S: Our European Vacation 2010
BC: 2010 | Paris was beautiful! We rode the Metro, saw all of the sights, and shopped a lot. Disneyland was great, too! It was hot, hot, hot! | London was fun! We took a day trip to Stonehenge, rode the Underground, and saw everything from the London Eye! We spent every pound. | Roma was the best! Everything is so old and beautiful. We tried at least 10 gelato flavors. The Trevi Fountain and Colosseum were amazing! Our hotel was great! | Written by Jodie Photographs by Jodie, Jocelyn, and Hayley

After an overnight flight and a bus ride past neighborhoods right out of Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, we made it to Victoria Coach Station and the Sydney Hotel. After months of research and planning we were finally there!
The London Bobby was more than happy to have his picture taken with all of the tourists. | Look, Kids... Big Ben, Parliament! | The sights were just a 15 minute walk down a "sweet street" as the hotel clerk put it.
We spent the day seeing the sights in London. | Buckingham Palace | 10 Downing Street | Westminster Abbey | Trafalgar Square
We were off on a Golden Tours day trip. The guard at Windsor Castle is real and the flag means the queens is in. Just back from her trip to... NYC! In Bath, the tour of the baths was interesting, but the town was so quaint that we enjoyed just wandering. | WINDSOR CASTLE, BATH, and ...
We had lunch at an English pub with, luckily, some American "like" choices. | STONEHENGE! | Awe or rocks in a field? I'm not sure, but they were big!
We spent the day on the hot and crowded Underground. We started at the Tower of London and Tower Bridge. The London Eye "queue" was short! I did a lot of reading, due to a healthy fear of heights, and everyone was right... it wasn't scary! | The London Eye | The Tower Bridge | River Thames
After another day in London we had to pack because we had very early Eurostar tickets to ... PARIS! | Hyde Park | Chinatown at Piccadilly Circus
We rode the Eurostar through the Chunnel and made it to Gare du Nord. We rode the very crowded Metro and found the Hotel Paris Bastille with just a little help! | Cathedrale Notre Dame | We climbed the 400 steps to the bell tower!
We had a hard time locating the Louvre entrance, but we should have known where it was when we saw the gypsies. We found Mona and Venus and then soaked our feet in the fountain before heading back to the hotel. | Musee du Louvre
We rode the Metro to La Tour Eiffel. We got there when it opened and only waited 30 minutes. We didn't summit due to that healthy fear of heights. We rode up to the 2nd level and then decided to take the stairs down. | La Tour Eiffel
We spent the day seeing the sights of Paris! | Basilique du Sacre-Coeur | Arc du Triomphe | Seine River | Avenue des Champs Elysees | Our favorite boulangerie
Disneyland Paris | We rode some of our favorites and Crush's Coaster, which is only at Parc Walt Disney Studios in Paris. Don't let the cute turtle shells you sit in fool you... it spins, shoots, dips, and drops very quickly!
We waited in a long line in the very hot sun, but we got our picture. Here they are... The Princesses and the Frog | We packed for an early morning flight to ... ROMA!
After arriving in Roma late, due to a lightning storm in Paris, we checked into Hotel Regno. It could not be in a better location. We made our first of many stops at Fontana di Trevi. You hear it before you see it and it's beautiful! We went to Piazza Navona, too. | Piazza Navona | Fontana di Trevi
We spent the day seeing the sights of Roma! Then we went back to the Fontana di Trevi at night. This was not an original idea. Half of Roma was there! | Piazza di Spagna | Pantheon | Monumento a Vittorio Emmanuele II | Fontana di Trevi
The Colosseo was just a 15 minute walk. We got there when it opened and only waited in a 10 minute line. To see it is to believe it and it is AMAZING! | Colosseo
We walked all around the Palatine Hill and Roman Forum area. | Basilica di Santa Maria in Cosmedin | La Bocca della Verita "The Mouth of Truth" | Arco di Constantino
Citte del Vaticano and Basilica di San Pietro | Tiber River | More walking in the very hot sun. All the way to...
Ciao Roma! Good-bye Europe! | Fontana di Trevi | The last of many stops! We couldn't get enough of it!
WHAT WE LEARNED... In London: The flowers are beautiful Everyone smokes Street names change, literally, every block "Mind the Gap" Traffic comes from the wrong direction There are no bugs Fanta Orange is yellow A traditional English breakfast means you'll be eating a lot of toast In Paris: There are no cold drinks or ice Warm drinks are very expensive Stretch pants and sensible sandals are in More Fanta Orange, but it's orange Even street bums speak in beautiful french Still no bugs The gypsies are AWFUL You can't understand french even when they repeat it louder In Roma: There are no cats They have ice The Fanta Orange addiction is continental Gelato is awesome Still no bugs Knock off goods are sold at better than NYC prices Lots of men with satchels and a few with purses Old is BEAUTIFUL!
