1: Bon Appetit! | As you begin your new life as a wife, we wanted to share some of our favorite recipes to help you keep things spicy in the kitchen! This is a collection of our favorite easy-to-make recipes. Enjoy!
2: Ingredients 2.5 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts (thighs would be fine too) Salt and pepper 1 cup honey 1/2 cup soy sauce 4 tablespoons diced onion 4 tablespoons ketchup 2 tablespoon canola oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional) 4 teaspoons cornstarch, dissolved in 6 Tablespoons water Sesame seeds | Crockpot Honey Sesame Chicken | From the kitchen of: Amanda Paul
3: Directions Season both sides of chicken with lightly with salt and pepper, put into crock pot. In a small bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, onion, ketchup, oil, garlic and pepper flakes. Pour over chicken. Cook on low for 3-4 hours or on high 1 1/2 – 2 1/2 hours, or just until chicken is cooked through. Remove chicken from crock pot, leave sauce. Dissolve 4 teaspoons of cornstarch in 6 tablespoons of water and pour into crock pot. Stir to combine with sauce. Replace lid and cook sauce on high for ten more minutes or until slightly thickened. Cut chicken into bite size pieces, then return to pot and toss with sauce before serving. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and serve over rice or noodles.
4: Mini Taco Cups | Ingredients 24 Wonton wrappers 1 lb. meat (ground beef, ground turkey, shredded chicken) 1 packet taco seasoning 1 cup shredded Mexican cheese Your favorite taco toppings (lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, sour cream, etc.) | Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat a large muffin tin with cooking spray and line each section with two wonton wrappers, angling them so they aren't right on top of each other. Cook the meat and add the taco seasoning according the the directions on the packet. Divide the meat among the 12 muffin tin sections. Top each with the cheese. Bake for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is completely melted. Top with your favorite toppings and enjoy!!! | Tip: Wonton wrappers are the best!! You can use them to make sloppy joes, lasagna, and anything else you can come up with. An added bonus is that they are a great way to cut calories.
6: Tip: I love spicy food, so I always go for the medium level enchilada sauce and add a can of green chiles to the meat mixture. If you aren't much of a spice fan, you can omit the green chiles and go for the mild enchilada sauce.
7: Bubble Up Enchiladas | Ingredients 1 16 oz. can refrigerated biscuits 1 lb. ground turkey 1 10 oz. can medium enchilada sauce 1 small can green chiles 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese | Directions Preheat oven to 350 degrees Coat an 13 x 9 baking pan with cooking spray. Cut each of the biscuits into fourths and spread them out on the bottom of the pan. Brown the turkey and add the enchilada sauce and green chiles. Dump the mixture into the pan on top of the biscuits. Bake for about 25 minutes or until the biscuits are cooked through. Top with the cheese and cook for another 10 minutes or until the cheese is melted.
8: From the kitchen of: Abby Modica | Ingredients One can of pilsbury crescent rolls (make sure you get a can that makes 8 crescents) About 4 Tablespoons Cream Cheese A few slices of lunch meat of Curt's choice | Directions Open the can of crescent rolls and spread them out on a cookie sheet. Break them in to 4 rectangles each consisting of 2 triangle squares. Squish the two triangles together so it is a single sheet. Then put about one tablespoon of cream cheese in the center of each of the 4 rectangles. Cut up the lunch meat into small pieces and place some on top of each pile of cream cheese. Fold the corners together hamburger style and leave a hole in the middle of the top for the meat to peak through but make sure the sides are sealed so they don't leak. Bake in the oven following the directions on the can of crescent rolls. Feel free to experiment with different meats and cheese in the middle for different flavors. | Homemade Hot Pockets
10: Baked Mostaccioli | Ingredients 1 Lb Mostaccioli or Penne Noodles One jar of Curt's favorite Spaghetti Sauce Mozzarella Cheese | Directions Cook and drain the noodles according to the box directions and place in a large bowl. Stir in spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese to your liking. Put the whole bowl in the microwave for a few minutes until the cheese is melted and serve.
12: Ingredients 3 chicken breasts 1 can cream of chicken soup Parsley flakes 1 lg. pkg. Reames frozen homemade noodles | Directions Cook chicken breasts; cut meat from bones in chunks. Reserve broth. Mix cream of chicken soup with enough broth to make creamy; add the chicken chunks and a few good dashes of parsley flakes. Cook the noodles in the remaining chicken broth plus water until done. Mix noodles with the chicken soup sauce. Add salt to taste. | Easy Chicken and Noodles | From the Kitchen of: Kimber Cross
14: Tip: For crispy top sprinkle with grated parmesean or shredded cheese and put in oven on broil for about 10-15 min, or till golden brown.
15: Homemade Macaroni and Cheese | Ingredients 1 lb. elbow macaroni 1 can (12 fl oz.)-evaporated milk 1 tsp. pepper 1/2 tsp. salt 1/4 cup (4 tbsp.) butter 1 lb. assorted cheese (sharp, cheddar, Velveeta, Parmesan) | Directions Preheat oven to 350F. Bring medium sized pan of water to boil. Add elbow macaroni. Cook macaroni until done. Meanwhile, cut up cheese into thin slices or small cubes. Drain water and pour macaroni into a casserole dish. Add butter, salt, pepper, milk, and cheese. Stir together. Bake for about 20-30 minutes. Stir occasionally. If it gets dry you may add a little more milk. Serves about 6-8.
16: From the Kitchen of: Ashley Augsburger | Ashley's Cooking Tip to you: The stove thing with the fire does not have one setting. I turn mine all the way up because this will make things cook faster. This is not true. Things burn faster. You want to keep it on medium, yes it takes longer to heat up, but your carrot will not hate you forever for ruining its end purpose. And you will not have to eat black stuff.=]
17: Pesto Turkey and Pasta | Ingredients 3 cups uncooked farfalle (bow-Tie) Pasta 2 cups cubed,, cooked turkey breasts 1/2 cup basil pesto 1/2 cup coarsely chopped roasted red peppers | Directions Cook and drain pasta as directed on package in 3-quart saucepan. Mix hot cooked pasta, turkey, pesto and bell peppers in same saucepan. Heat over low heat, stirring constantly, until hot Garnish with olives..
18: Super Easy Chicken Manicotti | Ingredients 1 Jar of Pasta sauce 3/4 cup of water 1 teaspoon garlic salt 1 1/2 cups uncooked chicken breast tenders 14 uncooked manicotti shells 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese Basil, if desired | Directions Heat oven to 350F. In medium bowl, mix pasta sauce and water. Spread about 1/3 of the pasta sauce mixture in ungreased 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish. Sprinkle garlic salt on chicken. Insert chicken into uncooked manicotti shells, stuffing from each end of shell to fill if necessary. Place shells on pasta sauce in baking dish. Pour remaining pasta sauce evenly over shells, covering completely. Cover with foil. Bake about 1 hour or until chicken is no longer pink in center and shells are tender. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake uncovered about 5 minutes or until cheese is melted. Sprinkle with basil.
20: From the Kitchen of: Kendra Bolen | Ingredients 3 eggs 1 stick butter 1 cup sugar 1 cup brown sugar 1 tsp vanilla 1 1/2 cup peanut butter 4 1/2 cup oatmeal 2 tsp baking soda 1 cup M&M's | Directions Mix ingredients in order. Pour into a greased jelly roll pan. Bake 12-15 minutes in a preheated 350* oven. | Monster Bars
22: Always take cookies out of the oven just a little bit early and leave sitting in the pan for about 5 minutes. They will finish baking on the hot pan and will be absolutely perfect!!!
23: Nieman-Marcus Bars | Ingredients 1 yellow cake mix (pudding in mix) 1 egg, beaten 1/4 lb butter, melted 1 c. chopped pecans | Directions Mix all ingredients. Put into well buttered 10" x 14" pan. Top with following mixture: 4 c. powdered sugar 1 8-oz pkg cream 3 whole eggs 1 tsp vanilla Cream together sugar and cheese. Add remaining ingredients and mix with hand mixer until smooth and frost over first layer. Bake in 350* over for 45 minutes or until top is golden brown.
24: Grandma Shirley's Holiday Masked Potatoes | Ingredients 5 lbs potatoes, peeled, cooked, and mashed 3 oz cream cheese 1 cup sour cream 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 2 tbsp butter | Directions Mix everything but butter. Add milk if needed. Dot with butter. Bake until warm in a casserole dish.
26: Ingredients 4 skinless chicken breasts 1 bottle (17.5oz) wing sauce 1 packet dry ranch dressing 2 T butter | Directions Pour the bottle of wing sauce into crock pot. Add dry ranch, mix add butter and chicken. Cook for 6-7 hours checking and turning the temp down. After cooked shred meat and serve on hamburger buns or rolls. | Crock Pot Chicken | From the Kitchen of: Jessi Albrecht | Tip: Set a timer for less, and check that way you know your not burning your meal!
28: Chicken and Noodles | Ingredients 2-3 large chicken breasts 1 box rotini noodles 1 jar of Classico (sun-dried tomato alfredo) pasta sauce | Directions Cut chicken into desired pieces. Add to sauce pan with olive oil and saute. Boil your noodles until done. add chicken to pasta with sauce. Enjoy! | Tip: Ground turkey is so much tastier than ground beef! [:)] and healthier
29: Ingredients 1 package beef tips 1-2 cans beef broth 1 pkg stir-fry veggies 2 cup water 1 pkg egg noodles 1 pkg onion soup mix | Directions Cook beef tips all day in a crock pot on med add 1 can of broth and water with and the onion soup mix. After beef is nice and tender add all the vegetables. When the veggies are done boil water and cook your noodles so they are not quiet done but just about. add to crock pot add another can of broth if needed. | Easy Beef and Noodles | Tip: Never put a lid on while boiling potatoes - They WILL boil over!
30: Monkey Bread | Ingredients 4 tubes pillsbury buttermilk biscuits 1 1/3 cup sugar 2 tsp. cinnamon 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla | Directions Cut biscuits into quarters. Mix together 2/3 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Roll each piece into the mixture. Drop biscuits into a 12 cup bundt pan sprayed with non stick spray. Combine remaining sugar, cinnamon, butter, and vanilla in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil. pour over biscuits. Back at 350 for 40 minutes or until the top of the biscuits are golden brown. Turn immediately out on a place and serve warm.
31: Whipped Jello | Ingredients Any kind of your favorite jello Cool Whip | Directions Cook jello according to directions on package. Stir in cool whip when jello is firmly set! | Tip: To get the peach skins off super easy slice a X at the base of the peach and boil for 1-2 minutes. Skins will peel right off after cooled.
32: From the Kitchen of: Renee Schultz | Ingredients 3 Can of tomato sauce 2 cans of Brooks hot chili beans 1 lb of ground beef 1 onion, chopped Chili Powder Seansoned Pepper | Directions Brown the ground beef in a large pot with onions, chili powder, and seasoned pepper until fully cooked; drain grease. Add tomato sauce and chili beans to the meat. Add more chili powder until desired taste. Cover and simmer for 2 hours, stirring occasionally. (You can simmer for a shorter amount of time if needed.) Top with cheese and/or onions and serve with cornbread or crackers. Serves 6 | Warm-You-Up Chili
33: If you are making a recipe and it doesn't taste right, add Garlic. 9 out of 10 times it makes it better. ;)
34: Mini Pizzas | Ingredients Small loaf of thinly sliced cocktail rye bread Pizza Sauce Mozzarella and Parmesan Cheese Your favorite pizza toppings | Directions Preheat oven to 415 Lay rye bread slices across a cookie sheet. Spread sauce across each individual slice, then add cheese and toppings. Bake 10 minutes or to desired crispiness. | Find recipes that are variations of things you like to make to keep variety in your meals.
35: Stu Surprise | Ingredients 1 bag of your favorite frozen veggies 1 lb of sausage Noodles, any kind will do Your favorite seasonings (I use garlic powder, seasoned pepper, and sea salt. The more seasoned your sausage is, the less seasonings you need) | Directions Cook noodles, drain, and set aside. In a skillet or wok, brown your sausage until it is almost fully cooked. Drain oil. Turn the stove up to medium high head (high if you are using a wok.)\ Add the bag of frozen veggies and cook, stirring continuously. Season as desired. When the veggies are cooked, add in noodles and cook until heated. | This recipe is my own creation, so there is no picture. It works with any type of meat or veggies you wish to use, or have left over.
