To my love, Irene, I simply can't believe how fast the years rolled by to reach this magic milestone of your fiftieth birthday. I can only hope that the next fifty years will roll past us at a slower pace, so that we can have time to take in and appreciate what we have together. I can still vividly remember meeting the mature, stunning, teenage Irene on the 20th of February 1978 at Aunty Lilli's place at Coogee. I applaud your audacity in tricking me into thinking that you were a lot older than your sixteen years of young age and your accepting, without a hint of hesitation, my invitation to drive my Bathurst Special Supercar Torana SLR 5000 L34 (which many experienced drivers would find difficult to handle) through the busy main Roads of Kensington, that same day. From that fateful day, we grew closer and closer together until we became virtually inseparable. I cherish the memory of our engagement on the 17th of June 1978 with the huge celebration party that followed that evening, followed by our wedding on the 18th of November 1978 and the wonderful time we spent during our honeymoon on Dunk Island. When you look at the short span of time, it certainly looks like a "Shotgun wedding", but thank God Chris was not born until the 25th of February 1980, which was a safe fifteen months later !! Of course, we kept on practising to make more kids and this resulted in Stephen being born on the 27th of March 1982, Andrew on the 1st of July 1984 and Mandi on the 23rd of February 1989. All these dates are embedded in my otherwise waining memory because of the unforgettable miracle of nature I witnessed during every single birth, helping you and the doctors to deliver each baby. During the past thirty three years since we met, I have never stopped loving you, not for a split second. On the contrary, my love for you has always steadily grown with time and the way we endured hard times, sometimes almost impossible times, to reach what we share today and looking forward to what the future holds for us, of which I am absolutely positive that we can climb the highest of mountains hand in hand and leaning on each other. I Adore you. Your hubbie Mark (Didi)

 Your smile brightens my day

"A mother holds your hand for a while, but holds your heart forever."

HAPPY 50TH BIRTHDAY MUM! Congratulations to the best mum in the world for reaching a half century and making it look so easy! When Mandi had an idea to create a book of letters and notes from everyone who loves you, I thought it was a fantastic idea. And then I thought to myself I have never been good at putting my thoughts and feelings on paper, but for such a special occasion I had to give it go. You're the BEST mum a son could ever ask for! Thanks for always being there for us kids, through the good times and the bad. I love you so much and am so very proud to be your son. You and Dad have both done such a great job as parents bringing up the four of us kids, always putting us first and giving us the freedom, opportunity and support to follow our hearts and dreams. Thank you so much for the hugs and kisses that make us feel loved and feel safe, for the memories and the experiences that will stay with us forever, and for the laughter and the tears that we have all shared as a family over the years. I wish you a very happy 50th birthday and hope you enjoy the next half century as much as the first! Love always Your 1st and favourite!

Dear mummy, Today I am a 29 year old who has a great job, a wonderful girlfriend and an absolutely amazing son who we all love and adore, who would of thought huh? :) I also have 2 brothers Chris and Andrew and 1 sister who have all made something of them selves. But this isn't about me its about you. And all this couldn't have happened without you. I must say I didn't really like how strict you were when I was young but now I am grateful for it because that fork in the road you always spoke about well I reckon I took the right road. And its because of you. Let's look back at a few things that helped me get there :). I remember you taking me to the police station. You throwing a shoe at me Giving me chores on school holidays Grounding me when I had a hickey ;) (thanks to Aunty Yvette) Not letting me hang out with Bubble Head That's only a few though I'm sure there were many others. But you did all that because the love you had for me and the rest of the family. You always did everything for us, sometime complaining :) but overall you did it all. You have always been there for me to fall back on. Always there for me to share my problems and somehow you always came up with a solution that would always make everything better. You are not only my mum but your also my best friend who I can trust and always rely on. Your the best Mum anyone could ever ask for and I'm so lucky your mine. So I want to say thank you and I appreciate it but that doesn't mean all of the above stops now. I love you and I hope you have had a great birthday. Love always You know who it is. Ps. Thanks for drinking out of my cup.

To my dearest Irene (mum) , Ever since I can remember, you have been my rock, my guide and above all, my friend. When I was young, you taught me the core values of which I have and will carry with me through life. To treat others how you want them to treat you. To trust in those deserving of trust. To respect everyone, even if they don’t respect you back. To love unconditionally the people who are closest to you in life. As I grew older you showed me what ‘discipline’ meant. I praise the work you put in to raising 3 boys and a girl and when we got out of line, you sure let us know about it!! Although I must say, even though you got your point across, your methods of discipline that were supposed to be painful for us, were more of a laugh than anything Now I see you as my best friend. Words cannot describe the amount of respect I have for you in everything you have done for all of us throughout our lives. If I am half as good a parent and friend to my children one day, I will be a very happy man. Even though I have middle child syndrome (lol), you are still a mum that any child would be lucky to have! Thank you mum, for everything. I know we all don’t say it enough, but we love you so much! Happy 50th birthday! The first 50 years of your life have been in service to your family. May the next 50 years of your life be about you and dad. All my love, Andrew

Daughters are little girls that grow up to be your best friend...

To My Dear Mum, First of all I'll start off by saying happy 50th Birthday! Although you are half way to a century, you don't look a year older 25. Ever since I can remember, you have been my rock, my best friend and my guidance. You have showed me wrong from right. You have taught me so much in my 22 years and words cannot express how appreciative I am. As we were growing up, you gave me everything. Any time I needed somebody to talk to, you were always the first to put your hand up. I admire you for raising four children and making it look easy. Having a mother like you while growing up was the greatest gift and biggest advantage anyone could ever have given me. It is because of the confidence and values that you instilled in me that made me who I am today. Thank you for shaping me into a person who I like and am proud to be. Thank you for making us believe that we could be whoever we wanted to be, do whatever we wanted to do and that there are no limitations. I’m sure you’ve watched me walk into situations that you knew were going to hurt, but the thing that lets me know how much you care is that you let me go into them. Had I been totally sheltered from life I’d never learn, and when life pushed me around you always gave me your shoulder and ear, and the strength to push back. I’ve always pulled through. I feel as though I take you for granted sometimes, and maybe you even take yourself for granted, but I want you to know that everything you do for me never goes unnoticed and I appreciate it all. You sacrificed your whole life for your children. You are my role model. I am sorry if I gave you a hard time but I know your guidance has helped me all through life. You played the part of a mother, father and unknowingly, a guardian angel. You're the most admired and respected person in the world. If I could be half as good a mother to my children as you are to your children, I will have done exceptionally well. I love you mum. Your one and only daughter

 I Love you Teta

 Livin life to the fullest!

Our Growing Years Infant Most kids our age had dolls, teddy bears and toys growing up; We had each other Child Most kids our age had friends to play with, sleepovers and bikes We had each other To travel to a strange new country, Australia; To learn a new language To eat different foods (vegemite and watermelon jam sandwiches) To share; To play; To chase; To tease; To laugh and cry Adolescent Most kids our age had cool bikes, went to the movies, had boyfriends and wild parties We had each other To share our secrets; Our bed; Our clothes (mainly yours I know); And our growing years Adulthood Most kids our age learnt to drive, had their own cars, more boyfriends, went to live concerts and travelled the world. You found the love of your life, Mark who swept you off your feet and even though he came along, we still had each other and shared great times exploring Array of restaurants; Live shows; Good wine; Movies; Outings; And awesome holidays Growing up I thought we mised out on alot however looking back on these precious moments we shared, I can see that we created a bond that is so precious and will always be cherished. 25: Dear Irene On your birthday count the candles, count the years and count your blessings. You will find at least 50 of each.... Thanks for being my big sister. You have been my adviser on many times - through thick and thin. You gave me hope when things were bleak, you supported me through celebration milestones. I look back and you were a young version of my mum when I was younger. your maternal instincts are evident. You give enough guidance and love to provide your children with confidence and still enough breathing space so kids live their lives. That parenting is a true art that you devote so much energy to. Now that we are both older our sister relationship keeps blooming. Whilst life whizzes us by you still have the energy to extract all that is meaningful from life. Your biggest asset is your genuine love for people. You are hospitable . It is the home to drop in for a party, how many christenings, birthdays, engagements, weddings, soccer/football finals, have you hosted? It's the house to drop in for a tea/ must be liptons biggest customer. Infact some of us liked your hospitality so much we moved in. But that's another story. You are ethical, moral and hold strong standards of how you want to live your life. You are courageous - hey you married at 17 to a racing driver. You love an ordered life. You have more cleaning tips than Shannon Lush. You are the Egyptian version of the stunning celebrity chef Nigella Lawson...I'm sure you could give her a run for her money on the cooking and even on the bra sizes. Most of all you're still gorgeous. You have a smile that lightens up a room. You are so well groomed all of the time. Have you ever worn unironed clothes? As for your passion for shoes well that is a little history repeating. Enjoy celebrating your 50 years and oh what a milestone. Love You big sister Lots of Love, Julie

To my dear aunty irene :) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!! Let me just start by saying...CONGRATS! u made it! haha :P Just kidding. I hope you have the most amazing birthday, surrounded by all who are closest with you, love you so much, and hold you close to their hearts. Irene, you are one of the strongest people i know. You love and adore your family and take care of everyone that steps into your life. Alike mum, i hope i can be half the person you are. I am so thankful that i have the most amazing cousins. Growing up with the Kelada's would have to be the best gift, and thats thanks to you. Even though, Mandi and Tonya would always leave me out, or make me the guinea pig in every game id always run to you and you'd always make me feel like it was ok to be the youngest. :) i love you so much aunty irene, and i know if ever im in trouble the only person right to turn to, would be you. Enjoy your birthday, Love you so much and God bless always xox Alexandra..

Dear Aunty Irene, Wow, where do I start? I guess it should be with the obvious, Happy 50th Birthday! Although some people say that it is all downhill once you turn 50, I think turning 50 is a chance for others to look back and remember all the fond memories they have of you! Let me think of some fond patient, it may take a while. Some of the best memories of my childhood involve being around you and going over to your house. I loved all the holidays we went on to Forster, Nelson Bay and most of all, to Dunk Island. I had such an amazing time there, and loved every minute of it and none of it would have been possible if it wasn’t for you. I have so many great and fun memories of you, and I know there will be many many more to come! You truly are an amazing person, 1 in a million. We are all incredible lucky to have you in our family (although I didn’t get to pick my family...if I could I would still pick you!) I think we always get along because you get my sense of humour and it is very similar to yours. I remember Aunty Julie once saying that I reminded her of you sometimes...I took that as a compliment! I love you so much and am so thankful that you have always been there for me. I know that if I ever needed anything you will be there. May this be an amazing birthday and a day you will remember forever. Happy 50th!! Love always, Tonya

Wishing you a great 50th Birthday with lots of fun, love and laughter. Thank you for always being a great person to both Chris and me, and for letting us know that we can always count on you if we need anything. Looking forward to spending the next 50 together. Lots of Love. Anna. | Dear Irene, Thank you for always making me feel welcome at your home as part of the family. You are an incredibly warm and caring person who has touched the heart of all who are lucky enough to know you. I hope you have a fantastic Birthday and many more to come. Love Fi xoxox

Let me start at the very beginning the first time I met you. I heard a lot about you but never knew you so I thought when I meet you I will see for myself, and my judgement was right, a down to earth lady, humble, caring, loving etc I didn’t have to think twice it was all in front of me, I’m pretty good with knowing someone’s character. We got along really well plus it was a bonus that I’m Egyptian as well. Getting to know you over the months, I was scared at first, you know Egyptian mother, strong ethics and beliefs, but because we got along so well it was like I have known you for years the perfect person. It’s now been nearly 2 yrs and it’s the best feeling ever knowing I can talk to you and tell you anything, you have been there for me and supported me its hard to find someone like you who is devoted to her family and friends, it’s so beautiful. You are an amazing lady, and I’m so happy to have you in my life, we are all very lucky. Zac adores his Teta so much and loves you with all his heart, one day there will be a lot more little ones running around wanting to be with the most amazing Teta. You bless me so much and for that I thank you for loving and caring for me, when I’m down or sick your always there to ask how I’m feeling, I hope I can always repay you by always being there for you in good and bad times. Thank you for creating the most amazing Man Stephen He is my soul mate and my best friend, he has a heart of Gold and you can see it comes from You! Happy 50th Birthday I wish you all the best and good health for another 50 yrs. Love Always Marianne

To our dearest Aunty Irene, From the Sadek Clan of Condell Park we want to wish you a Very Happy Birthday. Over the years you have always been there for us and I just want you to know that we all appreciate that and will always be there for you. As the years go on, as we know they do, you always give us ways to remember you with a smile. Think about my personal favourites: Peas and rice. (No need to explain), Steak Irene, Pancakes Irene.......BBQ Breakfasts at Minchinbury. Reads like a menu :) My memories of you will always be of someone who leads by example from the time you have given to your husband and children and also the time you have given me and others in the family. The many jobs you have kept to make ends meet and social events you shine at. It doesn’t go unnoticed. Through all this you are still smiling and helping others to smile. You have always been like a Mum to me and I and my girls will always love you for that. Happy Birthday and lots of love from Al, Val, Katherine and Anastasia.
