FC: The Allens 2010

 It snows in Florida too!

"Dear Santa, I want one of everything!" | 2009

Quinn, James, Ilene, Emily, Joseph, Aiden, Zac, Everett, Eva, Else, Libby Mrs. Restle's 2 day young 3's | Marble Race is a BLAST! | He LOVES his bike!

We arrived at Granny's about 4pm and Zac hopped out of the car and raced into the snow as if he's done it a thousand times. The first thing he did was taste it??? Next it was snow bears, bunnies, and snow ball fights. He waltzed into Granny's as if he lived there! He said he wanted to stay there forever. Is this OUR son? The one who takes a week to "warm up" to new situations?

"Found A Peanut" | “I took the dinner picture because that way we could keep Granny here all the time.”

We had a blast sledding and shoveling and making snow angels. Zac also enjoyed playing Candyland & Dinosaur Extinct with his new captive audience (Aunt Susie & Ruth). He liked filling the bird feeders and watching the squirrels and chipmunks gather their share of the seeds. Luckily, Zac missed the hawk that swooped down for it's "fowl" meal. Aunt Susie explained bird of prey to Zac. The next day when he saw a bird stalking a chipmunk, he asked "Is that bird praying" Aunt Susie was awesome playing with Zac and doing art projects so that we actually relaxed during our visit. I had a great time sledding too and it was difficult for me to relinquish the sled to Zac. No hill was too tall for us, but Scott had some reservations, so that meant more sled time for me and Zac.

We enjoyed time with family and friends and Zac really liked the time that he got to spend with his Easter candy. He had a blast hunting, hiding, re-hiding, shaking & guessing what might be in each egg. We also enjoyed coloring the eggs and feeling Zac's excitement for each new event. Decorating his very own Easter Cookie House was a real treat too. | 2010

 ART

He created his first self portrait. I took a video while he narrated each body part and when he got to the feet he said these are my ballet slippers". On second glance, I see his tummy does look like a tutu. | Zac's class participated in an art show with Kandinski as their role model.

Zac really loves his Tinker toys. He makes something new everyday. He made a "pedal-powered helicopter" recently. Very reminiscent of Jules Verne. Marble Race is also a favorite around here. His creations are getting more elaborate and sometimes they stretch the length of the living room.

 Silly

LEMONADE Ingredients: Water 2 Eggs A leaf Some cucumber Salt Pepper Red Pepper (sounds YUMMMY) | "I don't like the way these grapes taste, but I do like how they feel in my mouth. So, I'll just put them in my mouth and then put them in this bowl for you to eat, Mom!"

So I asked Zac about his favorite part of the zoo today and he said, "I loved looking at the giraffe's with Lexie ... and that one almost licked Chloe on the head!" "And I LOOVVED that miss Lori gave me the cookie crumbs (luckily we know that she gave him a few cookies too). So I even let her take my picture. And Alex and I kissed right on the lips." He also like cheering the kids down the slide 'cause he could scream really loud. Later with Scott he said, "I liked playing tag with James and Alex, but I don't know if James liked playing with me 'cause he sat down?" "And Cole didn't want to see the birds, but Jack did and we held hands and were good listeners." "Until I pulled Lexie right off her feet and then she cried but she liked my Christmas present anyways." "And Alex got a motorcycle wheel from Santa, I bet it goes really fast! But not as fast as James's Harley bird ... he can ride that right on the ceiling." "And Jack and I played games in the 'cade and we each got 2 tickets." Which he produced from his pocket along with several leaves, a piece of string and some other thing that we can't identify. "There were fish there too. And I fed them and put them in a pan and grilled them for all of the people. There were 114 fish, but some of them were little so I saved them for the babies who ran out of baby food and I gave the big fish to big people." ..... And he was still rambling at bedtime.

"Hold your horse flies, Daddy - I'm catching a shark!"

 2010 Fathers Day tie.

"Can I have another snack - I used up my other one swimming!"

 Dress-up

"I'm on pause from taking my exercise."

Zac's Garden | Zac was so excited when his first sunflower bloomed that I thought Santa was in our backyard.

 Eating

"Mrs. Maria wanted to do something special for our class ... so she didn't come all day!" | "Uranus is my favorite planet because it is blue and beautiful."

"Mom, why do they send us mail that we just have to throw in the trash?" | "Mom, who made the car in front of us?" "GMC" "BOY, GMC sure makes slow cars!" | "Who is this card from?" "Zac, it's from Aunt Kathie - Daddy's sister." "The one who lives with the grandpa who can't calm himself down?" | "Mommy, I have a surprise for you ... You forgot to make your bed, so I did it for you."

More than a few years ago, cousin Scott taught me to play a card game called "war". A few months ago, Zac's great aunt Susie taught him the same game and renamed it "High-Low". We now play that game often and I usually picture the "boys bedroom" where we sat to play it in my youth. Funnily enough, I still have a dresser from that room (it's in the garage and holds tools). Not much has changed about the game ... I rarely won then and I rarely win now. That little Zac is a regular card shark. It's so cute to see him straighten his pile with his little hands and after he takes a few cards in a row he smiles and calls himself a "little scamp" (must be what Susie called him). Seeing him play cards reminds me of my brother Jackie. | "You and Daddy have the same color toe nail paint." When I looked down, I saw that I was not wearing any ... and thankfully, neither was daddy. | Recently, while at the bank exchanging coin for cash, the teller asked Zac, "Would you like some animal cards today?" His response, "No - I want the money!"

Summer trip to Ohio - chasing fire flies and learning to hula hoop.

Who wants cheese? | Swing so high you catch a grapefruit.

"Why did the bird say 'boo'?" "Why" "I don't know!" "Knock - Knock" "Whose there?" "Orange you glad I didn't say boo bang a bob?" | We got lost in the corn maze with Kristen and Michael. Luckily, Zac and Jack and Joseph could read the map and the clues!

Back Row: Mathew, Ilene, Emery, Layla, Luca, Denver Front Row: Joseph, Gabriel, Kyra, Libby, Quinn, Zac, Brooklyn

We baked home-made gingerbread for the family Christmas contest. Our theme was "Politically Correct Christmas" It contained the usual stable scene with Kwanza-wiseman (complete with afro), Star of David, and a Christmas tree - created by Zac. | 2010

"Got any scooters in that bag, Santa?"

Opening presents is fun! | CARS from Nick & Spencer | Not quite a can of Simonize | The guitar from Aunt Doris. | It took 7 hours to build that coaster! | Jammin'

Zac loved giving Mom her new robe!

 Santa brought a scooter.
