FC: Colorado Bound
After a crazy 9 months Jan and Dennis bought a house in Silverthorne Co. What prompted this? A totally great winter of skiing | Now the fun part--packing and moving- who yea
So the process begins: Thank heaven for the Mitchells' Matt helped Dennis put shell on top of truck.
Marsha came a few times and brought family with her-she's so smart
Jan is excited, she has one clean room. Spencer quit his Arbys manager job to join us. | A 28' Penske truck, pickup with a trailer to haul Toy fully loaded, and Mits fully loaded Whew!
Amazing what one can collect. And Dennis just finished his workshop! | Think one of us collected a few bikes?
What got left behind in case we started a second home back in Ohio
It took the boys 4 x's to load the small trailer with the workshop. Last time was in pouring rain | Below left part of the garage is empty! Man of the hour and Dennis trying to figure out how to load truck
Amazing we got it all in. Seth and Spencer sure had fun
Jan's last swim in the river. She sure will miss it.
After lots of packing Seth and Spencer decide to play. Got out the BB gun and started target practice just like they did over 12 years ago! Time flies when you're having fun.
Looks like we're packed and ready
We arrived after a long trip out with a traumatized cat. Aspens were at their peak color | At least Spencer is ready for the photo
Views from the upstairs bedroom balcony
The Roof ! | The tear off. The pitch so steep we had to harness ourselves in
One had to hang it out in order to finish the job! | Beginning of the day, Seth and Spencer are still smiling | Oh yea we be having fun...is it nap time yet?

Typical pose of Dennis for about 2months | A well deserved lunch
Spencer took a shot of another great sunset. | Still on the south side of the house!!
Looks like Nathaniel is the demonstrator! | Thank Heaven there's only 2 sides to roof!
Not quite sure what the boys were discussing or who won the debate
Dennis kept wondering what happened to all his tape measures. Jan got the evidence on film !
How Seth managed with low cut sport socks I'll never know Chilly tootsies | Yo Dad, listen...
So ya think we'll be finished with the roof before the snow really falls?
Jan took a walk and zoomed in from afar to take roof shots of fascia work
Looks like a happy group to me | Not sure who would rather be skiing more
Spencer convincing Dennis it's straight. Below look like hot dog time again
Spencer's having way too much fun and Seth does not appear to be having half as much fun
Sure took a long time to get the fascia worked out | Seth keeping us warm and more importantly slowly burning the old roof
The company who came to shingle the roof. Easy way to get materials on roof | Much faster with a crew of 8!
Where we kept Dennis after finishing the roof. No more projects for awhile
There maybe snow on the ground but putting some muscle into the work , it gets hot! Tuff being closer to the sun.
Uller Festival | Dogs were the best looking part of the whole festival!
Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. CathyAllen
Beginning the destruction and remodel of laundry and heating areas
After clearing out the laundry room everything got moved from one side to the other. This would give us much more room for some storage and hanging up ski clothes.
Needless to say Jim did a great job for never having installed this unit.
Seth and Spencer changing the windshield wipers w/ the help of You Tube
A visit from the Moore's. I think the horses want to try boarding. Nathaniel walking back from a hike

July saw us back to work on the house. Dominic Smith lived with us and worked. Insulated and put up cedar around the garage. Best looking garage in the neighborhood
After Dominic left we hired Tucker. What a gem he was | A bit of siding for the house
The white is poly iso the insulation under a 1/2 inch sheet of composite board | This was put around the whole house, covering all window openings. Then the window openings were cut out.
The first cut for the openings of the windows. See the blade? | Tucker sorting wood and putting up plastic after cutting window openings. Not something you would want to do in the fall!
 no comment needed
Left: Close up of work Top right: Looking good guys Bottom: Tucker patiently waiting for Dennis to measure twice and cut once.
Jan continues to work inside. Really liked the idea of American Clay on the walls. So left is before all white and below is the start | And yes fall is definitely approaching as we head into the end of Sept
The south side of the house if done and windows in. Tucker cutting from the inside of the north side of the house. Front of the house -all window in, and yes a lot more warmer.
So ends our 1st year in the mountains. A truly no slouch year. | Dennis finishing the cut on the north side of the house
To continue for the rest of the year. Putting in windows
 Living room windows done!! YEA

Needed to replace upstairs sliding doors. Major heat loss. | Think Tucker is questioning Dennis' wisdom?
OK which stain was the right stain? | Dennis pretending he's Vanna White putting on his tool belt
Had to stain all the siding :) So Dennis and Tucker rigged up a way to place each board into a vat (below with tarp) Two people would quickly dipped the board, then carry it over to the yard to dry. Great fun
Yea Seth came to live with us again and teach at A-Basin. Meantime a great helper
