S: New York/ Toronto - Summer 2011
Our adventure began on Friday, July 22, 2011 when we departed from the Saskatoon airport flying to Toronto and then on to Syracuse, NY. Upon our arrival in Toronto we thought we had plenty of time to make our connecting flight... after late luggage, and a super long line up for customs we were getting anxious. Eventually, we were pulled out of the customs line with only a few minutes to get through customs, re-check our bags, and go through security. With 5 minutes until our scheduled departure time, Rhett received the fastest stroller ride of his life. Eric and Diane could hear him "Oooh" and "Ahhh" as Loralee swerved around others running at top speed, yelling "excuse me!" Of course we had to run to the farthest possible gate in Toronto Pearson Airport. Gate 266. Out of breath, Loralee was able to hold the plane until Eric and Diane caught up. Thankfully we had made our flight with no time to spare! Our one hour flight to Syracuse was on a 20 passenger airplane where there was only one seat on each side of the aisle and no overhead luggage compartment. What a day!
July 23, 2011 Parade of Legends Cooperstown, NY Eric was thrilled to see his all-time favourite Blue Jay drive by. He wanted to run out on to the street and shake his hand...but Loralee didn't want to see him get arrested!
Rhett loved the FIRE TRUCK at the end of the parade! | More Roberto | Eric sitting in the dugout at Doubleday Field
Induction Ceremony Sunday, July 24, 2011 Clark Sports Center Inductees: Roberto Alomar Bert Byleven Pat Gillick
The day before the ceremony we left our lawn chairs on the field to save our spot for the following day. There were 17 500 people at the Induction Ceremony!
 National Baseball Hall of Fame
Jesse Barfield We stumbled across Jesse Barfield signing autographs for charity. He was super friendly and really liked the name Rhett! | Autographs
Roberto Alomar After waiting in the pouring rain for 45 minutes Eric was able to finally meet and shake the hand of his favourite Blue Jay.
 New York City
What a morning....at 7:15am we awoke to an alarm in our Toronto hotel. The alarm told us there was an emergency on our floor and to evacuate immediately. We headed for the stairs and it was a good thing we were only on the 7th floor! Rhett was super excited to see the fire trucks. He kept pointing at them so the firefighters invited him to sit inside!
Game #1 (Friday) Toronto vs Texas Toronto wins 3-2 | Game #2 (Saturday) Toronto vs Texas Toronto loses 3-0... but we had great seats!
Saturday at the Rogers Centre was Junior Jays Day. After the game Rhett was able to run the bases. He loved it! And Eric enjoyed it too!
Game #3 (Sunday) Toronto vs Texas Toronto wins 7-3 Roberto Alomar's jersey (#12) was retired. The ballpark was sold out! Aunt Kathleen, Cailin, and Grandma Diane joined us for the game. It was an absolutely memorable day!
 Canada's Wonderland
Kathleen, and Cailin joined us at Canada's Wonderland. Eric's favourite ride is the log ride. He loved watching Cailin and Loralee react when they hit the water. Later, Eric took Rhett on the bridge and the two of them got soaked. Rhett was not impressed! Kathleen and Loralee experienced the drop of their lives on the Drop of Doom ride.
Here's our little monkey enjoying his new Blue Jays cup in the hotel room, and watching some Wiggles on the plane ride home.
 What a fantastic trip!
