My name is Lainee Gibson. I am 18 years young and a senior at Mount Pleasant High School. I would like to think of my life as a happy and a successful one. I know it has definitely been a memorable one. The first thing that comes to my mind when I think back on my life is my family. They mean the world to me. They represent the part of my life that I love the most. I think about my mom and dad, and also my dogs. My dad has been the part of my life that I can always count on. Whether he is sending me a text to tell me to have a good day or helping me fold my clothes when I have had a long day at school. | T H O U G H T S
In life I have tried to keep my head on straight, and to do this I have to have good values. I try not to care what other people think about me and I try to do my own thing no matter what other people believe about it. I also go with the quote “honesty is the best policy”. If you are honest with a person then you do not have to worry about them catching you in a lie or them being mad at you. You can never get in trouble if you tell the truth. My life has been a memorable one. The people have made it a great one. Life is good. | He has always been there. My mom, even though she is always the bad guy, I know that she is always looking out for my best interest. I may get mad at her for not letting me go somewhere, or for telling me no, but now that I look back on it. . . she was always right. I would be in a whole lot of trouble if it was not for her. My dogs, believe it or not, have been there to help me a lot. If I am ever in a bad mood they are always there to greet me with a slobbery smile.
I wonder why people talk in texting terms when it is just as easy to say the actual word. | I wonder why people choose to pick on their peers just to upset them. | I wonder why some people are so dependent upon their girlfriend or boyfriend. | I wonder why people are so unhappy with their lives that they feel the need to commit suicide. | I wonder why killers murder people. | I wonder why some couples say "I love you” after a week of dating.
I wonder why I have to go to school from kindergarten through 12th grade. | I wonder why people drink and drive. | I wonder what makes people gay and lesbian. | I wonder why African Americans have a different skin color. | I wonder why we don't have a medicine to cure all diseases. | I wonder why some people constantly backstab their friends.
People say that a picture is worth a thousand words. So, how many words is a collage of pictures worth? High school has been filled with tons of memories, good and bad. This abundance of pictures tells the whole entire story. They tell the good the bad, the happy and even the sad. They show all the highlights of my high school career. A lot of my pictures are pictures of my friends and of my family, or a picture of me doing something I love. Throughout the entire collage I have pictures of me doing theatre. Theatre is something that I have done all four years of my high school career. I have met so many new people. Most of my best friends I met in the theatre. Over the four years we have created quite the little family. Everyone in there has made a huge impact on my life and I have to admit that I would not have made it through high school without them. 1984 was my very first lead role in a play. It was not a huge role but it was my first speaking role. Another play picture is one from “Willy Wonka”. I was one of the main characters and I had a solo. It just proved to me that all that hard work those four years paid off.
Also in my collage I have pictures of my mom and dad. They have been my rock and my support. If I ever have drama going on at school or if there is ever something going wrong, I know that they were there for me. Sometimes we may act like we hate each other but I know that they only are looking out for my best interest. In a few of the pictures I have my boyfriend. He has been a huge part of my life the last year and I have to say that I would not know who I would have talked to if he was not around. He is one of my best friends. This collage of pictures shows pretty much my entire four years. All the goals I had reached and all the good times I had. It is pretty nice to get to look back on them. | COLLAGE WRITE UP...!
Regret . . . | As I have grown these 18 years I have made a lot of mistakes, and I have had many great memories. There really is not one thing that I would take back. There is no regret that I actually regret enough to go back and change if I could. Of course I am sure you have read 17 other regret papers that have said the same thing, but all those bad mistakes and regrets have lead me to where I am today. And today I am pretty happy. But if you are going to make me change at least one thing, I guess I can think of something. | If I had to change one thing about my past, it would be me letting other people get to me. All through life I have cared way too much about what people think about me. I would care if they didn’t like the shirt I was wearing, or if they would like the friends I was hanging out with. I pretty much let my peers run my life. I remember an incident my freshman year when I made fun of my best friend just because this “popular” girl was making fun of her. I realize now that when I did that it made me look like an idiot for not standing up for her. I felt horrible and regretted it later, but I learned from it. I would not take back doing that
awful thing because it taught me a lesson that I still use to this day. For about 11 years I let people tell me how to live my life, and tell me what was cool and not cool. But then something changed. I met someone who completely changed my life. He taught me that I am perfect the way I am and that I shouldn’t care what people think. At first I thought that he was crazy and that what he said didn't matter, but then he told me something. He told me the quote “those who matter don’t mind, and those who mind don’t matter”. For some reason that really stuck with me and I say that quote anytime I am feeling a little bad about myself. Like I said, there is no big mistake that I regret enough to go back in life and change because I have learned from everything. I am a better person now due to all lessons I have learned.
As I leave this place called high school you are just now entering. You are about to embark on your journey. It is full of memories, regrets, and good times that you will remember for the rest of your life. | Freshman year. You are going to have a mix of emotions running through your body. You are going to be nervous seeing all of the seniors walking around like they own the place, but odds are they are just as nervous on their first day. You are going to be excited for all the new friends you are going to make and to meet all your new teachers. Be excited, you deserve it. You deserve all the freedom you have worked for over those eight years. Get to know people and join a club. Freshman year is when I joined the theatre and that was the best decision I have ever made. That’s where I made my little theatre family that I love. I honestly don’t know where I would be if I would have not have joined the theatre department. | Sophomore year. This is the year that you are going to feel more comfortable in your shell. You will no longer be called “stupid freshman” or “fresh meat”. You are going to have a little bit more power than you did. This is the year that I recommend you start working on your college stuff. Though it may seem extremely early and you may think that you have two more years to do it, you need to start it NOW! Trust me, senior year comes fast and college is a lot more expensive than you think. Scholarships need to be your life this year.
Senior year. This is it. Everything you have been working for. You know where you’re going to college, and you somewhat know what your future looks like. Don’t let senioritis get the best of you, even though no matter what it probably is still going to happen. It is inevitable. But pretty much, senior year is to enjoy. Lay back, enjoy your last few months, and do everything you want to. You are going to remember this for the rest of your life. | Junior year. You are almost done. This is going to be your hardest year school work wise. Don’t give up, keep on truckin. This is going to be the year that counts the most. Keep your grades up and stay positive. Be more ambitious. Try out for more lead roles and be a leader in something. Go for it.
I feel happiest of all when I am camping with my family and friends. | Some people seem to only want to be my friend to use me. | People can hurt my feelings most by talking bad about me behind my back. | I get angry when people mistreat animals. | My major goal in life is to become a mother with a happy successful family. | The greatest crime one man can do toward another is breaking down a person’s dignity. | My greatest fear is being kidnapped.
If I could have one wish, it would be to have fairy god parents to grant my every wish. | My greatest weakness is that I wear my emotions on my sleeve. | My greatest strength is that I have a great sense of humor. | If I could do one thing to improve mankind, it would be to end world hunger and to give all the homeless people a place to live. | The thing I would most want to be remembered for after leaving highschool is being a theatre kid all four years. | If I could change one thing about myself it would be that I didn’t take everthing to heart. | If I could talk to one person from the past, it would be my grandfather who died before I was born. | If I could interview anyone in the world it would be Sandra Bullock, because she is very inspirational.
Gotta hold on easy as I let you go Gonna tell you how much I love you Though you think you already know I remember I thought you looked like an angel Wrapped in pink, so soft and warm You've had me wrapped around your finger Since the day you were born You beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road That'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl When you were in trouble that crooked little smile Could melt my heart of stone Now look at you, I've turned around And you've almost grown | "My Little Girl" Tim McGraw
Sometimes you're asleep I whisper 'I love you' In the moonlight at your door As I walk away, I hear you say "Daddy, love you more" You beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road That'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl Someday, some boy will come And ask me for your hand But I won't say yes to him unless I know He's the half that makes you whole He has a poet's soul, and the heart of a man's man I know he'll say that he's in love But between you and me He won't be good enough You beautiful baby from the outside in Chase your dreams but always know the road That'll lead you home again Go on, take on this whole world But to me you know you'll always be, my little girl
Out of any song in the world the one that means the most to me is “My Little Girl” by Tim McGraw. It means so much to me because my dad is my hero in life. Every time I hear it I cry and think about how grateful I am to have such a great father. He is the kindest and sweetest man that has ever walked the face of the planet. Well, I guess I am a little bias, but he is still pretty great. My dad has gone through so much in his life to be where he is now. He started racing cars in his local town in Florida, and now he is a crew chief in Nascar. | Song Reflection
He had to work to get where he is today. Now I know that if he can do it, I can do anything. And I can be as I successful as I want to be. That is one thing he has taught me over the years. He has said that sometimes you are not going to get what you want, but eventually things will work out the way they need to be. My dad is not home a lot because he is working out of town to support our family, but I am always missing him and thinking about him. That is why this song is so meaningful to me.

The fictional character I chose that most resembled me was Flounder from The Little Mermaid. We are alike in many ways both physical and personality wise. Physically, Flounder and I have the same chubby cheeks. Also, we also are always smiling, unless we are worried about something. Which can be quite often. That is another way of how Flounder and I are the similar. Both of us are worry warts. I am constantly worrying about the bad things that could happen in a situation. Sometimes I even let it get in the way of doing something fun, because I am too concerned with the consequences that could happen. Throughout the movie Flounder is always looking out for his best friend Ariel. I am just like that. I am always on the look out for my friends. I always try to make them feel better when they are down and if they are ever making a bad decision I try to get them to do otherwise.
Fun is something you need to make your life worth living. | Love is what makes a house a home. | Faith is what keeps me going throughout my life. | Ambition is the key to my future. | Hate is the going to be the worlds downfall. | Anger is an emotion that I try to hide. | Pride is what I hope my parents have for me. | Money can be a mans worst enemy. | Work is something that you need to succeed in life. | Family is what has gotten me through my life. | My Philosophy . . .
Society is what we live in everyday. | Friends are a gift you can treasure forever. | Schools are the main portal to our future. | Religion is something that everyone should possess, it gives them something to believe in. | Death is my biggest fear. | Marriage is one of my biggest goals in life. | Education can be difficult, but it will be worth it. | Future is something that scares me but excites me at the same time. | Desire is something that you should go through life having. | Dishonesty is very common and one of my biggest pet peeves.
"Don't judge a portrait that hasn't been finished." - Trevor Barrett | about the other person. I learned a lesson in middle school kind of like that. I am not proud to admit this, but in middle school I made fun of this boy in my class who read slowly. Well, it turns out that he had trouble reading out loud, and he was taking special classes to help him. I felt horrible but, ever since then I am very careful with how I look at people. That is how this quote has value to me, it explains the lesson that I learned in middle school. | This quote means a lot to me. It really bothers me when people judge others. Of course we all do it, but it really gets under my skin. First of all the | person judging probably knows nothing | QUOTES!
"Don't worry about the people in your past. There is a reason they didn't make it to your future." | Not only through high school, but also through life in general. I have lost people. Not due to death, but either because they were bad friends or because they treated me badly. Unfortunately this happens a lot to me. I have lost a lot of people, but one person in particular I hate that I lost him the most. He was my best friend. We did anything and everything together. Well, when I started dating my boyfriend he became really jealous and we just decided to stop being friends. In ended in a not so nice way, but I still miss him. So sometimes whenever I feel sad or am thinking about him I look at this quote and realize that there is a reason why he didn’t make it to my future.
"I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best." — Marilyn Monroe | I wanted to be just like them and I wanted to be in their group at school. So I ended up changing my attitude, the | This quote is a rule that I live by every since my freshman year in high school. There was an incident with a group of people. They were, of course, popular and they thought that | they were the coolest people to walk to the face of the planet. | way I dressed, the way I did my hair. Everything. I changed everything about me. They let me hang out with them, but after the initial shock of my being involved with them wore off I realized that they were using me. Ever since then I have said that if you don’t like me for who I am then that’s your loss, not mine. Now I have great friends that truly care about me.
“Live the life you want to live. Be the person you want to remember. Make decisions, make mistakes. If you fail, at least you tried.” — Anonymous | mistakes you could make. Even though I do sometimes, life could be so much more enjoyable if you don’t | This quote is a saying that everyone should live by. Even though some people don’t, it would make people’s lives much more enjoyable. This is so important to live by because if you live the life that you want to live then you will never have any regrets. It is also is a good reminder to yourself to be a good person, because you never know who is going to remember you. So you need to be a person worth remembering. In life | you should not go through life worrying about possible | worry. The last sentence is my absolute favorite because it means the most to me. If something ever goes wrong you have to remember that even if you failed you at least tried and made an attempt. All of those lines make life worth living.
The show must go on. | This quote is pretty cool because it relates to life, but it is also a quote used in theatre. Which I am very involved in. The quote relates to real life because even if something is going wrong in your life you have to remember that the show must go on. Also, if there is ever a challenging moment this quote can help you get through it. You always have to remember that the show must go on.
