FC: "These three things endure-faith, hope and love. The greatest of these being love." ~1 Corinthians 13:13

"True love is eternal, infinite, and always like itself. It is equal and pure, without hurtful demonstrations: it is seen with white hairs and is always young in the heart." ~ Honore de Balzac

"If you look deeply into the palm of your hand, you will see your parents and all generations of your ancestors. All of them are alive in this moment. Each is present in your body. You are the continuation of each of these people." ~Thich Nhat Hanh

"The life of a man is a circle from childhood to childhood." ~Black Elce, Oglala Sioux | "Being the first born child, he always had the advantages; being Mom's favorite and the twinkle in Dad's eye. But I was the better looking, and on most occasions was much brighter. He was still my big brother. And, my hero." ~Bob

"Notice how close her hands are to actually touching the fish?" ~Pat | "Did you realize that when you married your Prince or Princess Charming, you inherited the King, Queen, and the whole Court?" -David Stoop | "I knew Georgia before she attended college and met Jerry. Georgia Achen was one of my very best friends growing up down on Evergreen Highway in Vancouver. I first met her in the sixth grade and we rode the school bus together until graduation. Georgia lived about 2 miles away from me, so we didn't often play together outside of school, but she and and Sharon Jenkinson were the two girlfriends I had from school that lived closest to me and we did get together when one of us was willing to walk the distance. I remember sharing seats on the bus with Georgia and being in scouts together. One incident I recall was on a camp out and Camp Julianna. Somebody had run someone's underwear up the flag pole the night before and we were all standing around inspecting the handiwork. I think it may even may have been Georgia and I who did the deed, and Fran Peklay was the poor soul who then had to thaw out her underwear before dressing that morning. We were all good kids and this was about as racy as it got! Back then just having anyone see your underwear was embarrassing, let alone flying it for all to see from a flag pole. Even if it was all girls. I also have fond memories of attending track meets to watch her compete, we were all so proud of her, she was and amazing athlete." ~ Cindy

"Some people were just destined to be together, that's just the way it is." ~Amy Davis

"Sometimes the heart sees what is invisible to the eye." ~ H.Jackson Brown Jr. | "One weekend night Jerry and I were out doing what we did best on weekend nights with a few dollars; we drank copious quantities of cheap beer, probably Lucky Lager or some similar swill, and then started looking around to see if any girls were interested in a couple of reasonably drunk guys. We did this about 2 nights a week on a real regular schedule, it kept Jerry from getting straight A's. As usual, success with the girls was nonexistent early in that particular evening (like most) so somehow we ended up at the Student Union Building on campus where we decided some solids were in order. I can't remember what Jerry ordered but for some reason I bought an ice cream cone. I can't remember which flavor went best with beer. As we were standing in a short line to pay for the food I managed to drop the ice cream out of my cone onto the floor which was actually quite tragic, as I was undoubtedly out of money by then. Three or four nice looking girls were standing nearby and saw this and thought it was quite amusing. I can't remember if I scooped it up off the floor, got another scoop, or just gave up and ate the cone but it provided an opening and Jerry swooped right in, probably trying to explain how it was just a coincidence that he was standing next to the idiot who couldn't keep his ice cream on the cone. The rest is history. Jerry played his cards right and Georgia became a regular fixture and I had to begin developing some other drinking buddies." ~Dick

"The heart has it's reasons of which reason knows nothing" ~Blaise Pascal | "During Jerry's college days in Bellingham, I got to go stay with him for a few days, hopefully to educate me about women, drinking and manly things. After all I was a high school stud now. While I was there, he introduced me to (his then girlfriend) Georgia. He was still big brother, until he got around that girl, and then something changed. Can't tell you what, he was just different. Like he was in church or something." ~Bob | "Jerry had painted his really cool, antique truck this beautiful cheery, sky-blue and after much pacing and talking to me, he let me (help) paint a little black pinstripe down either side. Which I am sure was a heart-pounder for him!" ~Heather

"I have found the one whom my soul loves" ~Song of Solomon 3:4

"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with somebody, you want the rest of your life to start as soon as possible." ~Nora Ephron

"Life is either a great adventure or nothing." ~Helen Keller

"I remember when they came back from their trip around the world and they lived with us for a little bit. Jerry would leave for work and I'd sneak into bed with Georgia and we'd play tea party under the covers." ~Anita | "A man travels the world over in search of what he needs and returns home to find it." ~George Moore

Hobbies and Habits... | "Who forgot to make the Stehekin reservations? Who didn't pay for breakfast at the ranch? Who was hunted down by the local 'ranger' because we rode off on our bikes without paying? (Tonya and Michelle said they'd never go anywhere with any of us again.) Mike lost his favorite cap in Lake Chelan and our car's AC went out on the way home. Wonderful trips with our best friends!" ~Mike and Penni | "We had so much fun rafting with Jerry and Georgia. The year they took the drift boat was the drift boat was the worst! The first day wasn't bad, but the next day the wind was blowing so hard against us that it made it hard for the guys to maneuver the rafts. Jerry was especially having a hard time with his drift boat. He'd get a little ahead then the wind would blow them back. He ended up going to shore and tied a long rope tot he front of the boat. He walked the boat, with Georgia inside along the terribly rocky shoreline. Out of all our years of rafting we never had bad wind like that again. It was also the last year Jerry brought the drift boat!" ~Nona | "Jerry was here in the Spring with all his cameras, etc... He got up early one morning while I was in the kitchen getting some coffee. He asked is we had any wild animals around. I said only a few small possums. Well, he looked out the patio doors and saw a HUGE possum walking along top of the fence. So...he grabbed his camera and out the door he goes only in his night shorts and t-shirt-no shoes. About then Theresa came out, in her P.J.'s! Out with Jerry she went! Jerry was trying to get the huge possum to pose while Theresa was throwing rocks at it growl and show it's teeth. This was a sight to behold. Jerry got lots of pictures and we all had good laughs." ~Ken

"Spring time...Friday night...7pm...the phone call. "Hi Bob, want to go for a canoe ride? Georgia is sick and can't go. I need a partner. We leave tomorrow at 3 am. We are going down the Palouse River." (white water danger on a scale of 1 to 10; the Palouse in the Spring time is a 15 1/2) Sick, yeah right! Georgia know all along it was a 15 1/2. Smart girl that one! We were in the water, sitting int he canoe by 5:30am. By 5:35, I was wet up to my chin! I didn't know a canoe tipped so easy. That was probably the most boring part of the day; things went downhill from there. I had 4 orders to obey while in the canoe; forward stroke right, forward stroke left. back stroke, and hang on. She have been 5 orders, he neglected to add PRAY! Between boilers, back ebbys, waterfalls, and boulders it was quite a day! I swear I heard and Indian on the shore muttering something about it being a long summer; white man crazy this year! We were out of the water and home by 11pm. Still wet, but home and in one piece, thanks to my big brother. Yeah, my hero! Thanks for your help on this one Georgia!!" ~Bob | "Do we really miss those canoing days? Those trips always filled with surprises around the bend?? Like the time Georgia and I put in the water about 45 min after the guys only to catch up with them upriver along the shores of the Columbia...HOW COULD THIS BE? Perhaps the topless sunbathers along the shore was the reason for the sudden lack of paddling stamina? And then there was the trip from H---! The opening of the upper part of the Columbia through the Hanford area. We were all so excited about the new portion of the river to canoe and Georgia was very prepared and eager to photo shoot the wildlife along the shores, sooooo we crisscrossed from one side of the river to the next as the next glimpse of wildlife always seemed to be on the other side of the river! Wow, what pictures she was getting from all our paddling efforts, til after some time Georgia questioned why her camera wasn't yet needing a new roll of film...BECAUSE...she found that during this incredibly lengthy photo shoot...there was no film in the camera!!! Smile! Why, oh why, did those digital cameras take so long int he development?? And then there was the Palouse River canoe trip, but I will leave that brush with the falls for another to share! These memories are but a smidgeon to reflect on, experienced with a couple that shows us all what the essence of a great relationship can be." ~Jan | "A friend is someone who is there for you when he'd rather be anywhere else." ~ Len Wein

"If there is such a thing as a good marriage, it is because it resembles friendship rather than love." ~Michel de Montaigne | "Jerry and Georgia have been a delightful part of my life now for many, many years! We met when they first started attending the Cathedral of Joy. One of my great memories is the very special friendship that they had with my parents. They were together as part of a Bible Study. Jerry and Georgia just clicked with a delightful and encouraging relationship with Mom and Dad all those years. I'll never forget that even to the very last days of my parents' lives they would light up with joy whenever they told 'remember when' stories of Jerry and Georgia." ~Marty | "Jerry and Georgia are so very special. They are special in their love for each other, for their love for you and your family, and for everyone they come in contact with. We met Jerry and Georgia in a Bible study at the then Cathedral of the Desert, over 20 years ago. Later the Bible study moved to our home. We met there for years. Over the years our lives have stayed intertwined and in recent years they have become our neighbors. Jerry shoveled our snow ans we exchanged vegetables when we each obtained more than we could use. Recently, Jake passed away and Jerry and Georgia have done a super job helping look out for our home and me." ~Helen

"When I think of Jerry and Georgia I think of apples, apples, and more apples. Back on the porch making juice...I made tons of applesauce! I remember one time telling Georgia about how my mom and her family always made Apple Potica in Minnesota. I had never made it, but had watched my mom, and remembered that it took a good part of the day. Georgia said, "Sure, let's try it." So we did at their house. It took us a long time. We baked it and it turned out perfect. Jerry came home from work and Georgia said, "Jer, try this." He gulped it down and walked away. She hollered "Hey, you gotta make a bigger deal our of it then that, it took all day to make!" It was pretty funny..." ~ Donna | "At one point Jerry and Georgia decided it was time to become farmers. Lord knows why...the only thing Jerry had ever grown was fear in the hear of his smart, better looking little brother (me!). Jerry bought an 800 acre (or so it seemed) apple orchard and soon decided that was not enough. MORE IS BETTER! He ordered up some monstrosity hybrid apple trees with grave vine roots, oak tree trunks, pine needle limbs, and cactus pulp for their guts (not sure on the accuracy of all that, but it was something really weird!) He couldn't get just 10 or 20 of them, OH NO, he got 5,203 of the dang things. Then...invited me to come help plant them! Yes sir, my big brother Jerry. My hero!" ~Bob | "What counts in making a happy marriage is not so much how compatible you are, but how you deal with incompatibility." ~Leo Tolstoy
