FC: Created by: Divin and Jason | Cells | The structure of life

-One of the basic principles of biology. -Created by: Theodor Schwann, Matthias Schleiden, and Rudulph Virchow, and Robert Hooke. -All living organisms are composed of cells. -Either unicellular or multicellular. -The basic unit of life. -Cells arise from pre-existing cells.

Prokaryote | -Prokaryotes are a group of organisms that do not contain a nucleus. | -Usually live near liquid water. -Most Prokaryotes are unicellular. -reproduce asexually and don't need oxygen to survive. | -Most Prokaryotes are unicellular. | -Are usually bacteria

Eukaryote | -Any of the single-celled or multicellular organisms. -Organisms such as plants, fungi, and protist, and animal cells. | --- | -Organisms such as plants, fungi, and protist-Organisms such as plants, fungi, and protist, and animal cells.animal cells.

-They are eukaryotic cells that are covered by a cell membrane. | Animal Cell | -Is covered by a cell-membrane. -Genetic information is located in the nucleus -animal cells make up many tissues in animals (that includes humans).

P L A N T C E L L | -Unlike the animal cells the plant cell has many other organelles such as vacuole, chloroplast, cell wall, and perixisomes. | -Store water and food in the vacuoles. They contain chloroplast that help the plants make their own food.

 - The cells disposal system. They also digest many compounds. -Lysosomes work with vacuoles. The lysosomes dispense enzymes into vacuoles and digest its content. | -The golgi apparatus is a set of flattened, membrane-bound sacs that serves as the packaging and distribution center of the cell. -Protein storer. -Found in Eukaryotic cells.

-Ribosomes are cellular structures that make proteins. -Its found on the rough er. - They float in the cytoplasm. | - Contains DNA and ribosomes, which creates most mitochondrial proteins. - Located near the nucleus. -Outer membrane is smo0th and the inner membrane is folded.

 - Moves proteins through the cell. -Has ribosomes attached to it. - Makes lipids. | -The smooth ER is part of the internal membrane. Its job is to move proteins and other substances throughout the cell. It also makes lipids.

 - The nucleus holds DNA and assembles ribosomes. - Only in Eukaryotic cells. | -Nucleolus is in the center region of the nucleus. it produces ribosomes which move to the rough ER where they help in protein synthesis. Only found in eukaryotic cells.

Cytoplasm | -A jelly-like substance that fills the cell. - It is 80% water and most of the time it's clear. -It is the room for the cytoskeleton. -It's a good conductor of electricity.

 - The cell membrane is an outer boundary that encloses the cell and separates the cell interior, cytoplasm, from the exterior surroundings. -The cell membrane is made up of lipids. -In an animal cell it is the outermost layer of the cell. | Cell Membrane

Chloroplast | Central vacuole | A membrane-bound compartments that can serve a variety of secretory, excretory, and storage functions. | A plastid that contains chlorophyll and in which photosynthesis takes place.

-Is the property of a system like a cell to remain its natural in-built balance. - To maintain a stable balance of bodily functions like temperature and Ph level. | Homeostasis
