1: Life brings simple pleasures to us every day. It is up to us to make them wonderful memories. - CathyAllen | c | Cinnamon Rolls 1 c. hot milk 1 c. shortening 2 packages yeast 2 tsp salt 1 c. lukewarm water (110) 2 eggs 2/3 c sugar 8 c. sifter flour Pour hot milk over shortening, sugar, salt in lg. bowl. Cool to lukewarm. Add yeast dissolved in warm water. Add beaten eggs and 1/2 of the flour. Stir in the remainder of the flour and mix till dough can be handled easily. Grease the top of dough and place in greased bowl covered and put in fridge if not going to use right away. Will keep 4 days. When ready to use, cut off dough needed, roll out on floured board 1/2 " thick. Spread with butter, sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar, roll up. Cut in 1" thick slices. Place in greased pan- brush with melted butter, cover and let rise 2 hours in a warm place. Bake at 400 for 15-20 minutes. Ice with milk and powdered sugar icing.

A family is quilted and bound with love and grace. | Grandma Reed's Chocolate Cake 2 c. sugar 2 &1/4 c. flour 1/2 c. shortening 1/4 t. salt 3 eggs 3 heaping T. cocoa 1/2 c. sour milk & 1/2 c. boiling water or 1 c. milk 1 t. baking pd. 1 t. soda (skip if milk) 1 t. cinnamon 1/4 t. cloves, allspice, nutmeg 8x10 cake pan, 350 for 35 minutes or less | Juicy Burgers 1 # ground chuck & 1 # ground round Brown and Drain Add a small onion chopped, 2 cans of tomato sauce, equal parts of brown sugar &vinegar (2 T), 2 T. Worcestershire sauce, 1/4 c. ketchup Add a little water if necessary. Salt and pepper

4: Live well, laugh often, love much | Applesauce Spice Cake 3 c. flour 1 3/4 t. baking soda 1 t. cinnamon 1 t. nutmeg 1/4 t cloves 1/2 t. salt 1 c. brown sugar 1 c. white sugar 1 c. melted butter 2 c. applesauce 1 t. vanilla 1 c. walnuts 1 c. golden raisins Line a 9 or 10" tube pan with wax paper and spray with Pam.Bake for 1 1/2 hours at 325 oven. Sprinkle cooled cake with powdered sugar.

5: White Chili 1 c. onion, chopped 2 T. minced garlic 1/4 c vegetable oil 1 T. cumin 1 # ground turkey 2/3 c. pearl barley 2# skinless, boneless turkey breasts cubed 2 (15oz) cans white beans, undrained 1 (4oz) can green chilies 6 cups chicken broth 1 t. marjorum 1/2 t. savory 1 1/2 T. arrowroot salt and pepper to taste grated Monterey Jack cheese 1/2 c. sliced scallions In a large soup pot, cook onion and garlic over low heat, stirring until softened. Add cumin. Cook for 5 minutes. Add ground turkey and turkey breast. Cook over moderate heat,stirring until turkey is no longer pink. Add barley, beans, chilies, broth and spices. Simmer uncovered stirring occasionally for 45 minutes. Mix arrowroot in 1/2 cup of water and add to the chili. Simmer for 15 minutes. Season with salt & pepper to taste. Serve garnished with cheese and scallions. | Morning Protein Shake Handful of spinach (about 1.5-2 c.) A scoop of your favorite choc. protein powder Approximately 6-10 pitted black cherries 1 individual Oikos greek yogurt(vanilla or plain, about 5-6 tablespoons) Splash of water (personal discretion for density) End result, protein shake that tastes like choc. cherries...the spinach is present but is overpowered by the taste of the other flavors.

WEALTH BEYOND MEASURE. | ____________________________________________________________ | Mike's Scones Mix 2 c. flour,4 t. baking pd.,& 3/4 t. salt Mix 1 beaten egg & 3/4 c. sour cream Cut in 4 T.butter & 2 T. shortening to the flour mix. Then add egg mix. Turn dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly. Roll dough out into a 1/2 inch thick round. Cur into 8 wedges, and place on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 15 minutes in 400 degree oven. You can add sugar & cinn. or bacon & cheese to dough as you knead it. | Sarah's Slush 7 c. water 1 (12oz )frozen orange juice 4 green tea bags or orange peco tea bags 1 (12oz) frozen lemonade 2 c. sugar 2 c. brandy, gin, whiskey or vodka Combine the 7 c. water and 2 . sugar and bring to boil; cool. Steep tea bags in 2 c. boiling water for 10min; cool. Remove tea bags. Mix sugar water and tea water. When cooled, add the frozen juices, stir until dissolved. Add brandy or substitute and mix well. Put in containers and freeze. Makes approximately 3 1/2 qts. When serving: 2-3 T. slush to a glass of 7-up , sour, or ginger ale.

7: King Ranch Casserole 10 corn tortillas ripped into 1.5"square pieces 4 chicken breasts cooked and shredded Sauce: Combine and Saute--- 1 can cream of chicken soup 1 can cream of mushroom soup 1 can Rotel 1/2 onion, chopped 1/2 green(or jalapeno) pepper, chopped Layer in casserole dish bottom: 1 layer corn tortillas 1 layer chicken 1 layer sauce 1 layer shredded cheese( about half a cup). Continue layering until finished. Bake at 350 until cheese is melted. Serve with tequila drinks. | Baked Corned Beef With Peppered Cabbage 1 3 to 4 # corned beef brisket 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 t. ginger 1/2 t.cloves 1/2 t. dry mustard 1 T. honey 1 med. head white cabbage, grated 1/4 c. butter 2 T. sour cream Dash of salt 1 t. freshly ground pepper Boil beef in water and cover for 2 to 3 hours or until tender. Remove from water; trim off excess fat. Place in roasting pan. Make a paste of sugar, ginger, cloves, mustard and honey; spread over beef. Bake in preheated 325-degree oven for 25 to 30 min. Saute cabbage in butter for 2 to 3 minutes or until crisp tender, stirring constantly. Stir in sour cream; season with salt and pepper. Serve with corned beef. Yield: 6 servings.

9: Edie's Egg Experiment 2 c. hash browns 1/4 c. diced onion 1 c. diced red & green peppers 1 c. diced or crumbled meat(sausage, bacon or ham) or (easier!) 1 bag frozen Jimmy Dean Breakfast Skillet 1&1/2 c. broccoli florets 1&1/2 c. pepper strips 12 eggs 1/4 c. milk salt & pepper 1 bag shredded cheddar or Parmesan Preheat oven and glass 10x15 baking dish to 350. Cook meat, vegetables and hash browns in large skillet over med. heat for 10-15 minutes or until sizzling. Beat the eggs in a separate bowl, add milk , salt & pepper. When veggies are done, coat the hot baking dish with cooking spray, spoon in the veggie mix and pour in the eggs. Bake for 15-20 min until eggs are almost set. Top with cheese, and cook for another 5-10 min. or until cheese is melted. Serves 12. Also works well with egg whites, and any leftover veggies can be substituted for the broccoli. | Mac and Cheese Put drained, cooked pasta in buttered casserole - 9x9 for small box; 9x13 for large box. Toss in package of shredded cheddar or mixed cheeses (2 for large) Sprinkle with pepper if you like. Add milk almost to top of mac mix. Cover with American cheese slices. Scatter on top - crushed Ritz or Townhouse crackers coated in melted butter. Bake at 350 - 400 (about 30 min.) until bubbly and starting to brown. | Brer Rabbit Cookies 3/4 c. shortening 1 c. br. sugar (packed) 1 egg 1/4 c. molasses 2 &1/4 c. flour 2 t. soda 1 t.cinnamon 1 t. ginger 1/2 t. cloves 1/4 t. salt Mix thoroughly shortening, br. sugar, egg and molasses. Blend in remaining ingredients. Cover; chill 1 hour. Heat oven to 375. Shape dough by rounded teaspoonfuls into balls. Dip tops in granulated sugar. Place balls sugared side up 3 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 10 - 12 minutes. Immediately remove from baking sheet.

10: Limoncello-Gin Cocktail 2 large sprigs fresh thyme;more for garnish 1 T. fresh lime juice 1 1/2 oz. gin 1/2 oz. limoncello Grill thyme sprigs until fragrant(15 sec.) In a cocktail shaker, gently muddle the grilled thyme with the lime juice. Add the gin and limoncello and fill the shaker with ice. Stir well. Strain into a chilled rocks glass filled with fresh ice, garnish with thyme, and serve. | Beef Burgundy 1 # stew meat 1 can cream of Put everything in a crock pot and cook on low 1 c. red wine mush. soup all day. Mash meat a little with a spoon before 1 envelope dry onion soup mix serving over noodles.

11: Taco Soup 1 1/2 # hamburger 1 can kidney beans 1 can chili beans 2 cans Rotel tomatoes 1 can corn 1 1/2 c. water 1 pk. dry ranch dressing 1 pk. taco seasoning salt and pepper Brown hamburger, put in crock pot. Add cans undrained, water and packages. Cook on low 4-6 hours. Serve with Fritos and shredded cheese. | Bourbon Glazed Salmon 3 T. brown sugar 3 T. bourbon 2 T. low-sodium so sauce 1 T. grated peeled fresh ginger 1 T. fresh lime juice 3 garlic cloves, minced 1/4 t. pepper 4 skinless salmon fillets 1/4 c. thinly sliced green onions 1 T. sesame seeds, toasted Combine first 7 ingredients in a large zip-top plastic bag. Add fish to bag;seal. Marinate in refrig. 1& 1/2 hours, turning occasionally. Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Coat pan with cooking spray. Add fish and marinade to pan; cook fish 4 minutes on each side. Place 1 fillet on each of 4 plates; drizzle each with about 2 t. sauce. Sprinkle each serving with 1 T. green onions and 3/4 t. sesame seeds.

12: Cheeseburger Meatloaf 1 # ground beef seasoned with garlic powder, salt and pepper. 1 med. onion chopped, 1 c. grated cheddar cheese, 2 T. Worcestershire sauce,1/2 c. sour cream,1 c. crushed Ritz crackers. Mix all ingredients together. Shape into a loaf pan. Heat 1 can cream of mush.soup,& 1 c. milk and add 1 1/2 c. grated cheddar cheese. Cover meatloaf with sauce. Bake at 350 for 45 min. | Chocolate Chip Cookies 2/3 c. Crisco 2/3 c. butter 1 c. white sugar 1 c. brown sugar 2 eggs 2 t. vanilla 3 c. flour 1 t. soda & 1 t. salt 18 oz. of chocolate chips Mix thoroughly. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes. | Stuffed Manicotti 1 # mild sausage 1 jar Ragu 1 small onion chopped 4 c. mozzarella 1 box manicotti 15 oz. ricotta Fry sausage with onion. At the same time, boil the manicotti as directed on box. Drain sausage when done; add all cheese and stir. Take manicotti out of water and cool slightly. Stuff with sausage and cheese mix. Put in 9x13 casserole and cover with Ragu. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for45 minutes.

13: Red Tart Cherry Glazed Ham 1 4 to 5 # fully cooked boneless ham, sliced 1/4 " thick 1 12 oz. jar Smucker's Orchard's Finest Michigan Red Tart Cherry Preserves 1 T. apple cider vinegar 1/8 t. ground cinnamon 1/8 t. ground nutmeg and dash of cloves 2 T. raisins, if desired Heat oven to 325. Overlap slices of ham in shallow baking pan; cover with foil. Bake 50 - 60 minutes. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and microwave on high for 3-4 min. Arrange ham on serving platter. Spoon 1/4 cup glaze over center of ham. Serve with remaining warm glaze . Makes 16 servings. | Spinach Walnut Penne 2 cups reduced-sodium vegetable broth 1 can (14.5) diced tomatoes with Basil, Garlic & Oregano-no salt-undrained 2 c. dry multigrain penne pasta, uncooked 2 T. Fleischmann's Spread 1 (6 0z) pk. baby spinach leaves 1/3 c. chopped walnuts 1/2 c. shredded Parmesan cheese Combine broth, undrained tomatoes, pasta and Fleischmann's in a large skillet. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring occasionally. Cover and reduce heat to medium and cook 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Stir in spinach and cook 3-4 minutes. Sprinkle with walnuts and cheese just before serving.

14: Mary's Potatoes Put 5 tubs of Bob Evans prepared mashed potatoes in a crock pot. Mix in 8 oz. of cream cheese, a 24 oz. tub of sour cream, and 2 envelopes of dry Hidden Valley Ranch. Bake on low for 4 hours. | Southwestern Salsa with Black Beans and Corn 1 1/2 t. cumin seeds 2 (15 oz.) cans black beans, rinsed and drained 1 (15 oz) can whole kernel corn, drained 1 red pepper, minced 1 small purple onion, minced ( 1 cup) 1/2 c. chopped fresh cilantro 1/2 c. chopped fresh parsley 1/3 c. lime juice 1/4 c. olive oil 3 cloves garlic, crushed 1/2 t. salt 1 t. dried crushed red pepper 1/2 t. freshly ground black pepper Toast cumin seeds in a skillet over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes or until brown and fragrant, stirring often. Combine cumin seeds, black beans, and remaining ingredients; toss well. Cover and store in refrigerator up to 1 week. Yield: 6 cups. Serve with tortilla chips.

15: It's the moments I spend with you that build the memories which last a lifetime. -M Gutierrez | Easy Lasagna 2 jars pasta sauce(can add browned hamburger or sausage) 12 lasagna noodles, uncooked 2 containers ricotta cheese, 2 c. mozzarella cheese, 1/2 c. Parmesan cheese, 2 eggs(optional) Mix the cheeses together and add eggs if wanted. Set aside. Layer in a 9x13 dish: pasta sauce, 4 noodles, pasta sauce, 1/2 cheese mix, 4 noodles, pasta sauce, 1/2 cheese mix, 4 noodles, pasta sauce. Cook for 60 minutes, uncovered, remove and sprinkle more Parmesan, cook for 10 minutes more. Very yummy! Very easy! | Coffee Cake 1/2 c oil 2 eggs beaten 1 c milk 3 c.sifted flour 1/2 c sugar 4 t. baking pd. 1 t.salt Combine oil, eggs & milk. Sift together dry ingredients, add to milk mixture. Mix well. Pour into greased 9x13 pan. Add topping Topping: 1/2 c brown sugar 2 t. cinnamon 2 T. melted butter 2 t. flour Bake 350 for 25 min. Ice with pd. sugar & milk icing.

16: FAMILY | Grandma's Biscuits 2 c flour 3 t. baking pd. - rounded pinch of salt 3 T. Crisco - rounded Mash together Crisco and dry ingredients until cornmeal consistency. Add up to 3/4 cups milk, until dough is sticky. Aunt Lucy - more milk Mom - more Crisco Avoid unnecessary kneading Roll on floured surface 1" thick. Cut with biscuit cutter or a glass. Place in greased pan close together. Bake at 400-425 for 10 min. or till brown. | Hearts Salad 1 head lettuce 1 bunch Romain lettuce 1 jar of pimento, drained 1 can of Hearts of Palm, drained and cut 1 jar of Artichoke Hearts, drained and cut green onions or green peppers, cut Rinse and tear some of both lettuces until you have enough in your bowl. Add rest of the ingredients and toss with dressing. Dressing: Mix 1/2 c oil and 1/3 c. vinegar Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese after the dressing. Serves 6-8
