1: Bon Appetit! | No one ever cooked quite like Grandma so we put this book together to celebrate all the wonderful home-cooked meals that she provided us with over the years.

2: Ingredients 3 1/2 lb ground beef 5 onions, chopped 2 medium potatoes, cubed 4 medium carrots, chopped 4 large celery stalks, chopped 1 head (med) cabbage 1 large can tomatoes 4 beef bouillon cubes 4 cups water 2 cans beef broth 1/2 cup rice 2 bay leaves 1/2 tsp thyme 1/4 tsp garlic salt & pepper 2 cans kidney beans | Directions Dissolve bouillon cubes in boiling water. Meanwhile brown ground beef in dutch oven with onions. & garlic until lightly browned. Add potatoes, carrots, celery, cabbage, add tomatoes & beef broth. Bring to a boil. Sprinkle in rice; add bay leaf, thyme, basil, salt & pepper and water. Stir well. Cover simmer for 1 hour. Stirring occasionally. 3: Friendship is precious not only in the shade but in the sunshine of life; and... the greater part of life is sunshine. ~Thomas Jefferson | Depression Soup 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1/2 cup macaroni 1/2 cup onion 1/2 cup celery 3 1/2 quarts water 1 large can tomatoes salt & pepper to taste carrots green beans Boil water. Drop ground beef into boiling water bit by bit. Add all other ingredients except macaroni. Cook until vegetables are almost tender. Add macaroni. | Corn Fritters 1 pouch (6.5oz) cornbread mix 1 1/2 cup corn 1 egg 1/2 cup milk 1 tbsp vegetable oil In a medium bowl, combine corn bread mix, corn egg and milk. Let mixture stand 5 minutes. Pour the oil into a large non stick skillet and heat over medium - high heat. Drop heaping tablespoons of batter into hot oil; cook 1 - 1 1/2 minutes on each side. Flatten with spatula after turning. Serve warm or at room temperature with honey or maple syrup.

4: Chili Dip | Ingredients 3 cans Hormel chili without beans 3 8oz cream cheese American cheese | Directions 1) Melt cream cheese 2) Add chili 3) sprinkle cheese on top | 1 tsp extra virgin olive oil 1/2 cup minced white onion 1 tsp minced garlic 2 - 28oz cans crushed tomatoes 3 cups chicken broth 3/4 cup heavy cream 1/3 cup minced fresh basil 1/3 cup granulated sugar 2 tsp minced fresh parsley 1/4 tsp dried oregano 1/4 salt 1/4 pepper seasoned croutons Parmesan cheese to garnish | Heat olive oil in large sauce pan over medium heat. Then add onion and garlic. Saute for about 1 min. Add crushed tomatoes and chicken broth and bring mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 20 min up to an hour. Pour about 1/2 of the tomato mixture into a blender. Blend on high speed 1 minute. Pour mixture in large bowl and do same with the rest of the mixture. Pour all mixture back in sauce pan and add remaining ingredients and bring back to a bubble. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 min. Top with croutons and cheese. | Applebee's Tomato Basil Soup

5: Salads | Ingredients 1 (16oz) can small sweet green peas, drained 1 (16oz) can medium - size sweet green peas, drained 6 green onions, sliced 2 hard boiled eggs, chopped 3/4 cup diced sharp cheddar cheese 1/2 cup mayo 1 tsp lemon juice 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper | Directions Stir together all ingredients in a large bowl. Yields 4-6 servings Prep: 10 minutes | Pea Salad

6: Ingredients 1 tbsp sugar 2 tbsp Mayo 1/4 tsp salt & pepper 1 egg 2 tsp melted butter 3/4 cup light cream 1/4 cup vinegar 4 cups shredded cabbage paprika to taste | Directions Combine sugar, mayo, salt & pepper. Beat egg, add melted butter and cream. Mix well. Add vinegar very slowly, cook over hot water in double boiler stirring all the while until smooth and mixture thickens. chill and toss shredded cabbage and dressing. Garnish with paprika. | Cole Slaw Dressing | Waldorf Salad 3 large apples 1 tbsp lemon juice 1 cup celery 1/2 cup coursley chopped walnuts 1/4 cup Mayo some cool whip Peel apples,, cut in quarters and remove core. Cut quarters into thin slices, then into slender strips. Sprinkle with lemon juice. Cut celery in slender lengthwise strips, hold together and cut cross in 1/2 inch lengths. Add to apples and toss together and cover and chill. Just before serving add nuts and mayo to mixture and toss lightly. 5-6 servings

8: Ingredients 2/3 cup chopped onion 1 clove garlic, minced 1 tbsp. olive oil 1 1/2 lb. boneless skinless chicken breasts; cut into 3/4 in cubes 1 can (14 1/2 oz.) Chicken broth 1 1/2 cup chopped carrots 3 celery ribs chopped 1/2 tsp dried savory 3 tbsp margarine 3 tbsp all-purpose flour 3/4 tsp salt & pepper to taste 1 1/2 cup milk 1 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese 8oz. wide egg noodles cooked & drained | Directions Saute onion & garlic in oil until tender Add chicken; cook and stir until no longer pink. Add the broth, carrots, celery & savory. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 10-15min or until veggies are tender. Meanwhile, in a saucepan, melt butter, stir in flour, salt & pepper until smooth. Gradually add milk. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 min or until thick. Remove from heat; stir in cheese until melted. Pour over chicken mixture. Add noodles; mix well. Transfer to a 3qt baking dish coated with Pam. Bake uncovered at 350 for 15-20 min or bubbly. | Chicken Noodle Casserole

9: Dinner Casserole | Ingredients 1 1/2 lbs. ground beef 1 large onion, chopped 1 tbsp chili powder salt & pepper to taste 1 1/2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni 1 16 or 17 oz can light red kidney beans, undrained 1 16 or 17oz can tomatoes, chopped 1 10 3/4 oz can tomato soup | Directions In a large skillet brown ground beef and onion. Add chili powder, salt and pepper until beef loses its red color. Add all ingredients (leave macaroni uncooked) in 13x9 casserole dish. Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Bake casserole, covered. 1 hour and 10 min or until it is hot and bubbly. Remove from oven and let stand.

10: Mmmpossible Taco Pe | Mmmpossible Taco Pie | Ingredients 1-lb ground beef 1/2 cup chopped onion 2 envelopes taco mix 3/4 cup Bisquick baking mix 1 1/4 cup milk 3 eggs 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese 1/4 head lettuce, shredded 1 tomato diced 1/3 cup sliced olives sour cream Directions Heat oven to 400 Grease square baking dish 8x8x2. Cook and stir ground beef and onion in skillet until beef is browning, drain. Stir in seasoning mix; spoon into dish. Beat Bisquick, milk and eggs with whisk until smooth, about 1 min. Pour into dish. Bake until knife inserted in center comes out clean, about 25min. Sprinkle with cheese. Bake until cheese is melted, about 2min. Cool 5min. Garnish with lettuce, tomato, olives, sour cream. | Sloppy Joe's 1 1/2 lb. ground beef (lean) 1 large onion (sliced) butter in pan ketchup Cook onion in butter until tender. Add meat and cook until done. Add half bottle of Ketchup and half can tomato paste. Sean with salt & pepper

11: Layered Macaroni Casserole | Ingredients 1 - lb lean ground beef 1/2 cup chopped onion 1 garlic clove minced Lean (28oz) crushed tomatoes 1 can (6oz) tomato paste 2 tsp sugar 1 tsp salt 1 tsp chili powder 1 tsp dried basil 1/2 tsp dried oregano 1//2 tsp pepper 8oz uncooked elbow macaroni 2 cups (16oz) cottage cheese 1 1/2 cups (6oz) shredded cheddar cheese | Directions In nonstick skillet, cook ground beef, onion and garlic powder over medium heat until meat is no longer pink, drain. Add the tomatoes, tomato paste and seasonings. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 1 hour. Meanwhile, cook macaroni; drain. Add cottage cheese. In a 13x9 baking dish coated with Pam; layer 1 cup meat sauce, a third of the macaroni, mixture and a third of the cheddar cheese. repeat layers twice. Top with remaining meat sauce. Combine topping ingredients; sprinkle over sauce. 12: Quick & Easy Meatloaf | Ingredients 1 can cream of mushroom 2 lbs ground beef 1 pouch dry onion soup and recipe mix 1/2 cup dry bread crumbs 1 egg, beaten 1/4 cup water | Directions In large bowl mix 1/2 cup of the mushroom soup, beef, onion soup mix, bread crumbs, and egg. Put in baking pan 12x8. Shape into 8x4 loaf. Bake at 350 for 1 1/4 hours or until done. Spoon off the drippings and keep.. In saucepan over medium heat, heat remaining soup, water, and reserved drippings to boiling temp. After bubbly, spoon over meat.

15: Corn Casserole | Ingredients 1 (15 1/4 oz) can whole Kernel Corn, drained 1 (14 1/4 oz) can cream style corn 1 (8oz) package Jiffy corn muffin mix 1 cup sour cream 1/2 cup melted butter | Directions In a large bowl, stir together the two cans of corn, corn muffin mix, sour cream and butter. Pour into a greased casserole dish Bake at 350 for 45-60 minutes or until golden brown. | "Even if you are on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there." ~ Will Rogers

16: Sweet Potato Casserole | Ingredients 3 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes 2 eggs beaten 1/2 stick butter 1 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk 1/2 tsp salt | Directions Combine potatoes, sugar, eggs, milk, butter, salt, vanilla Spoon into baking dish. Bake at 350 for 35min. | Two can keep a secret when three of them are dead." ~ Benjamin Franklin

18: Desserts | Ingredients 2 packages (8oz each) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs 1/2 tsp vanilla 2/3 cup white chocolate chips, divided 1 ready to use chocolate flavor crumb crust (6oz or 9in) | Directions Mix cream cheese, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer until well blended. Add eggs, milk until blended. Stir in 1/3 cup of the white chocolate chips. Pour into crust. sprinkle with remaining white chocolate chips. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes or until center is almost set.. Cool. Refrigerate 3 hours or overnight | White Chocolate Cheesecake | I don't make jokes -- I just watch the government and report the facts." ~ Will Rogers

20: Walnut Snowballs | Ingredients 1/2 cup crisco 1/2 cup butter 1 tsp salt 2 tbsp vanilla 2 cups sifted flour 1/2 cup sugar 1 cup chopped walnuts | Directions Mix all ingredients. Form into balls. Bake at 325 for 25 min. Roll in powdered sugar after partially cooled. | Ingredients 1 pound brown sugar 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 2 tablespoons vanilla 1 pound butter, softened 6 cups presifted flour 3 eggs 1 1/2 teaspoons salt 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda 2 12-ounce packages chocolate chips 1 8-ounce cans walnuts, sliced or chopped Directions Preheat oven to 350. In a large bowl, beat eggs 4-5 minutes. Add sugars, vanilla, and butter, mixing thoroughly to combine. In a separate bowl, combine flour, salt and baking soda. Add to egg mixture. Stir in chocolate chips and walnuts. Line a cookie sheet with waxed paper and drop butter by ice-cream scoop onto paper. Bake about 15 min. 21: Angel Food Dessert | Ingredients 1 large Angel Food cake, broken into bite size pieces 1 (8oz) cream cheese, softened 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 cup milk Large container of cool whip 1 can Cherry pie filling | Directions Preheat Mix together the cream cheese, sugar and milk into the mixture. Fold in cool whip. Mix this with cake pieces. Put into 9x13 dish, and chill. Refrigerate for several hours or overnight. Add 1 can cherry pie filling over top when ready to serve. | Helpful hint: Good idea to have the can of pie filling chilled before putting on top of pie. | In the End, it's not the year's in your life that matter... But the Life in your Years. ~Abe Lincoln | No -Fail Fudge | Ingredients 1 tsp. plus 1/2 cup butter, softened 3 1/2 cups confectioners sugar 1/2 cup baking cocoa 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 cup milk 1 tsp vanilla extract 1 cup M&M miniature baking bits | Directions Line an 8in square pan with foil & grease the foil with 1 tsp butter; set aside. In a large bowl combine the confectioners sugar, cocoa & salt. Melt remaining butter, add milk and vanilla. Stir into sugar mixture until blended. Stir in M&M's. Immediately spread into prepared pan. Refrigerate until firm for about 2 hours.

22: Dirt Cake | Ingredients 1 - 1/2 lbs Oreo cookies, blend until fine 2 small boxes instant chocolate pudding 2 cups milk 1 (8oz) cool whip Mix pudding and milk then add cool whip. Mix and store in refrigerator. 1/2 stick margarine 1 8oz cream cheese 1 cup sugar | Directions Blend margarine and cream cheese. Add 11 cup sugar gradually until creamy. Blend 2 mixtures together. Layer in 8" flower pot 1/3 cookie crumbs 1/2 pudding mix 1/3 crumbs 1/2 pudding mix 1/3 cookie crumbs

23: Secret Family Recipe,Buttermilk Pie | Directions: 2 cups brown sugar 4 cups flour, sifted 1 cup shortening 1/2 tsp salt Rub together as pie dough. Take out 3/4 cup for sprinkling pies.. Add: 2 teaspoons soda 1 pt buttermilk Mix well. Pour into greased pie pan dusted with flour. then sprinkle dry mixture on top. Bake in 400 oven about 35min.
