1: Our Family History | "Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow."

2: Joseph Henry Clement was born in 1826 on the Portuguese Island of Madera .

3: At that time Spain had opened Texas for American Settlement. At the age of 17 Joseph and several of his brothers traveled to the new world as stowaways on a ship. They landed near Galveston.

4: Joseph Settled in an area known as Chocolate Bayou. Joseph married Susan Esenbrauer. They both worked at a dairy farm.

5: Liverpool Texas began as a trading posting 1927. It became a town in 1837. The town was important to surrounding areas, including Austin Colony. Austin Colony bought cotton and other produce to Liverpool on ox carts. It was then loaded on boats and sent to Galveston on Chocolate Bayou

6: The year was 1833. At this time Texas was attempting to draft a constitution similar to the United States at the time. Stephen F. Austin, was a Representative at that Convention.

8: Joseph enlisted in the Confederate Army in 1861. He served in Company G.A.C. Bates Regiment. He was wounded and sent home to recover from his battle wounds. He later served the Texas Troopers Calvary.

13: On July 10, 1865 Major G. Grainger officially declared slavery dead in the USA. This was published in Brazoria County Texas

14: After the war Joseph worked on a plantation and opened a Grocery Store. They 5 children. Joseph was my Great Great Great Grandfather.

18: Stephen F. Austin died in Brazoria County and was buried Peach Point Cemetery . His tomb is still located at the Cemetery. He was later re-buried in the Texas State Cemetery in Austin in 1910

20: Stephen F. Austin was declared "The Father of Texas" in the year 1833
