear his laugh whenever we went fishing or boating. 52: Friday, July 29, 2011 8:47 AM Marilyn & Family- What a beautiful Celebration of Life Service in honor of Harlan. Harlan was and will continue to be such an awesome example to the rest of us on what truly it means to be a Child of God! I can only hope to be a fraction of the person Harlan was. What a blessing to say that I knew him. My hope is that you will all wrap your arms around the wonderful memories of Harlan and know that some day you will be reunited and what a wonderful reunion that will be! Blessings to All of You! Dawn (Robertson) Whitley Sunday, July 31, 2011 4:54 PM Dear Marilyn and family, I am still "filled up" with the celebration service of Harlan. I am still in awe of the legacy he left. What if all Christians gathered each day to celebrate the joy of knowing Jesus the way we did at his celebration service? What is we all held hands and sang, "Bind us together" each day before we faced the troubles of the day? What if we all lived our lives to serve Christ and others and left a legacy like Harlan? Wouldn't it be a different world? Jan Bliek | Monday, July 25, 2011 8:18 AM Marilyn and family, I am so sorry to hear about your recent loss. The memories of him I will cherish always. He always had a tale to tell and always had a smile for you. I will also remember the laugh I heard when I was a little girl and all those candy bars that he bought. I am keeping you and your family in my prayers. Beth {Boogerd} Polacek Tuesday, July 26, 2011 12:34 AM Marilyn, This is Candise. I am the nurse that took care of Harlan the night before he was transferred to Mayo. I remembered you saying that you had started a caring bridge site and I thought I would see how Harlan was doing. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. In the time I got to spend with him was enough for me to tell that he was a wonderful man. You must feel so blessed to have been given the time you had with him. My heart goes out to you and your family at such a difficult time. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Candise Jarding
